Well: Leaflet Allegedly Dropped by Pro-Russian Forces Holding Eastern Ukraine Orders All Jews Over 16 Years Old to Register as Jews, Listing All of Their Property They Own

Chilling, but at the moment this is very sketchy and unconfirmed.

A leaflet distributed in Donetsk, Ukraine calling for all Jews over 16 years old to register as Jews marred the Jewish communityÂ’s Passover festivities Monday (Passover eve), replacing them with feelings of concern.

The leaflet demanded the cityÂ’s Jews supply a detailed list of all the property they own, or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportion and see their assets confiscated.


However, we have yet no confirmation of this story, nor any admittance that the leaflets are real. The leaflets, after all, could be some kind of agent provocateur operation to discredit the pro-Russian insurgents.

But... I don't know about that. I hate to cast aspersions on a large population, but it's my understanding that Ukraine is fairly anti-semitic. So I don't know what the PR effect of a fake leafletting campaign would be.

Unless those distributing the leaflets think Jews Control The World and hence that any perceived threat to Ukraine's Jewry would result in NATO storming in to repel the Russian insurgents.

Which is its own issue.

Update: I needn't have been as skeptical as I was. They're real.

The leaflets bore the name of Denis Pushilin, who identified himself as chairman of “Donetsk’s temporary government,” and were distributed near the Donetsk synagogue and other areas, according to the report.

Pushilin acknowledged the flyers were distributed by his organization but he disavowed their content, according to the web site Jews of Kiev, Ynet reportedÂ…

So Pushilin says he doesn't agree with the order, but acknowledges his men are in fact ordering Jews to register.

That forced prayer shit (going on in a lot of schools in the first half of the 20th century) was highly objectionable and I think it left a subsequent bad taste in their mouth. I've talked with a lot of older Jewish people who told me tales of this, and how vehemently it was resented. And as with most people, party affiliation tends to be generational. Children generally follow the party affiliation of their parents.

It wasn't a treaty and they never had nuclear weapons.  They had some nukes on their soil which were guarded by Russians, and could not be armed without PAL codes which were back in Moscow and at best would have taken many months to crack.  Any attempt to seize them would have resulted in a Russian invasion or pre-emptive strike.  They gave up the nukes because they were useless.

As J.J. Sefton says, Serbia revolted from being a Nazi ally so that took a month out of the warm weather.  That revolt was probably one of the best things the British ever did, even though it got the Serbs hammered.   The Balkans continued for the whole war to be a smaller side war because the Italians and their Ustaci allies were competing against the German backed Serbs, there were still Royalists loyal to the Jugo King, Tito and his Communist Partisans; it was a heady and lethal brew.

The Italians were like GM is to Detroit, a net drain.  The Germans went into North Africa because Il Douche's armies could not conquer Egypt.  Greece was not too bad.  But seizing Crete was the last hurrah of the German paratroopers.

So once the Germans sorted out their restive Balkan front, it was on to the big show Barbarossa.  Where the Red Air Force was quickly exterminated.  German panzers, usually Mk IIIs, dashed ahead and encircled large numbers of Russian soldiers only to see many of those Soviet troops escape capture because the German infantry was still predominately on horse.  And the Germans violated the concept of Mass by aiming to seize Leningrad, Stalingrad and the oil fields, and oh by the way Army Group Center which tried to reach Moscow before winter.

The logic of 'for want of a shoe the battle was lost' has been faulty since its inception hundreds of years ago.

 

Truth is, Hitler was a poor military planner and strategist. His military plans worked only insofar as he had little to do with them, especially given the extraordinary caliber of generals such as Guderian, Rommel, and Manstein. His order that the Sixth Army in Stalingrad 'fight to the last bullet' rather than attempt a breakout from the Kessel is a good example of this.

Now a Christian myself, I've been supportive of Israel most of my life, hold no prejudice against Jewish people, and believe the United States should do all it can to ensure the survival of the Jewish state. That said, I absolutely refuse to share any kind of collective blame for Jewish hardships and persecutions by various and sundry governments and religious groups over the centuries.  I also refuse to take any blame or feel any guilt for Dred Scott, Jim Crow,  the Battle of Wounded Knee, or any other historical crime or injustice over which I personally had no say, voice, or vote whatsoever. I don't approve, didn't do it, wasn't there--and neither, for that matter, were those who are now seemingly demanding that I feel guilty about it.

 

The whole idea of generational collective guilt is bullshit.

Yes, this is a huge part of the tragedy.  Germany was "das Land der Dichter und Denker", the land of poets and thinkers.  It was at the forefront of chemistry, engineering, philosophy and the arts.  Many of its intellectual leaders were Jewish, and they just couldn't fathom that what was happening around them was actually happening there.

In other words, it was not the Christianity, it was the culture of the people, their traditions and heritage, not their faith that was the problem.
The truth is, the opposition to Christianity has far less to do with actual history and more to do with leftist ideology being the de facto religion of the modern western Jew.

I think you can buy it here in Canada, and also in the USA. There was a copy in my high-school library (English translation). I tried to read it, but it's unreadable trash. I really doubt very many decent people, of any background, would become Nazis from reading Mein Kampf, it's such turgid unreadable crap.



It's one of those books that the true believers buy, to prove they ARE a true believer. Kinda like "Dreams of My Father".

Pushilin claims that the leaflet is betrayed by the title it attributes to him - 'people's gubernator'. An interesting thing is that it is mostly Ukranian Media (prior to the leaflet) that calls Pushin a 'people's gubernator' when he became a replacement for arrested Pavel Gubarev. I will have to look up Ostkrieg. The most factual and well-documented (and mapped) history of Barbarossa and Blau that I have read so far was prepared by the Department of the Army (ours, not theirs) in 1955.  Publication No. 20-261a.  Dry but fact-filled.

Among other things, it mentions that by the beginning of December the Germans had suffered almost 750,000 casualties, 65-75% of their tanks had been put out of action, and their army in the east had declined in strength from the equivalent of 145 divisions to around 83.  While during the same period the Russian strength had actually increased from the pre-war estimate of 203 infantry and cavalry divisions and 46 armored brigades to 303 infantry/cavalry divisions and 51 armored brigades.

The Germans made mistakes, to be sure, but so did the Russians.  And for the bottom line numbers to be running so heavily against the Germans even after the "successful" campaigning season of 1941 indicates that the Wehrmacht never really stood a chance.
