— Ace Because the new Obama plan is... too conservative?
Shyeah, right.
An influential House progressive says he’s less likely to vote for the final healthcare reform bill now that the White House has incorporated Republican ideas — which could indicate a serious problem is brewing among liberals as Democratic leaders try to figure out a way to finish work on the legislation.“As I weigh it, I think — for me — a ‘no’ vote is something that I continue to lean toward,” Rep. Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., the co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told Salon in a brief interview off the House floor Wednesday. “Especially the last additions — that was kind of a slap in the face for all of us who fought for the public option.”…
More: As I just updated the post on Eric Massa, Massa was actually a "No" vote on ObamaCare -- a committed liberal, he was determined that we should have single-payer or nothing else. Although one would guess he'll now vote for the measure -- he'll need to keep tight with Democrats if he wants lobbying jobs or bureaucratic appointments -- Grijalva guesses that Massa will keep his vote a "No." I guess... maybe to keep tight with liberal activist groups who want to keep the true-believer flame alive?
Allah hopes Grijalva and Acuri will encourage more Democrats to vote no:
The beauty of Arcuri and Grijalva speaking up, of course, is that itÂ’ll encourage other fencesitters to commit to voting no. The less likely it seems that this thing will pass, the less undecideds have to worry about their vote being the difference and the easier it becomes to abandon ship. HereÂ’s to an imminent dam burst.
Even the retiring Brian Baird -- almost counted as a gimme no-to-yes vote, because he's retiring and can afford to stick his thumb in the eye of his constituents -- isn't on board quite yet:
In a brief interview with Salon Tuesday night, Baird didn’t sound particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of switching his vote. “I get all these people advocating, calls and letters, saying vote one way or the other,” he said. “I don’t know how they know what’s going to be in it — because I sure don’t.”…
Click the link for McConnell's rebuttal to Obama's dishonest speech -- this isn't a conflict between Republicans and Democrats, he notes, but between Democrats and America.
Remember, Nancy Pelosi needs around 10-12 hardcore progressives to switch their votes -- and thusfar, she's not getting them.
Stupak Reiterates: He says again that 12 former yes votes are now "no" without the Stupak abortion language, via Phillip Klein.
More: Enoxo stresses Grivalja is a strong progressive vote and something of a leader in that caucus, so this is probably more than one vote we're looking at here.

Raúl began his public career as a community organizer when he joined with several other advocates to start El Rio Community Health Center. During his time at El Rio, Raúl worked with other activists to "encourage" local governments to "invest" in older and minority neighborhoods. He helped organize "neighborhood empowerment efforts" that prompted the city of Tucson to expand services to the south and west sides...
...From 1974 to 1986, Raúl served on the Tucson Unified School District. He was a hands-on board member who worked to increase funding and support for public education, and who advocated on behalf of teacher, employee and civil rights...
...Since his election to Congress in 2002, Raúl has worked to improve the quality of life for working families by promoting minimum wage increases, supporting legislation to prevent intimidation, and pushing to help employees organize and represent themselves in the workplace.

I'd love to know just who those useful idiots were standing behind him. All the doctors I work with are in absolute agita over all of this crap. They've been on an horrible anxiety yo-yo all year. I hope someone like Michelle Malkin or another resourceful blogger gets the 411 on these alleged "doctors" who were there in support of Obama's bill. (The nurses were most certainly all SEIU members, so that's a no-brainer). I'm thinking some of those docs were AMA tools.
It's amazing how the media isn't calling out Harry Reid for lying at the Health Care Summit ("No one's talking about reconciliation")--if he was a Republican, his lies would be on an endless loop. It's also disgusting that the media isn't calling out Obama for his own hypocrisy on reconciliation (Rush played 8 different clips of him decrying reconciliation, even when he was Presidential Candidate Obama, saying his health care plan would need 60 votes). Democrats are evil, stinking liars.
Oh, and I love how Obama called out Eric Cantor for resorting to cheap political props when he brought the actual 2 thousand plus paged bills to the "Health Care Summit", and then surrounded himself with supposed health care workers as he delivered his presser today. Rush said all they needed was a person who just died because they didn't have health care up there on that stage with Teh Bamster. I'm pissed off!

But that makes no sense. My lib/dem friends routinely let the latest greatest tech and then they donate their old tech to these websites so the phones and laptops and such can be recycled and given to someone in another poorer country. So, if this second hand (not really cause these people replace stuff like every 6 months) tech is going to other poor countries why would they do that if people in our own country don't have the tech? Why isn't it going to the 4% in our country then?

The last time he did this rediculous white coat schtick, they published the names and states of the doctors. I looked up about half of them. I'm sure if there ever were any true "stooges" of the insurance industry at any of those tea parties, our ever inquisitive media would have ferretted this information out. I'm so mad, I can hardly type straight! The media is so complicit in all of this crap. I'm thinking of updating Uncle Tom's Cabin. Some of the dialogue is a bit archaic for this day and age. I'm contemplating the following substitution. Instead of Tom saying "Massa, Massa, don't beat me", I'm going to substitute that with "Don't taze me Bro." The petulance and stupidity of liberals never ceases to amaze.
Do the extremist-left (aka "progressives") Congresscritters not understand that the bill is just an incremental step towards single payer socialist health care, or are they just too impatient to get there through incremental steps?
They could've passed a bill that would reliably lead to socialist healthcare simply by toning down the abortion language and some of the more nefarious provisions. A bill that would still impose restrictions on private insurers and create a public "option" that could (and likely would) be expanded later into single payer could've overcome a filibuster.
Instead it ended up a convoluted mess that pleased nobody. I shudder to think of the damage the Dems could've pulled off with a filibuster-proof majority in Congress and Obama in the White House were they not so short-sighted and stupid.

SEIU gave Teh Bamster a lot of money to get elected. They are an absolutely vile, evil, corrupt organization. Unfortunately, they represent the nurses at our hospital. Our hospital was trying to cut the pension benefit (they cannot afford it) and wanted to change it to a 403B instead. SEIU was threatening to go on strike (which was just absurd as the economy was turning sour at the time), and none of the rank and file non-nutter union nurses supported this. The Union worked out a deal where only Union members continue to get the defined pension benefit. Non-union workers (like me cause I'm grandfathered in, now we're closed shop) got their retirements switched over. The hospitals in my area are deathly afraid of SEIU (which seems to represent the majority of nurses in the majority of hospitals).

More on Massa from The Hill:
Massa announced he would retire from Congress after just one term, but said reports that he is under investigation for sexually harassing a male staffer are besides the point.
"There are blogs who are saying that I'm leaving because there are charges of harrassment against my staff," Massa said. "Do I or have I ever used salty language when I'm angry — especially in the privacy of my inner office or even at home? Yes, I have. And I have apologized to those where it's appropriate. But those kind of articles, unsubstantiated without fact or backing, are a symptom of what's wrong with this city."
Massa said he recently underwent his third major cancer recurrence scare, in December.
A 20-year Navy veteran who is married and has children, he was originally diagnosed with non-HogkinÂ’s lymphoma while he served in the military.
“I'm a very salty guy and a very direct guy, and I run at about 100 miles per hour," he said. "My doctors have made it clear to me that I can no longer do that."

Rep. Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., the co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus,
This idiot has got to be from Tucson. If you want to speak to the most retared people on the planet....go to Tucson! If you want your Son or Daughter to end up as a un-educated brainwashed indoctrinated Leftist Commie Scumbag send them to the University of Arizona in Tucson.
If he isn't from Tucson, then he is from the NorthEast corner (refer to Tucson)!

I realize that doing away with the filibuster will have pretty drastic unseen and easily foreseeable negative consequences but it will have been the Democrats call.

BTW, heard that BO sent out two emails today on health care, instructing them to push their friends and family to push the congress and senate peeps to vote this in already.

Fair and balanced at Fox:
GOP is turning to a familiar tactic in last-ditch effort to stall health care bill: make noise in town hall meetings, media
No bias in that wording is there?

Can you imagine if the Bush administration did this crap? Oh the outrage and outcry there would be! We don't have a President, we have a community agitator, grievance monger in chief. Unbelievable.

If Nancy manages to get enough votes in the house to pass the Senate bill, there won't be a reconciliation bill. Obama will have to sign the Senate bill passed in the House before they can do reconciliation. The House may come up with one, but then they have to pass that, too, before it goes to the Senate. Will there be 51 votes in the Senate to change a bill, (actually add more to it, and take some things away), that barely squeaked thru the Senate the first time? Odumbass does not care about anyone, but himself. If those idiots are stupid enough to trust him on this, then they're more stupid than we think, and that's saying something.
Still, I won't breathe easy until this carcass is stinkin' & maggot infested.

not all of the progressives voted for it last time.
Kucinich is a total kook, but he stands by his kookiness and won't vote for anything less than the public option. I give him credit for that.
But theres maybe only 6 or 7 true-blood liberals that actually believe the bullshit they spew, so don't count on a progressive block to the HC.

Even the retiring Brian Baird -- almost counted as a gimme no-to-yes vote, because he's retiring and can afford to stick his thumb in the eye of his constituents -- isn't on board quite yet:
I see this rationale a lot, but it doesn't make sense - why would a retiring representative go and slap his constituents? Why would he act any differently than he has already acted throughout his career? Why would a retiring representative make it difficult for his party to retain that seat?

The progressive caucus probably won't whip its 79 members to vote for or against the healthcare bill, Grijalva said. Two of them -- Rep. Eric Massa, D-N.Y. (who isn't running again in November) and Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio -- voted no on the House version of the bill last fall.
Again, it's a soft "no", but who it is coming from is a biggie. And the above paragraph from it tells me there will be other progressives to vote no this time--possibly besides the above two.
