24 Chyron duty is usually given to the low man on the production totem pole, with little to no verification done that the person can type... or even spell.

Oh yeah, and they're often baked.

Not that I would know anything about Chyron operators being baked on the job.

It's just a theory, really, based on nothing more than speculation.
