Remember what a total asshole Alvin Green was following the Dem primary and how he was a likely nefarious plot by Republicans?
Oh how the media had nothing good to say about him.
The sheer gall of these papers now is astounding. They assume everyone has forgotten all of that and now they are rehabilitating Greene.
Now the new meme; "he was a quite and shy school boy who is taking on the Goliath of Jim DeMint, evil conservative Republican".
Alvin Greene earned the nickname “turtle” in high school – a quiet, withdrawn boy who was smart when he applied himself but rarely took a chance and tried to put himself in comfortable situations.
Nearly four weeks ago, the 32-year-old unemployed military veteran turned South CarolinaÂ’s political scene upside down when he won the Democratic nomination for a U.S. Senate seat. And unlike that high school student, heÂ’s taking a big chance: running against powerhouse Republican Sen. Jim DeMint of Greenville.
I swear folks, you couldn't make this shit up if you were trying to write SF.

WASHINGTON – Over and over in the health care debate, President Barack Obama said people who like their current coverage would be able to keep it.
But an early draft of an administration regulation estimates that many employers will be forced to make changes to their health plans under the new law. In just three years, a majority of workers — 51 percent — will be in plans subject to new federal requirements, according to midrange projections in the draft.
It's more evidence that the law will raise costs, said the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. But the Business Roundtable — representing CEOs of major firms — saw encouraging signs of flexibility, though it's withholding final judgment. Some experts believe increased regulation will lead to improved benefits for consumers.
Surprize, surprize surprize

If the statists are successful in making immigration an issue now -
we are all idiots. The only reason why they are concentrating on immigration and trying to raise its visibility is because it shifts focus off of the really rotton shit-pile of an economy that they are standing on while preaching to us about how great everything is.
It shifts focus off of the millions of people, who we hear absolutely nothing about, btw, who are without jobs and without hope of getting any. It shifts focus off of all of the children who can't figure out why their parents can't get food for them.
It shifts focus off of of the massive ecological and economic disaster and the massively incompetent response of Barry's administration in its failure to manage the disaster.
It shifts focus from the absolute proof provided by this administration's incompetence that the government should absolutely be the last entitiy to take on management of aspects of our lives that are much more competently managed in the private sector, free from the graft, corruption, ineffectiveness, inefficientness of the government.
The focus is not immigration and we can't let them take our eyes off of the real problems.

Gina McCarthy, head of the E.P.A.Â’s air and radiation office, said the new rules would
reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides by hundreds of thousands of tons a year
and bring $120 billion in annual health benefits.
Those benefits, Ms. McCarthy said, include
preventing 14,000 to 36,000 premature deaths,
23,000 nonfatal heart attacks,
21,000 cases of acute bronchitis,
240,000 cases of aggravated asthma and
1.9 million missed school and work days.
Is there a university course on environmental math?

OT, but...
Florida politics have been as interesting as usual this go around and it just keeps getting better. First, we have Mike Weinstein with the Wham video and now the Florida GOP and Bill McCollum crying foul because Rick Scott finally started playing hardball.
McCollum was losing in the polls and started putting out nasty ads about how Rick Scott was guilty of Medicare fraud. Scott politely defended himself. Then McCollum came out and said that Scott's hospitals were letting old people die on their front doorsteps. So Scott took a swipe back. Then, McCollum started airing ads with the not-so-subliminal message which tried to paint Scott as another "Made-off" and Scott had had enough. So, now, he swings back and they're crying like a bunch of little girls.
Rubio/Crist, Scott/McCollum, and Disco Mike.
What a year.

I don't think it is pandering to the blacks as much as it is supporting Democrats at all costs. The thing that got me is how quickly they switched "the story" after the final appeals were over and he became the "no shit official" Dem candidate.
They really think that people are stupid.
Anyway, just got a call from the library for a book I ordered. Gotta go for a few back later.

23 Ever wondered where Skilcraft "U.S. Government" pens come from? Blind folks in West Allis, WI.
Without reading the name or the hash, I immediatgely knew this link could be from none other than Heather. You, Heather, are continually effervescent in so many ways. But... I never really wondered about that. I have wondered about what could possibly be in those 18-wheelers marked "Ticonderoga" though. Could they possibly be filled with pencils?
On another matter: You know Obama knows he's up shit's creek when, in order to cover up the other bad news he's responsible for, he picks on Arizona over residency laws.

Who is letting the retards into the Green Room?
Steven Den Beste is hardly a retard. He was a very, very well respected blogger back in the day.
And yes, he wasn't sneering at people for having the paranoid answers, was he?
Why did I write this? First, because it seemed like it would be amusing, to me and to the readers. But also to bring up the point that the amazingly consistent string of horrible decisions has reached the point where IÂ’m beginning to have a hard time accepting that incompetence is solely responsible.
When all the mistakes go the same way, you have to wonder whether theyÂ’re really mistakes.
Honestly, I think that Obama is making some of us sound paranoid because we're been predicting this shit for 2 years and no one has listened so far.

Translation: If we can drop employee health coverage off our expense list and credibly say the government made us do it, we'll be tap-dancing on the ceiling.
My opinion: Employers never would have taken on health insurance but for wage restrictions during WWII. They should be allowed to drop it as long as all government meddling in the insurance industry ends, too.

1. Inspire children, especially Muslim children, to study math and science.
2. Expand international relationships, foremost to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations.
3. Have NASA prop up Muslim nations so that they "feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering."
4. PS, Jihad's destruction of the USA is a good thing.

Actually, most people agree though many are too wimpy to admit it beyond answering polls subsequently reporting Obama's falling support and strong disapproval numbers.
Obamarx, Inc. has always painted opponents with Democratic shitty whole cloth, smearing constitutional conservatives with the failings of radical leftists. AS IF the American majority believes anything coming from this administration any more.
So how does this potus respond to the American voice expressed forcefully by voting US citizens? Obamarx, Inc. is revving up to produce shit to sling in the coming elections. At this point, given the strong Tea Party conservative showings, the cowardly conservatives including elected Arizona Democrats like Rep. Harry Mitchell are as sick and tired as any here of this administration's horrible mismanagement of leadership efforts spent grand standing on the wrong premise that the Federal Government has a monopoly on ALL AMERICAN GOVERNANCE; as if states don't exist except to direct USPS mail. Voter registration, already a mere formality, will no longer apply. ANYONE can vote because Obama has spoken: US citizenship is merely a matter of "faith" that anyone can claim so long as anyone "believes" he/she "deserves" US citizenship. And unconstitutional "plurality" voting rules granting each illegal alien illegal voter multiple votes will be enforced. Constitutional Rule of Law and law enforcement is inconvenient. That inconvenience functions for modern Marxists within our own nation's cultural context as reason enough to discard and dispose whatever conflicts with illegal CONVENIENCE.

Notice how the LA Times' headline says "NATO kills Afghan Soldiers"......under Pres Bush it was the "Bush Administration kills......".
The MSM did this with Clinton too...when there was a scandal in DC it was "Washington" or "DC" or "the US Government".......with Bush it was ALWAYS a "Bush Administration aid.....a Bush Administration donor....Bush's Iraq...."

/Conan the Musical: That's good.
Malkin stepped away from her strong support for the US citizen volunteer 's aiding Border Patrol (providing instant timing/location of illegal crossings as they occurred) in order to assume her neoconservative position. Subsequently when Malkin lost her solid blogger to Laura Ingraham and hired Ed, then later selling HotAir to specific neoconservative interests, of course the end result provided Obama with apologist pussies like HotAir Neoconservatives.
Supposedly, they've been WAITING for cover from what Hillary feared as "the right wing conspiracy" aka constitutional conservatives. But really, they loath constitutional conservancy, a platform that neoconservatives selectively endorse less than they themselves ignore for being so damned inconvenient to uphold.
The conservatives differ from Neoconservatives who are intent on expanding US pre-emptive international war engagements rather than defend US borders. Naively, "patriotic" Americans have endorsed the neoconservative agenda made obvious from the LBJ administration through Bush and now into Obama's administration. Progressive Neoconservatives usurped the states' Guard units without Governors' permission and without individual Guard member's volunteering to fight international wars.
The HotAir pussies waited until the national polls exposed Obama's strong public disapproval and the nation's dominating conservative opinion now. That is one GOP convoluted vicious circle.
Ed Morrissey has recently ventured out of his comfort zone into his own taboo regarding Obama's illegitimate presidency; though HotAir still evades recognizing the Constitution's author's encyclopedic definition, that "natural-born" requires citizenship by both parents and the subject's birth within the nation's territory.
Regarding Members of Parliament, under the Act of Settlement 1701, only natural-born subjects were qualified."
The Law of Nations
Vattel in Bk 1 Sec 212, states the following.
§ 212. Citizens and natives.
The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.
Alexander Hamilton (a signer of our Constitution) in the Gazette of the United States, published in Philadelphia, on June 29, 1793 “The second article of the Constitution of the United States, section first, establishes this general proposition, that “the EXECUTIVE POWER shall be vested in a President of the United States of America…The executive is charged with the execution of all laws, the law of nations, as well as the municipal law, by which the former are recognized and adopted.”
Emer de Vattel (1714-1767) was one of the foremost theorists of natural law in the 18th century. His writings were widely read in the American colonies and had a profound impact on the thinking of the framers of the American Constitution. “The Law of Nations” provides the Constitutional definition of a “natural born citizen. Historical records reveal that Vattel’s work was quoted at the Federal Constitutional Convention of 1787, various State Constitutional Conventions, and was also referenced in a 1785 letter by John Jay regarding a diplomatic matter.
Yet, Obama apologists ranting "birther" to smear constitutional conservatives would not recognize the Constitution as applicable today, having reached an antiquated expiration date aged beyond the oddly superimposed 176 year relevancy limit from Marc Rubin. "Natural born" is defined as someone who was not only born in the U.S. but who has had both parents born in the U.S. which disqualifies Obama because his father was born in Kenya. There are many things that makes that point lunatic, not the least of which is the definition of what natural born means in law based on a 17th century definition, one that existed 176 years before the US Constitution.

End result? Really, really toxic. Everything is going to die soon. Why? Because BP is still using Corexit, although the EPA has "asked" them to stop.
This is going to make Katrina look like a day in the park.

Does it indicate a change in independent thinking or a chance in the population claiming to be independent? With the incredibly poor performance of the so called GOP leaders in recent months an exodus from the Republican party to independence seems likely.
Cornyn was on NPR this morning saying that he supports amnesty as long as it isn't called "amnesty". He likes "comprehensive immigration reform" and he likes "permanent green cards" any anything else that is amnesty by a different name but that word amnesty is just too divisive and ugly.

pam @ 45 - so true.
My favorite example of this was a recent David Brooks op-ed on how the Feds were screwing up royally in the BP blow-out response.
In 800 words, in an article specifically targetted at the Federal Government, he managed to avoid using the words "Obama", "White House", "adminstration", and "President" (except when he referred to a local parish "president").
The way it was written, all the screwups were the fault of a loose collection of bad guys, sort of like a biker gang. The Coast Guard was virtually the only agency actually mentioned by name - no EPA, no FEMA, no HSA... just a bunch of stupid individuals with no identifiable affiliation or leadership! Hey, no wonder they can't get their act together!
