They seem obsessed with obsessing about possibility that some Republicans might actually respect the woman. Odd.

"Numerous sources feared former Sen. Ted Stevens was on board the flight, but officials have not been able to confirm that."
"Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Monday that tough economic times require that he shutter a major command that employs some 5,000 people around Norfolk, Va., and begin to eliminate other jobs throughout the military".

All I can find updated via Google search is this:
Former Sen. Ted Stevens may have been on plane that crashed in Alaska, friends say
Guess they still don't know.

More ideas for Republicans
1. Undo the tweaks (and yes, this one line could be expanded out to book length)
2. Create a fair deal for everybody instead of special deals for the politically connected
3. Promote entrepreneurship by getting out of the way
4. Pursue public sector productivity. It will never match private sector productivity but we certainly can do better.

Aug. 10 (Bloomberg) -- The productivity of U.S. workers unexpectedly fell in the second quarter, indicating companies may redouble efforts to contain costs as the recovery unfolds.
The figures show the worldÂ’s largest economy lost momentum heading into the second year of the recovery, one reason why companies are holding the line on employment and pay.
Oh this crazy recovery. It's acting just like a recession.

In Nevada, Hairy Reid and all the Democrunts has pounded mercessly on Sharron Angle, that she is a nut, against old people, far right loon, and just a plain whack job. Angle finally mounted a few more or less lackluster ads against him and behold, the race is even. Seems like the majority of voters are looking for any reason NOT to vote for cranky Harry.
I think if they debate, Sharron will be able to hand him his walking papers. I pray. She needs to back away from her "God told me to do this" stance, and be clear that if she is elected, Harry won't be.

I was not one of the 72%. In fact I may not fill out tax forms any more either. As long as we play nice little sheep, we enable this government to continue to plunder us. Like an out of control drug addict, we keep feeding their addiction for wealth and power. Our current unpayable debt= 13.3 trillion.

NEW YORK — William Shatner, of all people, stands at the center of television's latest moral battleground.
He's the cantankerous lead character in a new CBS sitcom, "(Bleep) My Dad Says," that is scheduled to air on Thursday nights. Rather than "bleep," the title uses a series of symbols that suggest the expletive included in the book title on which the series is based.
The Parents Television Council last week sent letters to 340 companies that advertise frequently on TV urging them to stay away from the show unless the name is changed. The group argues that the title is indecent.

Perhaps you should check the dates on that Dem PR rag from Vegas before commenting. Its out of date stuff quoted from a religious magazine interview in the primaries.
If you are a true conservative and Republican you will get on board and support her instead of carping.

Washington (CNN) -- The chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee said Monday he put a hold on a $100 million U.S. military package for Lebanon's army out of increased concern American-supplied weapons could threaten Israel.
How many of you knew that we were giving military aid to Lebanon which is now largely controlled by the two different Middle East terrorist organizations and Iran?

Here is a story linked to from Drudge about our UT Republican Orrin Hatch.
Utah Republican Senator Orrin Hatch has introduced a bill that could slim the government's workforce. The Reduce and Cap Federal Workforce Act would bring down and freeze the number of civilian feds at February of 2009 levels. Agencies would need to make those reductions through attrition. The bill would exempt the Defense and Homeland Security departments and some intelligence agencies. Hatch says the government has become bloated, and his bill would cut it down to size.
This is how the typical RINO operates nowadays. He wants to “freeze” the government size at 2009 levels. Why 2009? The communists took control of government in 2007 and it exploded. Let’s go back to the 2006 levels of government if we want to do something meaningful. But personally, I think we need a much more massive cut back. Instead of trying to get it done by some arbitrary year, what we need is to simply go and start killing the departments that are blatantly unconstitutional.
1. Kill Dept of Energy entirely
2. Kill Arts/sciences BS entirely
3. Kill Dept of Health, Education, and Welfare entirely
4. Cut the EPA back to its original mandate and levels from the 60s and forbid it to expand any greater without specific authority from congress.
As for Hatch being a RINO, technically he is not having an average hovering just above 90. But if you look at his record over the years what you see is that, like a lot of them, he bounces up and down on a two year cycle. He also crosses over on important stuff with a frequency that occurs all too often. For example he crossed over and sided with the commies on the unconstitutional DC Voting Rights bill of 2009. A bill designed for the sole purpose of giving the Democraps another two permanent congressional seats. Also, clearing the way to give them another two permanent Senators in a “new State” the size of a typical Texas back yard. It is blatantly unconstitutional, but since we have senior Republicans siding with the Dems who is going to challenge it? For that matter, who will get standing? This bill should never have been allowed to proceed.
If the “citizens” of DC wish to vote they should move out of the capital and into MD or VA. If I had my druthers the size of the Capital would be reduced to a small circle and it would be illegal to have a permanent residence there. That would solve the whole problem.

re: ArthurK's comment about the Russian fires torching 200+ planes on the ground.
I kid you not, Camp Pendleton had a flood in '98 or so that swamped 50+ helicopters (their is an Air Station inside of the base for helicopters, MCAS Camp Pendleton) and damaged/destroyed them to hell.
So it happened here already, so you can't be to hard on the Russians.
You'd be suprised in a distaster the managers say "Don't let it cross this line", and it does and you are up crap creek.

Re: #79 - Posted by: Scott_T at August 10, 2010 02:16 PM (IrbU4)
Interestingly enough, Scott, the airstrip at Camp Pendleton and the hacienda that became the base commander's residence were built in what was believed to be an old, dried up riverbed which had not contained a river for hundreds of years, because the river had gone underground centuries ago, evidence of which was the cavern in the cliff on the coast where that underground river flowed into the Pacific Ocean, and discovery that when artillary rounds or sachel charges or mortar rounds detonated in certain places on Camp Pendleton, their craters filled up with water and dead fish without any eyes floated up to the surface of the water in those craters.
However, what the Marine Corps discovered way back in the 60's was that when rains in the mountains were so heavy that the underground tunnel didn't have the capacity to contain that underground river, the river spewed out of a big, gaping hole and flowed to the ocean both above ground in the old riverbed and underground in that tunnel, also, which was what washed away that airstrip; i.e., the river flowed above ground again in that old riverbed following a combination of both melting snow and heavy rainstorms in the mountains.
It's surprising that it caused so much damage, considering that the Marine Corps had known about that threat for more than 40 years already, and supposedly measures had been taken as a precaution to prevent just such a mishap, but not adequately apparently.
