9 The propaganda president. Paid for by your tax dollars. (insty)

"The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, led by Darrell Issa (R-CA), has issued a 37 page report (PDF) that accuses the White House of “an unprecedented number of public relations and propaganda efforts,” including efforts that the committee found to be inappropriate or illegal.

Executive branch agencies cited in the propaganda efforts include the Department of Education, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Justice, Department of Transportation, and the White House itself. The report also criticizes the White House for using the reach of the executive branch to funnel citizens to a website owned and operated by the Democratic National Committee."

A leader of the Hamas terror group yesterday jumped into the emotional debate on the plan to construct a mosque near Ground Zero -- insisting Muslims "have to build" it there.

"We have to build everywhere," said Mahmoud al-Zahar, a co-founder of Hamas and the organization's chief on the Gaza Strip.

"In every area we have, [as] Muslim, we have to pray, and this mosque is the only site of prayer," he said on "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio" on WABC.

In response, let me be the first to request that you suck the barbed cock of Satan, you disreputable, biased, agenda-driven hack.

Heat waves are climate, but cold snaps are just weather.

"Russian firefighters, meanwhile, have succeeded in pushing back some of the country's wildfires, and meteorologists said a cold front was advancing from the northwest that would hit the Moscow region Monday, bringing heavy rains and colder temperatures."

26 Saw this in a Yahoo article this morning:

Another group representing other relatives of 9/11 victims, the September Eleventh Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, said in May that it "strongly supports" the Islamic center.

My head may be in the sand, but I've never heard of "Peaceful Tomorrows", even though they're apparently relevant enough to squeak their way into mainstream discussion of this controversy. A cursory trawl of their web site reveals eight years of Democratic talking points (close Guantanamo, Bush lied, etc. etc.), under the thinly veiled guise of "peace" and the armored overcoat of "9/11 families".

A google search reveals that the group behind PT is.... The Tides Foundation. Hmmm... they really get around, don't they.

28 I would tell the creator of the poster to change the "Since" date. 1794 implies that they are claiming Thomas Jefferson. I wouldn't let them have Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson was a "Democratic Republican" not a "Democrat." They are not at all the same thing, either in fact or philosophy.

The TRUE founder of the Democrat Party was Andrew Jackson. He was the man that created the DNC (Democratic National Committee) that has existed ever since. He is the man responsible for throwing the Indians off their land in the south so that whites could use the land to create Slave Plantations. I.E. , he is the TRUE founder of the Democrat party.

I would not LET them have Jefferson. They can claim them, but I would not respect their claim. They are so out of touch with everything Jefferson stood for, that were he alive, he'd disown them himself!

I recently spent a week on vacation with the in-laws. For 9 years, every summer has featured at least one huge, days-long, political argument. Global warming, Iraq, Obama, etc...were constant topics. This year, not a peep. It was like the two members of the family (f-i-l and b-i-l) that usually argue with me had made a pact to not talk politics at all. It was funny watching them making up nonsense to talk about or "casually" changing the channel from the news to ESPN.
They can't hold out forever, so I'm hoping that on Thanksgiving I can give them their traditional rhetorical thrashings while I'm still basking in the glow of Nov.2.

One of the main reasons I stopped using facebook was the smarmy, superior attitude of some of my high school (pseudo)friends. They marched in lockstep, without an original thought in their progressive bodies. It was tedious and boring to discuss politics with them, because they fell back into the liberal cant of "hope and change" whenever they were challenged. I got tired of being accused of racism, neo-colonialism, imperialism, etc. I quit wen I realized that some of these formerly-very-smart people had learned nothing new in the 30 years since high school.

And this may shock you; many of them were products of the Ivy League!

Figures; remember its Iowa, a blue State which should have been relegated to the last of the primaries in that meeting the RNC just had.

Keep in mind that all the other polls show Huck last. If things go as they are now, which is doubtful, Huck will take Iowa in part, Romney will take NH in part, and then a real conservative will take SC in part. Keep in mind that in those 3 races there will be no winner take all this time.

I don't know. He is a very good speaker, he is articulate and seems like a nice guy. Obviously we all know is a he liar and a populist, but not everyone is as informed as us. I think he has a good shot at winning the primaries depending on what groups turn out.

If there is a large evangelical turn out, specifically in Iowa and the South, Huckabee can win. However is there is a huge fiscal conservative turnout, I think Mitt or Pawlenty have a good shot.

Also this all depends on if Palin decides to run(i hope not). If she does, i think she will siphon off Huckabee votes.

89 He didn't win SC last time and that was before everyone was educated to his liberal ways. He will do worse this time than last.

The only thing he can do is divert votes from a real conservative just like he did last time. We could wind up with another damn McLame RINO nominated, just like last time.

I thought te only reason he ran was to keep Romney from winning the nomination- i.e, cant have a Latter Day Saint for president.

Aug. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Builders in the U.S. unexpectedly turned pessimistic in August, a sign the expiration of a government tax credit will keep depressing home construction.

The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo confidence index dropped to 13 this month, the lowest level since March 2009, from 14 in July, data from the Washington- based group showed today. Economists forecast a reading of 15, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey. Readings lower than 50 mean more respondents said conditions were poor.

100 Well one good thing that we have in the bank now is that almost all of the primaries are over and we got more real conservatives this time than we got RINOs. In fact, sent some of the incumbent RINOs packing.

The Rockefeller wing is sweatin about now. In a few more months the fall elections will be over and we will have to watch for the lame duck congress and then we can start thinking about 2012.

If we're lucky we will. I know he's considered a socialist or statist by people who think they understand his role in MA health care reform, but he's by far the most qualified to deal with the kind of economic storm the next Pres. will be wading into. The important thing is that Mitt doesn't get savaged/sabotaged (by the Nuck or the anti-Mitt crowd in the RNC) in the lead up to the early primaries. I figure Mitt has a 50-50 shot at the nomination, and a 65% chance of beating Obama if he gets the nod.

Well, not that I'm all that enthusied with any of the standard batch of has-beens and wannabe's that the Republican's are likely to nominate this next time around, but I'm hard pressed to see where any of them would do a worse job than what we have now.

One of the many reasons I dislike our political process, all too often were left with a choice between getting shot and getting hung, You end up voting for the guy that will do the least damage.

Lord knows I never thought I would ever pull the lever for the likes of McCain, and honestly I still feel a little dirty over that one. Ick.

To be replaced by someone better? Or just to gain four more years of Obama? Romney may be too centrist for some, but Strom Thurmond ain't running this time, so unless this magical flaw-free candidate that people are counting on hurries up and gets here, it'll be Huck, Mitt, and a few other used politicians vying for the seat. None of them will be as bright, have as much experience, or be as decent a person as Romney.

By 2011, a number of other GOP POTUS candidates should emerge, including hopefully:

Mitch Daniels - currently governor of Indiana, well known deficit hawk and ex-Treasury Official under GW Bush.

Rick Perry - currently governor of Texas

David Petreaus - you know who he is.

All 3 have EXECUTIVE experience, which will be a key issue after 2+ more years of Bumblefuck and his obvious lack of same.

Know whats worse? I was born in Arkansas.

I was born and raised in NE, travelled around for a bit, wound up in California. After the first couple of weeks there I couldn't wait to get out, finally did a few years later, came home to NE, been here ever since.

It's not bad, if you stick to the small towns, but get into one of the larger "cities" and you generally end up running into the same "me first entitlement" mentality that is so prevelant in so many other places today.

I live in a small town about 30 miles south of Omaha myself, close enough to commute to work but far enough away that I can leave my car running and unlocked while I run into the grocery store.

I also know he just trotted out William T. Sherman's line on running for the Presidency. And I know absolutely nothing about his political views, which is appropriate, since he is an active duty flag officer. But, for all we know, he is a latte-sipping fan of show tunes who wears ironic T-shirts and square-rimmed glasses when he is on leave.

Screw it. Let's run Nikki Haley for President. God knows she has already walked on the coals as far as noxious personal attacks and backstabbing from within one's own party are concerned.

I was born in Arkansas, grew up all over the West (my parents moved a lot) and finally settled down for good here in Waterloo about ten years ago.

We have the me first mentality here too, especially in my neighborhood. Which also why we've had a double stabbing in the past month, and at least two shootings this year.

And in a completely related note, I'm going to take the test for my CCW on Sep 4th.

129 48 He is the man responsible for throwing the Indians off their land in the south so that whites could use the land to create Slave Plantations. I.E. , he is the TRUE founder of the Democrat party.

Actually he threw them off because gold had been discovered on their lands. These were also the "civilized tribes". The Supreme Court ruled against the U.S. government in the affair and Jackson essentially told them to pack sand. He evicted the Cherokee anyway.

Posted by: Vic at August 16, 2010 09:37 AM (/jbAw)

This is true, but once the gold was mined out, What did they do with the land then?

In any case, he's the REAL father of the Democrat Party, and it's just been going downhill ever since! I wouldn't agree with their claim on Jefferson though, make them TAKE Jackson!

130 When people tire of their "Waitng for Godot" routine, they're going to have to decide who among humans that actually exist will be the nominee. If it's someone from out of the blue, as has been suggested for months, then they better be damn good. By definition, this phantom candidate will have near-zero name recognition, fundraising, primary state campaign apparatus, top level political advisers, etc.
It ain't gonna happen. And I'm in no mood for another "Messiah" anyway.
