I was looking around the Utah political scene and found a Blue Dog in Utah's 2nd district who has an R opponent. The Dem (Matheson) seems to be a environut, but unfortunately the Rep (Philpot) isn't that impressive. He looks like a career politician (sporadic work history outside of gubmint).
It'd still be nice to get the Dem out, though.

Robert Hurt is poised to oust Pelosi-enabler Perriello (5thCD Va). But he needs money! Perriello is getting "green" money, union money & DNC/DRCC money.

polls in Virginia show where we could take at least 2 & maybe even 4 House seats.
so if you live where your House race is non-competitive (SF) or not contested, consider coming to Virginia for Election Day & working the polls! I promise ham biscuits, fried chicken & caramel cake.

Not a difficult test. Our schools have run screaming from any mention of religion, so it isn't surprising that we aren't particularly well informed about other religions, but still, those questions were easy!

I still can't figure out why my district isn't competative. We've got a 3rd term Dem, we are an R +6, we vote for R in Senate, Gov, and President, and state house and senate.
He was one of the few Dems who voted against obamacare and other unpopular bills, but he was one of the people who helped write hillarycare back in the 1990s, so those of us who follow politics knows where his try beliefs lie
And the Republican is this conservative who beat our a very well known establishment republican in the primaries.
I really am hoping for a suprise come election night.
it is the pa-4 by the way

For all the crowing AllahPundit did about how atheists did better on this test than religious people, I'm not impressed. There's very little in here about actual theology (aside from the transubstantiation hat tip I knew would be there to trip up cafeteria catholics) and several of the questions are about what is legal and what isn't in schools.

On the news this morning they said that Mormons did the best (of the religious folks), which would make sense based on the number of missions overseas they do. I confess, I was surprised Evangelicals did "well" (relatively speaking), perhaps because lots of the ones I've encountered spread a lot of disinformation about dirty papists (like self) and Mormons. My bias. *hangs head in shame*

Ben @ 26 - well Cook Political has it listed as "Likely Dem" (out of "Lean", "Likely", and "Solid"), it may be that the R is not a good fundraiser or otherwise has baggage, or that the D has a huge cash advantage
he does. Politico has a election tracker that shows the contents peoples campaign chests. Its something like 1.3 million to 300k.
However, this district is conservative, so it should be closer. I don't see my district in any of the potential republican gains. And the republicans aren't giving any money to the Republican candidate, Keith Rothfus.
It's odd. I would think the Republicans would target this district for a pick up. i know they are targeting PA-3 which is just north of here.

Analysts Warn: Home Prices to Take Hit Next Year in Many Markets
Don't take the latest snapshot of U.S. home prices too seriously.
The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller 20-city index released Tuesday ticked up in July from June. But the gain is merely temporary, analysts say. They see home values taking a dive in many major markets well into next year.

President Barack ObamaÂ’s lecture to his supporters to snap out of their lethargy is getting a frosty reception from some on the left side of the Democratic coalition.
“I think it is a remarkably condescending message,” said Darcy Burner, the executive director of ProgressCongress.org and the Progressive Congress Action Fund.
"The least he could do is acknowledge that progressives have legitimate concerns. Instead he’s condescending. It’s not helpful.”
Barry condescending? No! Can't be

BUCK 51%
BENNETT 43%
Buck pulling ahead quietly like Johnson in WI and Toomey in PA (the long term trendline)
That now makes 6 likely to solid GOP pickups
Republicans need JUST 4 of these 7: IL,WV,NV,CT,WA,CA,NY-B.
Lets see what PPP finds in Illinois today.

Who is the six, besides CO, PA and ND? And please add *BONG* to your list, if only because the DNC has been compelled to spend money there.

Here's a weird story:
Onorato's pronunciation helps cut Corbett lead; Toomey still in front
Critics who scoffed at Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato's decision to use television commercials to tell voters how to pronounce his name might want to hold their tongues.
While a poll released by Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster on Tuesday still shows Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett leading, it indicates Onorato has made up some ground over the past week.
In the race for U.S. Senate, however, GOP candidate Pat Toomey has a solid lead over Democratic candidate Joe Sestak, according to the poll.
[ . . . ]
"What's going on is that Dan Onorato has raised his name recognition by 10 percentage points, which is significant," Madonna said. "Dan has been greatly helped by those commercials, and the Democrats are starting to get their voters motivated."
--------
Teaching people how to say your name gets you 10 points? I live in a state full of 'tards.
