Unbanning Progress (?)

Okay, I sent off six IPs to be unbanned yesterday, and just sent off another seven.

Two of the IPs people thought were banned were not, in fact, banned.

If you are banned, you will specifically get this message:

Your IP address (xxx.xx.xxx.xxx) has been banned. If you feel this is in error, please contact the blog owner by email

If you're not getting that message, you're not banned.

There is some other problem, which we can figure out (I hope), but it's not a banning, so don't say it is-- I mean, just because we wind up basically addressing the wrong problem at first.

One problem that people trip up on is simple: You need to enter an email address in order to post at all. Doesn't have to be a real email. I use "ace@fakeemail.com" myself. But it has to look like an email address. Without that you will never, ever be able to post, ever.

Other problems... I don't know. If you contact me and say "I can't post, but don't appear banned," I can try to figure out what's going wrong.

If you do think you're banned, please send me the full banned message, which includes your IP address, and we'll get that worked out.

Oh: Please follow-up with me after 24 hours if you're still banned or unable to post for other reasons.

If you sent emails yesterday, you should be fixed now, and if you're not, there's a problem.

If you sent emails last night or this morning, the emails just went out, so it will take a few hours at least.

Update: All Fixed Now. Hail Pixy!

Everyone who has written (whose email I have seen) has been unbanned if they were banned, or could be unbanned. One poor guy seems to share his IP with a bona fide spammer, so we can't unban that.

So, if you were banned, try posting again and see if things work now.

If not, write me back.
