I wish Bastiat's The Law were the main source for lessons taught in public education accompanying our nation's Constitution and Constitutional Governance as a democratic Republic. He wrote so effectively to persuade not only elitist social classes, but any literate person from any social strata.
And on Bastiat, I tried last month a yahoo search, only to find that his online records had been pirated and deleted by the Bastiat now living.

A real Jesus type would go into Goldman Sachs and/or congress and turn over the tables of the money changers and deal makers.
But yeah, bold faced lies are fine with the left, when they are used to manipulate the little people.

The U.S. Second Fleet, which trains and certifies all strike groups before deployment and employs 348 active and reserve military personnel, civilian employees and contractors, is in jeopardy as the Department of Defense continues to trim its budget.
Second Fleet? We don't need no Second Fleet.
Honestly. This is what we're cutting back on?
I have no problem with military cuts, ridiculous procurment should be at the top of the list. However, getting rid of parts of the Navy?
There are a million things that should be cut before our navy.

How's that Hopey Changey working out for the Martha's Vineyard nit wits?
Criticized for summering on an upscale resort island at a time when so many Americans are out of work, he's practically been in hiding since arriving, though the White House denied any connection.
Aides insist the Obamas have not downsized their Vineyard vacation — that's just their island style. "Martha's Vineyard is a pretty low-key place," said Burton. "This vacation's exactly like last year's, only rainier."
At least some residents grouse that Obama should be out visiting more shops and boosting the local economy, especially since his motorcades have snarled traffic.
"I think it's really bothersome to a lot of people," said Wendy Maseda, 40, of Oak Bluffs. She said the difference with Clinton is "huge ... Clinton really helped businesses here.

More gut wrenching quotes from da Zeroguy, Fucktard for the ages:
"My faith is one that admits some doubt."
" The problem is that the NRA says any regulation whatsoever is the camel's nose under the tent. And I don't think that's where the American people are at. We can have a reasonable, thoughtful, gun control measure that still respects the Second Amendment and people's traditions."
(The pundits) said you can't win in a year like this with a name like Obama. There was quite a bit of confusion at first, but it did get me free air time on Al Jazeera."
"What I was suggesting--you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith....." (takling to Stephanopoulos, who quickly corrected Zero to Christian faith).
"Why can't I just eat my waffle?"
" I think that older folks hang on too long and stay in the way. I think that if a young person feels they can do a better job than somebody in the next generation, sometimes it's necessary to go ahead and run, and keep in mind that usually folks don't give up power easily. It has to be wrested from them."
" It's been a great ride. But I know how quickly these fads can pass. You all remember the pet rock, the mood ring, Howard Dean"
"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died--an entire town destroyed."
Enough! Please, calm yourselves

this may be a thought crime. But i miss Bill Clinton.
He wasn't a terrible president. He did a ton of things i hated, but after 1994 he wasn't terrible.
Maybe i'm crazy, or maybe 2 years of Obama have gotten to me. But Clinton was actually moderate on some issues, you can't say the same about Obama. I honestly can't think of one thing Obama and I agree on. Whereas Clinton did things i agreed with, like cutting back on welfare, a more laissez fare economy in comparison to Obama. Fewer government take overs. And for a pot smoking draft dodger, he at least defended america on the world stage to one degree or another.
Am i totally insane or is Obama so bad that Clinton looks good by comparison a reasonable sentiment.

Richard Cohen, despicable litle creep, has an editorial in today's Washington Post which rivals Keithy O in its insanity. Not only does he call Sarah Palin the "twittering twit of the tundra" but he also attacks Archbishop Dolan for NOT weighing in on the mosque issue hard on the pro-islamist side. Apparently terrorism is THE SAME THING as the priest scandal and we certainly don't condemn the whole church because of that (we/they don't?) Therefore, the archbishop is evil, sarah palin is stupid and evil, and those that don't come down hard on the side of the mosque are horrible appeasers.

There is NO other reason.
Don't be fooled by the "moderate" Clinton. HillaryCare is/would be no different than ObamaCare. The Clintons are just more nuanced. The Clintons are the original modern statists. We've received several polling calls here in the last month. I suppose that once you agree to answer one, you're on the list as a live one. Anyhoo, this last one seemed to focus on the Delaware primaries, but definitely focused (laser like) on the Senate race. my guess is that either Castle or the state Republican party commissioned this. After hearing things they obviously didn't want to hear, I was treated to "facts' such as supposedly Christine O'Donnell didn't pay off tuition or mortgage bills, and would it effect my vote? One interesting question was would I vote for Coons (D) Castle (R) or O'Donnell (Constitutional party) in the general election. I surmise they fear that she will run as a Tea Party candidate if she does not win the primary.

Well, money talks. And McCain has a monopoly on the biggest donors, and had Mitt campaigning for him at local events, Mitt having his own following there in AZ.
Hayworth should never have gone the slick 'n easy "free money" route. That's what put a serious hole in his effort, given that he had the connections to put up funding to run against the monopoly king.
There are a lot of local conservative AZ state legislators that I noted running first time national campaigns for House seats. Wish them well, because they'll be the only ones earning an opportunity as contenders next rounds.

they just keep going about it wrong.
The best way to convince an American is to appeal to their wallet. They should be selling this green stuff as a way to save money, not for some abstract planet saving crusade.
Using less water saves you money, using less electricity saves you money, having a better insulated house saves you money, having a car with better MPG saves you money(assuming the car is comparable in price to a lower MPG car), etc etc.
I don't understand why the don't use that angle. That way they get people who are anethma to left wing doomsaying to happily go along.
Then again there are a lot of conservatives like me who had already been doing "green" things that the city dwellers just discovered.
Growing my own vegetable garden, insulating my home, water barrels to collect free rain water, puting on a sweater instead of turning the heat up to 80 in the winter. I'm willing to bet everyone here has been living a "green" lifestyle for their entire lives.

Yes, vanity prohibited Moses' entry to the promised land, taking public credit for what God accomplished for others.
And there's that warning not to use God's name to legitimize the corruption we do "on his behalf".
Matthew Chapter 7
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

And Hillarycare was abandoned when it became clear it was failure, can't we give him credit for that?
I know Clinton is a lefty, but he was also a pragmatist.
I'll tell you what. When the Republicans destroy Obama in the November this year and take control of the house and maybe senate, I will eat my words if he becomes a moderate.
You're right, clintons were statists, but so was Bush 1 and Bush 2. It is just varying degrees of statism. All i am saying is we should give him credit for understanding America didn't want hillarycare or some of the other left wing garbage. Obama couldn't even do that. There are two major reasons:
1) 90% of the "greenies" really don't give a flying fk about the environment at all. They just see it as a mechanism to advance communism and fascism. Look at all their proposed "solutions" and that becomes readily apparent.
2) Going "green" really doesn't save you enough money to offset the expense unless you were going to spend the money anyway. Take the old "cash for clunkers" ripoff of the taxpayer.
Trading in a car that only gets highway mileage of 20 mpg (V8 F-150) for one that gets 25 mpg (V6 ranger small) at a cost of app 20,000 dollars (depending on age of trade-in) would mean that on an estimated 100,000 mile lifetime before trade again they would save an estimated 1,000 gal of gas.
If gas cost $2.50/gal that would be a savings of $2500. Based on all that trading a car for savings on gas is not cost beneficial unless the price of gas goes up by a factor of 10.
Hummmm, does the current regime's strategy now make sense?

You're one crazy cracker. If it's not 80, it's not life.

Growing my own vegetable garden, insulating my home, water barrels to collect free rain water, puting on a sweater instead of turning the heat up to 80 in the winter. I'm willing to bet everyone here has been living a "green" lifestyle for their entire lives.

Ha. My parents who were reared in the rural south during the depression could teach all these libtards about conservation. You don't know reuse, recycle until you've been exposed to this mindset. I lived in constant danger of "wasteing something" and getting yelled at for being insensitive to money. That included gas, heat, air conditioning, food, paper goods, etc. My dad was king of the 8 min shower and timed everyone else. Mom turns off the water while she soaps up. What made it funnier was that they lived in the best neighborhoods, drove the most expensive cars, paid for private school and then kept the thermostat in the winter on 63 over windows which had been reinsulated and even double caulked and stuffed with paper towels. Always felt a little like the Clampets. Dad died with millions but reused the same brown bag for his lunch for decades.

108--
I pointed that out. that is was after 1994 he made the switch, but can't we give him credit for that?
Why? He had no choice. And Hillarycare was abandoned when it became clear it was failure, can't we give him credit for that?
Why? Again - The Clintons had little choice.
I know Clinton is a lefty, but he was also a pragmatist.
Sure. And he also raised taxes like a good little job-killing proggie. Lucky for him the tech boom covered his ass.
funny How the Bushes get painted as being farther left than the Clintons. the Clintons are snakes - they are dying to get back into the white house, and the stupid America public will probably let them. Bill Clinton campaigned against Obama and then drooled all over his lap. Bill clinton was ObamaCares biggest cheerleader.
I'm not buying the "lets me nice to Bill Clinton because he "moderated himself"" baloney. Sure, I'd take Bill over Obama any day, who wouldn't? but a Clinton Administration after an Obama administration will be a disaster. Hillary Clinton will enshrine Obamacare and all the other 2000+ page bills that should be repealed.

What's strange about that? Obama won't even eat in the same room with reasonably-large donors so there's no reason, photo-ops aside, that he'd mingle with the great unwashed even of a dark blue state.

139 Your lips, God's ear, no assembly required. Anybody who looks back with sentimental longing to Slick has got a screw loose -- yeah, he was marginally better than a radioactive disaster...wow, what a deal!
Let it never be forgotten what he did to set us up for "Bush's wars" -- he and Hillary are just as bad as oweone...circumstances just protected us last time.

That has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard Pelosi say.

Okay, so I take the dogs for a walk Saturday in an area of the trail that's nearly single track and not too well maintained which means the bicycle traffic is very light. Don't want to impede momentum for other folks on the trail but also don't want the dogs getting injured.
Lo and behold: Teleprompter jesus stimulus bucks at work. One of the most beautiful treed and curvy areas of the trail and they're paving it. This is probably a county decision but ironies abound. There's a construction crew out on a Saturday. While they are utilizing U. S. yellow metal, the entire crew is hispanic. Two can barely speak English so their green card status is questionable. Tax dollars at work. I'll have to find another area for the dogs.
The trail went from about four feet across to fifteen. They straightened it as a result of using highway equipment. This means the bikes are going to come charging down this fairly extreme railroad grade at about 35 MPH rather than former 15 or so. I know because I do the same whenever the chance presents. They'll also ride much faster heading north uphill. Bxstards!
Tough weekend for the pups. Sunday went over to the overland trails museum to take the dogs down to the river and then around the lake. Surprise. The Missouri is up to the extent that the river overlook AND the lake are now flooded; probably under about 10' at least. The green vegetation sitting on top of the water looks solid so both dogs went into the drink. The chihuahua really took a dunking since he actually lost his footing and rolled down the hill, but he's a sturdy little guy and scrambled right back out.

Spot on, Ben. Bottom line? Prudent financial decision making. Why do they insist on the "pious" route instead of the economic one? To get us used to being ruled.

So LA spent $570,000,000 on a school and got what looks like an aircraft carrier sunk in shallow water. Does the Left ALWAYS have to make Oswald Spengler's predictions come true? When art becomes meaningless ugliness, accoring to Spengler, we're in the last degnerate phase of our civilization.
I've been thinking about a blog named "Secular End Times."
Slogan: You don't have to be religious to think people are really screwing up.

You walk your own dogs? You're obviously a Conservative (see last nights ONT thread).

the first call he made to me was to tell me that his professor was a Reagan fan and not a libtard.
I'll bet the Prof has to watch his back around his liberal fellow-teachers.
