Update on Taliban Teabagger
— Ace

That audio I just posted is not the plane being ordered back to the gate so that Shahad can be arrested.

Supposedly (and I'm not sure who's zoomin' who here) Shahzad was arrested and taken off the plane before it left the gate. Then it was cleared for take-off. Then it was instructed to return to the gate, because some Einstein finally figured out that if there had been a terrorist on-board just minutes before, maybe they ought to screen the plane for thoroughly for a hidden explosive or additional fleeing accomplices.

A senior US official is saying that Napolitano is just "trying to put lipstick on a pig" by pretending, once again, "the system worked."

NBC's Jim Miklaszewski reports that a senior U.S. official familiar with events surrounding the capture of Shahzad says if the security system had worked properly, "He should have never been able to get on that airplane."

According to the official, Shahzad's name was put onto the U.S. "no-fly list" about 11 a.m. Monday, some 12 hours before he was taken into custody aboard that United Arab Emirates flight that pulled away from the gate at JFK, bound for Dubai. As required, once the plane was locked up and started to pull away from the gate, the airline submitted the final manifest to customs. According to one official, "We're extremely fortunate that alert agents caught the name, and ordered the plane to return to the gate."

But the official says Shahzad's name should have set off alarms throughout the ticketing and boarding process before he ever buckled his seat belt. The system should have first been triggered when he purchased the ticket. If he purchased the ticket before his name was placed on the "no-fly list," then the airline and authorities should have been alerted when he got his boarding pass, either from an agent or one of the self-service kiosks. That's especially true on an international flight, because his passport would have been electronically scanned before he was issued a boarding pass. Even at the boarding gate, there are systems that alert TSA and customs officials to someone on the "no-fly list" attempting to board a flight.

Although Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano said even if the plane would have taken off, U.S. officials had the authority to turn the plane around, one official pointed out that since the suspect had allegedly attempted to set off a bomb in Times Square, there's no predicting what may have happened on board the plane in flight.

"She was just attempting to put lipstick on a pig," the official said. "If that plane would have gotten into the air, heads would have rolled. We need to do a better job."

Thanks to DrewM.

It's the only flight security measure that's proven it can work, so they don't use it. And I do mean "So." A hell of a lot of donors, diplomats and Prominent Citizens wouldn't be in the air if they did, and that just can't be.

"She was just attempting to put lipstick on a pig," the official said. "If that plane would have gotten into the air, heads would have rolled. We need to do a better job."

Nah!  There would have been no rolling heads even if the plane took off and there's probably not much in way in extradition from Dubai.  Because this is a Democrat administration, everyone would be cool with it all.  The media would do wall to wall coverage about how this guy was just an incompetent loser, and how it didn't make much sense to pursue him.  Besides, with all the evil imperialistic acts of aggression committed by Bushitler, this man was justified to plant a bomb outside the theater district.  All that illegal warfare in the middle east just created more terrorists, and obviously this lost soul was influenced by that as well as the recent foreclosure of his home (also a direct result of the Bushitler Recession).  There would be a lot of kudos to President Obama and Homeland Security for almost nabbing the bad guy, but because of Dick Cheney screwing it all up, they weren't able to quite get the collar on the perp.  In a sane world, heads would have already rolled after the underwear bomber and Eric Holder would have never been confirmed AG.

Holy Cow!  Way o/t but moronworthy!  From Hotair:

A Peruvian mother of four was trapped in her bed for six months because of her giant breasts.

Julia Manihuari's chest grew to a gigantic N cup after the birth of her third son seven years ago — leaving her unable to move, The Sun reported.

"It was awful," she said. "If I tried to get up I would faint because my breasts were so heavy."

Manihuari, 29, who lives in northern rural Peru, was finally helped when local media paid for her to take a three-day boat trip to the nearest town for medical help.

Doctors believe she was suffering from a rare condition known as gigantomastia, which is characterized by excessive breast growth that may occur spontaneously during puberty or pregnancy, or while taking certain medications, according to the National Institues of Health.

While the exact cause of gigantomastia is not known, Dr. Cynara Coomer, a breast surgeon and Fox News contributor said in this particular case, it could be due to the hormones that are present during pregnancy.

“During pregnancy, there’s a surge of hormones — both estrogen and progesterone — that cause the breast tissue to increase,” Coomer said. “In normal women, they will notice an increase of one to three cup sizes during pregnancy. But in this case, this was an extreme overgrowth of her breast tissue, most likely in response to the hormones.”

Surgeons had to cut 35 pounds of flesh from Manihuari's breasts, fearing they could squash her lungs and kill her.

Manihuari emerged as a size 34B after the six-hour operation.

"Before the operation I couldn't do anything — I just had to live with it. It got so bad that my breasts were touching my legs," she said. "I have always had a small build, and the stress on the rest of my body was agony."

Wonderful.  I was under the impression yesterday that Shahzad was being tracked before he got on the plane and that they let him on because they wanted to know if accomplices joined him.

If the system can't flag a person on the no-fly list before they get on the freaking plane...that's a big fucking deal.

44 Note this story also shows that he didn't get on the plane because we only check passports when people enter the country.  That issue was a red herring.

The current story seems to be that Emerites hadn't updated its no-fly database, so he wasn't flagged when he checked in. Supposedly, they let authorities know someone had just paid cash for a flight.

New word. Forgive me if it's already been done.

"Talibagger"

81 I had to go there.  Watched Chrissy on MSPMS.  One of his "experts" mentioned the Tolleebagger's angst over losing his house to foreclosure as being a reason he may have tried to blow up Times Square.  Chrissy, nodded earnestly and agreed it made sense.

These douchebags running their pie holes while folks in Tennessee and Kentucky are dead and drowning.   And  another  soldier died in Iraq .

The hate....it hurts.

82 In every TV show and movie where the guy's trying to get away from the cops, he always tries some sneaky thing involving rowboats over the Rio Grande or faked documents and a sweet disguise to get away from the hyperefficient security apparatus which has all his particulars, and has shared them with apparently every human in a 500 mile radius.

Meanwhile, some dillhole saunters onto a plane bound for the most obvious place a jihadi fuck would run, paying cash for a ticket, using HIS OWN PASSPORT whose number the Feds are fully aware of, and not attempting any disguise, and he only gets caught because he's yapping on his phone.

What. The. Fuck.

So Janet Napolitano isn't having WTR followed because of her Ace of Spades' commenting records? Whew. I was worried for a minute there.

Luck is not a strategy.

But what can we expect from the Smarterest administration EVER!

Posted by: s'moron at May 04, 2010 03:53 PM (UaxA0)

86

Why canÂ’t this administration administer a No-Fly List?

The only thing on ObamaÂ’s No-Fly List is the F-22.

And the F136
And SDI missiles.
And ICBMs.
And Israeli jets.
And the Constellation Moon Rockets

Umar Abdulmutallab and Faisal Shahzad? Not so much.

Lets he fair we can!t blame Obamaf or this numbnuts' actions any more than it
was fair to blame Bush for 9/11. 300 miffion people in the US; the Prez can't be
everywhere and know everything all the time, and even if he could, we wouldn't want that kind of surveillance. So I give the Messiah a skip on that part.

However. I do blame the Messiah for

I) discling in detail how this shithead was caught; why not just write a fucking
training manual for Al Qaeda while he's at it?

2) barely catching said numbnuts by a red-you-know-what; and

3) I'm preparing to get pissed off by the half-assed prosecution the DoJ will
probably conduct.

I almost feel >-< that sorry for the libtards and donks.....

they have to work against 8 years of their histrionics painting Dubya as "the failed god" and it is killing them.....

in order for them to have their rabid hatemongering Bush had to be simultaneously the most potentially powerful man on Earth and the dumbest....

They wanted to take credit for everything positive that had happened during Klinton's reign in the big chair so they wanted to create the idea that if a goat farted in Assholistan and a dove fell into a humvee in iraq and the beating wings of the flies over the camel corpses in Baghdad generated Katrina a more powerful storm than it elseways should have been then it was Chimp McSmirk's failure to use his Godlike office to scratch behind Sugar ray nagin's ears that created Al $harpton's "black holocaust".....

See their entire narratove is built upon the idea that not only CAN the state do all but the state SHOULD do all all the time, and then we see Barry Soetoro screw the pooch on the oil spill listening to the moonbats he put in charge at DOE, Interior, and FEMA wail about the "air pollution" the fire was causing.....

Gold Star for you boys but ideology isn't gonna trump physics.....

Physics say that oil is gonna go somewhere now you could have had it burning into the atmosphere buying time to get you capping solution in place but instead you decided to let the oil take a slow cruise through the Gulf on its lap around Mexico to Florida....

Hats off.

Jugears the Clown is gonna give a real Q+A presser before the elections.....I lay even odds he finally has that five alarm meltdown he's been nursing in private since last fall.

95 I have a little fixation with the fertilizer thing. I was reading a little bio of Shahzad and there was discussion of his bomb again. This is the line I read: police bomb experts believe it wasn't a type volatile enough to explode like the ammonium nitrate grade fertilizer used in previous terrorist bombings. I just want to emphasize that police have not said the fertilizer was harmless. - that was a reporter extrapolation. The fertilizer wasn't the big boomer ammonium nitrate, that's all they said. It was another kind mixed with sugar - probably exactly the same kind used in model rockets and smoke bombs and so forth, and if properly ignited, could well have caused a significant explosion.

96

Lipstick and a Pig don't belong in the same sentence with Napolitano--unless you add fertilizer and stir.

As for the ammonium nitrate; usually when it's used in blasting as a commercial grade explosive--or in  terrorist bombs, people try to mix some diesel fuel with it.   But you still need a detonator of some sort to set it off (although a hot fire will do it). The shock from a stick of dynamite will do as well.

Our little  Pakistani terrorist must have been cutting class when he went to bomb school in Pakistan last spring. He forgot the diesel fuel, the two sticks of dynamite and a working timer mechanism.

Our New Messiah and Ms. Incompetano got lucky and dodged another one on Saturday night. They can't get lucky forever, and eventually they're going to get some of us killed.

98 SAn francisco sob sister - Fox said he used a nitrate sugar blend. So yeah, It wasn't a McVeigh NH4NO3 with diesel (and charges), but that doesn't mean what was there was harmless: just far less powerful. Unless he's stupid enough to pick some kind of slow-release stuff up at the home depot.

Right, just like after 9/11.
