Seems to be a lot of enthusiasm out there, even in districts thought to be impossible wins.

I hope the enthusiasm can be sustained.  I hope Jimmuh Carter, aka Presidential Superstar, keeps talking.

Hell, I hope Barry keeps talking, even with the teleprompter, but preferrably without.  That whole lame-ass comedy routine, juvenile metaphors and all the ahhhh... ummmm... ehhhhh... I think really turns people off.

People have already got the hint that Barry is 1) a freaking radical ideologue, 2) incompetent and 3) almost certainly - stupid.  If he keeps talking, he'll just reinforce #3 imo.

Drudge has the links to articles from the new Woodward book

As for Mr. Obama himself, the book describes a professorial president who assigned “homework” to advisers but bristled at what he saw as military commanders’ attempts to force him into a decision he was not yet comfortable with. Even after he agreed to send another 30,000 troops last winter, the Pentagon asked for another 4,500 “enablers” to support them.

The president lost his poise, according to the book. “I’m done doing this!” he erupted.

Not only does the douche think he can run the country like a classroom this is more proof that he is an immature, spoiled child

That's why the red flood has yet to crest.  He will not be able to stop himself from lecturing us on how good we've got it, we just don't know it yet.  I'm reminded of some of Kim Jong Il's speeches on the healthfulness of pine tree needle tea and bark soup.  Don't you peasants get it?  Obamacare is GOOD FOR YOU!

Walter Mondale, Mr. Carter's vice president, told The New Yorker this week that anxious and angry voters in the late 1970s "just turned against us—same as with Obama." As the polls turned against his administration, Mr. Mondale recalled that Mr. Carter "began to lose confidence in his ability to move the public." Democrats on Capitol Hill are now saying this is happening to Mr. Obama.

Mr. Mondale says it's time for the president "to get rid of those teleprompters and connect" with voters.

Barry is going to get rid of the teleprompters? Ahahahahahahaha....good one Walley

http://tinyurl.com/2dfzr6d

Republican gubernatorial front-runner Nikki Haley took criticism from the left and right Tuesday, as her Democratic opponent ran a new, critical ad while a top Republican fundraiser questioned the legality of her consulting work for an engineering firm.

John Rainey, chairman of the Board of Economic Advisors and a member of Gov. Mark SanfordÂ’s inner circle during his first gubernatorial run, wrote a letter to U.S. Attorney William Nettles asking him to investigate HaleyÂ’s consulting work with Wilbur Smith Associates and her hiring by the Lexington Medical Center Foundation.

Sept. 22 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama is contending with widespread opposition at home and mostly approval abroad among investors in a global poll reflecting divergent perspectives on the business climate from the U.S. to Europe and Asia.

More than three-quarters of U.S. investors view Obama as anti-business and are pessimistic about his policies, while a majority outside the U.S. holds a more favorable view, a Bloomberg survey shows.

So most in the US can seem the damage Barry is creating while those outside the US are happy about it

Yes, he has upped his "conservative rhetoric". First he went down to Myrtle Beach to attempt to mend fences with the Tea Party there after he had maligned the Tea party in general. Next he called for war with Iran.

Both of those actions were teh stupid. He isn't fooling anyone. Country boys here may have colorful skin on the back of their necks, but they are not stupid. They do know the difference between piss on their backs and rain.

90 Frankly, I'm ready for President Biden. Underneath all the bullshit and stupidity, I think he loves America. The Mohammedan Mouthpiece does not; he hates us, wants revenge on us. Europeans can see that; that's why they like him.

Besides, even Joltin' Joe might mind his manners a bit, considering the impeachment, trial and imprisonment of his tresonous immediate predecessor.

I don't give a flying fuck about polls or local races today. All I care about is that America, my country, is in grave danger from a vile enemy within. And I want to see him removed before Osama Obama's Muzzies achieve their goals with his help.

I just learned that a neighbor of my parents got so sick of his signs being ruined during the last election cycle that he fought back with a sense of humor.  He rigged a motion detector to play a recording "welcome to my property, if you care to leave your name and fingerprint there is a book on the porch and ink for your convenience, but if you don't it's ok as your picture and voice print are really all we need to know who you are"   His property has remained remarkably untouched since.  this year it is littered with palladino and digiograurdi signs.

171 Apparently the plan was to challenge voters (voter caging) thereby limiting any voter fraud...however, the deal was they were going to send out mailers and based on returned as undeliverable (name didn't match the address) make their challenges.  Think Progress (spit) is using this as validation of the right wing conspiracy to suppress minority votes.

"Voter caging is a method of challenging the registration status of voters to potentially prevent them from voting in an election. It refers to the practice of sending direct mail to addressees on the voter rolls, compiling a list of addressees from which the mail is returned undelivered, and using that list to purge or challenge votersÂ’ registrations on the grounds that the voters do not legally reside at registered addresses. This typically results in the voters' having their votes discarded or submitted through the use of provisional ballots requiring further registration confirmation."

Misspending of $50 million

An analysis by the Maricopa County Office of Management and Budget, completed in September, 2010, found Arpaio has misspent at least $50 million in taxpayer dollars over the previous 4 years.

The analysis showed that money from a restricted detention fund which could only legally be used to pay for jail items, such as food, detention officers' salaries and equipment, was used to pay employees to patrol Maricopa County. The analysis also showed that many Sheriff's Office employees, whose salaries were paid from the restricted detention fund, were working job assignments different than those recorded in their personnel records. Arpaio used the detention fund to pay for investigations of political rivals, and activities involving his human-smuggling unit.

The analysis also showed a number of inappropriate spending items, including a trip to Alaska where deputies stayed at a fishing resort, and trips to Disneyland.

Separate investigations by The Arizona Republic uncovered widespread abuse of public funds and county policies by Arpaio's office, including high-ranking employees routinely charging expensive meals and stays at luxury hotels on their county credit cards. The Repulic also found that a restricted jail enhancement fund was improperly used to pay for out-of-state training, a staff party at a local amusement park, and a $456,000 bus, which was purchased by Arpaio in violation of county procurement rules.

@129: "Usually, for a primary election, the sign may include a party designation. Since the space is limited, party affilation is often deemed an unneccessary expense and clutters the sign up too much."

Fummy, where I live the Republicans proudly display their party affiliation on their campaign signs.

The DIM-o-crats do not put their party affiliation on theirs. Even King Roy Barnes, running on the DIM ticket for Gov in GA does not put his party affiliation on any of his advertising or campaign signs.

It's damn rare that you see Islam in any way involved with justice being done, but in this case I'd say poetic justice is fully accomplished.

Sigh.

There are 3 types of irony. Verbal irony, dramatic irony, and cosmic irony. Cosmic irony suggests that some unknown force brings about dire and dreadful events. This is a common theme in literature, e.g. Greek dramas and Shakespearean tragedies.

I said that I found the accident  ironic because it is obviously an example of cosmic irony.

Polynikes, I did not use it incorrectly, I just assumed that there was a better understanding of irony.  However, if you still disagree, I can write the professors who approved my master's english thesis and oral boards and let them know that I don't know the definition of irony.

212 He gave the example of Elizabeth Warren and the Consumer Protection Agency.  The agency was approved by congress during W's admin, and can never be defunded because it's operating $$ comes from the Fed.

This is not true. The Agency under the fed is the Financial Consumer Protection Agency that was put in place under the fed by the Dodd bill which was just passed. Recall that the Republicans were blocking this bill and our new Senator from MA allowed the Dems to bring it up by breaking the block.

Posted by: Vic at September 22, 2010 11:22 AM (/jbAw)

I know about the relationship to the Dodd Bill, but there was an early, key piece of this slipped into a bill during W's term.  The Dodd Bill just brought it to fruition.  Beck made a point of this a few times on both radio and TV.

More about the "non-partisan organization" CREW:

But a look at FEC campaign contribution records suggests that CREW's top leadership does have predominantly Democratic roots. Board member Craig Kaplan, for example, is a New York attorney who contributed more than $96,000 to Democratic candidates between Jan. 1, 2007, and Aug. 1, 2010.

Another CREW board member, Al Dwoskin is a Fairfax-based investor who is a director of Democracy Alliance, a gathering of 80 prominent high-dollar Democrat funders begun in 2005 to create a new liberal infrastructure to compete with the think tanks, media and activist groups on the Right. Since 2007, Dwoskin has contributed more than $217,000 to Democratic candidates.

Another board member, Louis Mayberg of Silver Spring, contributed $3,900 to Democratic candidates.

Other CREW board members include liberal legal scholar and author Erwin Chemerinsky, Salon.com columnist Glenn Greenwald, venture capitalist John Luongo, and Sloan.

Sloan was appointed by President Clinton in 1998 as an assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia.

Prior to that position, Sloan was a Democratic congressional staffer working for Sen. Charles Schumer, D-NY, Sen. Joe Biden, D-DE, and Rep. John Conyers, D-MI.

As executive director of CREW, Sloan received total compensation in 2008 of $194,625, according to the organization's 2008 IRS Form 990 tax return. Deputy director Naomi Seligman received $124,947, while Chantell Taylor, who directs CREW's Denver office, received $111,852. Chief counsel Anne Weisman was paid $140,258.

Even on the smallest matters Barry is compelled to lie. Does anyone believe that Obastard, in the height of the campaign, with billions of dollars to spend and an army of secretaries and assistants, couldn't speak almost immediately to anyone in the entire country had he chose to do so?

Fucking psychotard.

Oh yeah he definitely could have.  But the minute her status as illegal became known she became a liability for him and thus dead to him.  People are nothing more than tools for him, just like his religion.  If she were here legally you can damn well bet he'd have talked to her and appeared with her as a way to show how he is connected to his father's side of the family.  But illegal, and under the bus she goes.

More important, how many generals in WWII would have said "I don't think you win this war" and how long would they have lasted after saying it?

We need generals who understand what war is, and how to win it. Petraeus is beginning to sound more and more like a loser.

Plus, of course, we need a C-in-C who wants to win. Our current mess is the equivalent of  FDR secretly rooting for Hitler.

So a group is pushing to redesign our currency, and some British firm has submitted an admittedly nice design featuring two US presidents. Guess which two. Design is at the top of the article. Was it Beck that said that we need to move to get MLK on a bill ASAP? Because then not only will we honor a truly great American who deserves it on our currency, but it would beat Barry to the punch for yet another unprecedented milestone. They won't declare until they believe that what we're witnessing is a true sea-change. The only way that can happen is if a vast majority of elected Demotards and high-power Demotard operatives really and truly think Barry is doomed in 2012. A primary challenge would rip apart every alliance within the Demotard apparatus. It could indeed happen, but it would be an act of desperation. Bayh can make lots of noise, but remember many declare candidacy as a dress rehearsal for future races. The real question will be if any challenger is serious about the challenge.

531 350: I think they will turn up, but will they wait around for long? That's the key. Turnout was low and even I had to wait 20 minutes for the three people in front of me to be taught how the new process works. I predict this being a bigger problem in NYC because I am familiar with how our Board of Elections works. The employees are mostly old, part time workers who probably have never even used a fax machine before (our machines prior to this year were manufactured in 1960). I think that in less populated areas, where the GOP does well (NY is quite red outside NYC and the immediate suburban areas) these problems will be felt a lot less.

To be safe, I will be voting around noon on Election Day, instead of waiting for my wife to come home from work and going at 6 PM. I've also somehow lost my Democratic mother's application for an absentee ballot for some reason. Darn.

Posted by: Chris R at September 22, 2010 09:43 AM (AO4qz)

532 434 The advantage of an incumbant president has, no matter how unpopular he is is that the other party must go through a bruising primary process. I always thought that nastiness gave Bush a bit of an advantage in 2004, cuz that Dem primary was quite bruising. If ANYONE challenges Obama in 2012, it'll be a disaster, because all Obama will have is incumbency advantage. That's why I don't think anyone will do it. It might do more damage to the Dem cause than helping it. Look what happened to Carter in 1980 when Kennedy tried it, and Kennedy's 1980 campaign was an outright disaster.

What I worry more about is an independent running in 2012. Independents don't need primaries, and they are usually self-financing.

I wondered what happened to the people who signed their name that they voted and took the paper to fill out in pencil and insert into the machine to register their vote and then had to leave or be fired.   did the board of elections folks tell them "not to worry, we'll put your vote through the machine for you later" cause you know pencils have erasers.
