— Ace Dead heat in IL-8 (Republican Joe Walsh improving versus Democrat Melissa Bean).
The dead-heat results are the second consecutive poll in the past weeks that indicate that Walsh has gathered slightly more strength while Democrat Melissa Bean has remained stagnant among voters.
And Phil "I Don't Care About the Constitution" Hare is in a dead heat too:
This news comes as the National Republican Campaign Committee, the House GOPÂ’s political unit, has a new internal poll saying Schilling is beating Hare, 44-43. National JournalÂ’s Hotline on Call reported the poll this morning.
Even in the governor's race, it looks like it could go Republican:
Polling in the 8th District also showed Republican candidate for governor Bill Brady has a much stronger-than-expected lead in this district, which can largely be attributed to his 17-point lead among Independent voters.
Phil "Mr. Mensa" Hare is refusing to debate, too.

This is probably the smartest thing that he could do and stay alive.

Ali G. took a $2.7 million tax deduction for his supposed 500 hours of work at Broadway in 2006..

The "progressives" here in Illinois are in full panic. I'm getting robocalls every day from one or more of them. Just got a robocall from a man who didn't even say hi, just launched right into "my son was killed by gun violence and Bill Brady is the most extreme pro-gun candidate............." at which point I hung up the phone.
Brady actually is fairly conservative for Illinois, he's from downstate not the Chicago area, and the libs are desperately trying to scare the fraidy-cats in northern IL that the state will become a shooting gallery (um, the south and west sides of the city already are worse than the wild west ever was), or that abortion will stop being a sacrament and you should stock up on bloody coathangers.
Those are the only issue on which libs can run, Gov Quinn is pushing for and had promised a huge tax increase if he is elected. Oh, and he just signed a sweetheart deal with the state's unions, guaranteeing no layoffs until 2012 if they endorsed him, which of course they did.

#125 - I think you make a good point there. Having Brady on the ticket is going to be a huge help for Kirk in the Senate race. I really didn't think Brady would win initially because of how provincial the Chicago area is, but am happy to see I may be wrong. Used to live in Bloomington and from what I know of Brady, he is much better than I expected Illinois to ever elect statewide.
People south of I-80 will be excited to have a downstate candidate for statewide office. I don't know that Mark Kirk himself gets too many downstaters excited, but Brady will get many of them into the voting booth and Kirk is going to get a boost from that. I don't know that pollsters are accurately factoring that into this, or not. I think downstate turnout is going to be huge.

Here in my section of the downstate Brady is running one hell of a campaign, and not just for him but the rest of the Republican canidates. He (actually, the GOPers behind his campaign) also managed to get in line with the Tea Party without taking it over, which is the smart course and it is a party wide campaign effort -- he isn't just running for himself. He's taken an accurate pulse of this state imho; he's bringing up all the right things.
In my district I think it might be hard for a Democrat to get elected dogcatcher, even in the traditionally Dem counties.
Posted by: unknown jane at September 29, 2010 06:18 PM (5/yRG)
btw I believe Brady even dropped by to see Beck & Breitbart when they were here in the chi-town area recently. Caught hell from the libs up here, but there wasn't really much to go on (Brady said Hi! to Glenn Beck! That's bad bad bad!)
Brady ran in the republican primary four years ago and lost, it would appear he has been taking notes on how to navigate the large numbers of libs up north.
