4 Glad to see we're still picking up House seats. That DOJ report posted below (131 pages of blah, blah, blah) seems to recommend either an expanded role for the House Investigative Comm. or another of those dreaded "Special Prosecutor"-types. We'll need all the votes we can muster.

Most, if not all, dictatorships have some trappings of Western democracies, such as a constitution.  The USSR had a Constitution, the Chi-Coms have a Constitution, and the EU-gits have just adopted their Constitution.

Keep in mind that section V of the VRA is still applicable (thanks to Kennedy). The DOJ would have to approve of any plan that eliminated Lee's district and that will never happen.

TX 25th District, a massive area with Austin only a spot on the edge. Of course, Doggett getting redistricted again would send all the Democrats out of state again during the next biennial State Legislative Session to prevent any votes for anything.

American rural constituents surrounding the City of Austin TX  have absolutely no voice in elections, every community united against Doggett who only won a majority of votes inside Austin to win his seat. All surrounding areas, conservative, have no representation, their votes don't count with a sum total that never amounts to what Austin Democrats crank out.

23 Speaking of redistricting in TX and AUSTIN in particular, DeLay's trial ended, awaiting the jury's decision whether to convict ("up to a life sentence"--FOX) without a law broken.

24 Gerrymander the Hell out of the Dem bastards. I'd like nothing better than to see that son of a bitch Doggett booted and the scumbag Dems in Austin swamped in a sea of conservative rural voters. I used to live in Austin and that bastard could not have been clearer about the fact that if you lived in his District and weren't a Progressive Liberal, you didn't have representation in Congress. I despise him so much I'd pay to see somebody beat his ass both literally and figuratively.

Since it looks like the remaining 2 in CA will go to the Dems, an observation is worth making. Despite having 53 seats (which is about 1/8 of all the seats in the country), absolutely NONE of them changed hands. Kinda speaks to how CA is sticking it's fingers in it's ears, going "la-la-la-la-la", and pretending nothing's wrong.

All 4 remaining seats, BTW,are being defended by incumbent Dems, so all are no-lose situations.

26 This is AWESOME news. I used to live in Ortiz's district and he is the worst kind of Democrat scum. He had a habit of playing the race card every chance he got, but it looks like he finally maxxed it out. Case in point: I remember vividly when the city of Corpus Christi changed the name of Agnes blvd. to Cesar Chavez blvd. in order to honor the hispanic civil rights icon. There was a big brouhaha in the city council about it because Agnes was a major street with a lot of hispanic family-owned businesses. Opponents of the initiative wanted to simply give the name to a new (though admittedly less important) street rather than rename a well-known major thoroughfare. Ortiz injected himself into the middle of it and managed to shut down all debate by calling opponents of the move racists... even though renaming the street was hurting hispanic-owned businesses who had to pay to change signage, advertising and promotional materials, as well as take a hit on lost business when people couldn't find their address. The man is a scumbag and it's a big win for America that he's gone.
