Um, Did Greg Gutfeld Just Kill The Ground Zero Mosque?
— DrewM

Greg Gutfeld of Red Eye and soon to be proprietor of NYC's first Islamic oriented gay bar was trying to get a comment form Ground Zero mosque organizers about whether or not they welcomed his establishment. You know, because of the tolerance and all.

Their response.

.@greggutfeld You're free to open whatever you like. If you won't consider the sensibilities of Muslims, you're not going to build dialog

You can see more of their responses to Gutfeld and others here .

Now, I'm pretty sure a lot of folks had the same message about the mosque...you can build it but it's not outreach, it's an insult. I seem to recall them getting called 'bigots', 'intolerant' and anti-religious freedom.

I can't wait for Mayor Bloomberg to denounce the anti-gay sentiment behind this lack of respect for gay Americans of all faiths.

Or perhaps, all sensibilities are equal, some are just more equal than others.

5 The imam's response makes perfect sense as long as you keep in mind that Islam is right and you're wrong.  You see, when you are the enlightened party, you're justified to do anything and say anything and who ever disagrees is an intolerant bigot.  In fact, being a Muslim is a lot like being a Progressive.

So the muslims are the tolerant victims who cut peopes heads off and stone people to death, and we are the horrible oppressors who are just saying hey, maybe you might want to think about moving that thing up the street, it's a little insensitive for you to build it here.

Yup.. your right, that is an awful lot like the same massive level of hypocrisy you get from a progressive.  I just wonder how tolerant the progressives backing this crap will feel when they start getting stoned to death and beheaded.

Screw the Ground Zero mosque -- Gutfeld needs to propose a CHAIN of gay BBQ bars, conveniently situated next to or across from every mosque in New York City.  Let's see how tolerant the Muslim community is then.

By the way -- wouldn't a museum of Mohammed cartoons also serve as a cultural bridge-builder, helping Muslims to appreciate fully the freedoms we enjoy under our Bill of Rights?

87 I'm not going to comment on the property issues involved, except that the rule of law should be followed.

Having said that, from the moral perspective, for those thinking religions don't celebrate victories by building religious centers, I offer you:

Battle Abbey, Hastings field
Conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque immediately after the conquest
Dome of the Rock

These things happen, and perhaps still happen. Therefore, I'm willing to open that "dialog", as I'm sure there is a large Muslim contingent in New York and thus the idea of a mosque or cultural center downtown is not outre per se. For my part, I'll start with this: Historically, we are told that there is a world of peace and a world of war. Is that still true? If it is still true, what does the new "cultural center" place that part of New York?

What is the already existing local Muslim population to be served? What are the other suitable existing centers nearby? Will the new center drain members from the existing populations?

And what is the goal? Is it merely to serve current Muslims in Lower Manhattan, or--like most, if not all religions--increase the number of adherents through new converts? What is the dream for the future of the center? What defines success?

Basically, my take is this--and I can be wrong, but it is my take: Muslims see a chance to convert the West. Not going to happen, but they see it. The mosque is not an embassy sent to restore an image tarnished by a despicable deed. It is a trophy. For you see, "trophy" in ancient Greek meant "the turning point", and a suitable marker was placed on the battlefield where the enemy turned tail and ran.

Like I said. My take. I'd like to trust the Islamic community. But you know, Rommel, you magnificent bastard:

I read your book.

So I would like to have this community dialogue and all that, but I have this one hangup, when I think about the Ground Zero Mosque not being a symbol to the faithful of a resurgent Islam as understood by the Wahhabi variant. .

And that is the fact that there is a Ground Zero. So that's going to have to be item one on that "dialogue". And the second is this--who wishes for the restoration of the Caliphate? Because, you see, as much as I would actually like Islam to return to the intellectual spirit of its golden age, say the tenth century, when pious men of integrity were honored and corrupt rulers looked upon with askance, I just got my doubts that a resurgent Islam is more about inward searching of one's soul in order to better show the glory of Allah and less about outward subjectification of others in the same time-worn way of ambitious men and empires. The first is in the best tradition of man, the second is just not going to be allowed.

96 I suspect that many gays in NYC are so multicultural, they'd side with the mosque.  I would like to see a Magic Pig Supermarket next door -  everything that the miracle animal can provide plus plenty of delicious smoked bacon and ham scent permeating the street.  Who wouldn't convert to get at that luscious goodness?

The gay bar should be huge (a Mecca if you will) with drinks heavily subsidized by contributions from all right thinking Americans.  Heck, put the restrooms on the mosque side for some hot gloryhole action!

No new bars within 200 feet of a Mosque, Church, School.

That is the law in NYC.

Yes, but look at the tweets. The Cordoba supporters insist that it's not a mosque. It's a ...Community Center!!!?!

So set 'em up Joe. (Where mah appletini at?)

It doesn't have to be a "bar" - It would be a Gay Muslim Outreach center.

It could raise money and awareness that gays are being murdered by religious Muslim political regimes in places like Iran.

Themed Bacon Martinis
The Tony Randall
- the bacon-steeped Vodka is passed through a coffee filter to remove bits of fat and bacon detritus.
The Breakfast BM - substitute a pickled quail egg for the olive.
The BLT -include a small lettuce leaf and a tomato slice
The Canadian - use Canadian bacon and vodka (Banff Ice, Iceberg, Polar Ice, Prince Igor )
The Pepper - use Absolut Peppar Vodka
The Sizzling - use a chile vodka such as Inferno
The Franklin - two olives, one for each 0 on a $100 bill.
The Jock - two olives, one on each side of the bacon bit.
The Tranny - two quail eggs and bacon (pre-Op)
The Dickens - no "olive or twist" (of lemon) "Please sir, may I have some more..."
The Bacon Gibson - substitute an onion for the olive
The Turkey - any combo crazier than the above, ie cranberry Vodka.

I stopped giving a fuck about the sensibilities of muslims when they blew up the barracks in Beirut, killing 241 American servicemen. I think at this point my regular response to muslims crying about their delicate sensibilities not being considered, is SUCK MY FUCKIN DICK.

130 The “religion” that by far and away shows the very least in the way of sensibilities to others not just wants, but expects, the very most in the way of sensibilities to be shown to it. Absolutely astounding. The only thing more astounding is that any non-muslim would put up with it. Islam is an obscene blot on all life and a foul scourge that should perish from the Earth.

140 Don't get too optimistic, the Saudi's will spread enough money around, and the mosque, outreach center, armory, bomb factory, or whatever will be built.

All that is necessary is for someone to spread about 1,000 pounds of bacon grease in the foundation - end of story.  It does not actually have to be done, Muslims will believe anything.

Another way would be to bring a Haitian voodoo priest to put a curse on it.  Muslims also believe in witchcraft.

I encourage the abuse hurled at the muslims. More the better to drive them out. They are f*ckin pussys ripe for it and hate it . But, seriously. they wont care, have seen it before and can deal with it, Their so-called religion at least allows for any slippage among any single male and even take it all in stride or celibrate it ...thats what islam is - license to loot. Our protests are weak. And they know it. Its obvious. We are obvious.

where is a serious challenge to them to turn them back from morocco to indonesia, instead of sending up our weak sisters to fight for us? Cordova is not just a mosque, its a tombstone, for us.

until we strike at their heart and destroy their symbols, houses and clergy and  icons, then take back our ground and eliminate their learning centers we arnt serious.
