Having worked to build good will through nonideological causes like fighting obesity and assisting military families, aides say, she is ready to spend some of her political capital to advance President Obama’s agenda — and her own.
How could these guys be so detached from reality?
Oh, right, the MFM pumps them full of pretty wishcasting lies every day.
Thanks, MFM... sometimes you really come through for us.
Thanks to someone.

OMG.
My wife who could not stand Bush, absolutely could not stand George Bush but loved, absolutely loved Laura Bush, and used to say, the man can't be that horrible if a classy lady like Laura Bush married him.
She cannot stand Michelle Antoinette. Absolutely cannot stand her and her elitist snubbing of America and Americans and the US military.
These people truely are completely disconnected with America, I don't think they ever were connected.
Its stunning they don't realise, after this Spain escapade [and the list is not exhaustive], people will be LESS inclined to vote for anyone Michelle Antoinette endorses and campaigns for.

"Right now — and this is a problem for them — I do think Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, they are the leaders of the party," Plouffe said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "There is an intolerance in that party and an extremism that I think is where the real energy is,
and so I think you'll see in '11 and '12 with that presidential
primary, those are going to be the people who come out to vote."
Tea-party-backed candidates — from Sharron Angle in Nevada, Rand Paul in Kentucky and, most recently, Joe Miller in Alaska — have enjoyed high levels of success in primary battles, but Plouffe and the Democrats are banking on the hope that these candidates will alienate independents and more moderate Republicans.
*Sarah Palin is an extremist, though on abortion 52% agree with Palin; on immigration 55% agree with her; on smaller government 63%; on taxes 66%. To appeal to moderates and women, Democrats will send Moochelle.

There is also some truth to what Soona says about an October surprise. however, if it's letting the tax cuts be extended, I don't see thathappening. Now they can promise that they will do it after the election, but all we have to do is point out all those people who lied about their vote for health care, and we pretty much neutralize that promise.
If they pass the tax cut extension now, it won't make any difference to most people, because things will stay the same. Not too much passion in "Boy am I lucky! Nothing changed!"
Meanwhile, unemployment will still be low.
And if he thinks he's going to score in foreign policy, he's delusional.

What Accounts for First Lady's Failing Popularity?
After a widely admired start in the White House, first lady Michelle Obama's popularity is falling and, if the current downward trend in her approval ratings continues, could touch lows not seen since the scandal-tainted days of Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, 50 percent of those surveyed say they have a positive opinion of Mrs. Obama. That's down from 64 percent in April 2009 and 55 percent in January of this year. The first lady's positive rating is barely ahead of her husband's personal-approval figure, which stands at 46 percent in the new poll.

This is just more of the hate and misinformation permeating the left. She was 16 or 17 years old and not drunk, but it was a terrible accident.
But is doesn't matter, because the lie is much better than the truth. Michelle Obama hasn't killed anyone in a traffic accident, has probably never broken the law (even just driving over the speed limit, which I have done many times), or anything reprehensible. She is just a sour, unpleasant woman who frankly dresses in a strange way sometimes.
She's the one that probably got Barack to go to Rev. Wright's church, because is would give him poltical street cred with the neighborhood.
She was the AA hire at the hospital where she was pulling down $300K big ones a year to do....what?
And why did she surrender her law license in Illinois?

Ace, you're way off here. The First Lady made the Maxim's 100 list -- compiled by professionals, not Democratic operatives. To the average Joe like me, that's appealing, and as they say, sex sells. To most women, she's Jackie O, except she's proven herself in a responsible healthcare job. Plus, she's basically focussed on the diet issue, which is the most popular topic of conversation among women. In short, everyone can relate to her.
My prediction: Michele is a game-changer, and the Democrats keep (or even gain) in both houses of Congress
Well that's true, she is totally relatable. I know in hard economic times I spend $400 on ghetto fab kicks.

This has to be the funniest sentence I've ever read. No woman thinks she's Jackie O.......they think she's a dressed up uglio who some of them want to like because they either want stash or they love marxism. She is classless, dresses horribly, makes awful decisions, and is a nasty faced bitch. She didn't prove shit in a job given to her to help get favors from her politically connected husband. In fact, she appears all that much more ridiculous because of it. On top of that she can't even care for her own children and has to have her mother come to care for them. And let's not ever start on taste..her's is abominable. She makes Bess Truman, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Mamie Eisenhower look like playboy bunnies. How insane are you?

I'm one and more are on the way
I'm two, doctor
Three's on the line
He'll take incubation another day
I'm all alone, so are we all
We're all clones
All are one and one are all
All are one and one are all
We destroyed the government
We're destroying time
No more problems on the way
I'm through doctor
We don't need your kind
The other ones
Ugly ones
Stupid boys
Wrong ones
I'm all alone, so are we all
We're all clones
All are one and one are all
All are one and one are all
Six is having problems
Adjusting to his clone status
Have to put him on a shelf
(Please don't put me on a shelf)
All day long we hear him crying so loud
I just wanna be myself
I just wanna be myself
I just wanna be myself
Be myself
Be myself
I'm all alone, so are we all

I have, indeed, voted Republican my whole life and am very socially conservative. However, it's disingenuous not to recognize that Mrs. Obama has a charm and appeal that transcends politics. She hasn't polarized moderates and independents like Palin, but had rather steered a gentler, mom-based non-ideological agenda. I find myself drawn to her despite my politics. I may just sit this one out (although it's clear that she'll drive Democrats and moderate Republicans to the polls in record numbers).

See, Mrs. Obama doesn't.
She hasn't polarized moderates and independents like Palin,
Mrs. Obama is a spouse, not a candidte - Todd Palin hasn't done much polarizing either, except to Sarah, if you get my meaning, and I think that you do.
but had rather steered a gentler, mom-based non-ideological agenda.
"Your kids are fat - we need the Government to keep us all healthy." Is neither gentle nor non-ideological. Michelle's been a cipher - there's no traction with her organic gardening, her healthy living, or her VA family stuff because Michelle Herself doesn't particularly care about these issues.
By way of contrast - Arnold Schwarzenegger was George HW Bush's Presidential Fitness Guy - he was all over that shit back in the day. Because he believed in it. Michelle doesn't believe in this cause - it found her, by accident, it seems.
I find myself drawn to her despite my politics. I may just sit this one out (although it's clear that she'll drive Democrats and moderate Republicans to the polls in record numbers).
Moderate Republicans will be voting against Obama, not Michelle - there won't be one damn vote cast on the "let Michelle be Michelle " ticket.
Michelle is non-credible on the issues.
And the only one she has to blame for that is her own damn vacationing self.

So if I'm to understand your logic here....
In terms of the election:
Despite every poll, left, neutral, and right, that show Rs with the marginal advantage because of -
*failed nearly one trillion dollar stimulus
* bloated debt
*the passage of Obamacare when the majority of Americans didn't want it
*the House passage of the wildly unpopular crap & tax bill
* unimaginable unemployment
* suing AZ for following federal law -- America disagrees
* wanting a mosque built near GZ-- again America disagrees
(shit, I'm sounding like Hannity here. I'ma gonna stop!)
So......
Besdies ALL of that, Dems keep the House & Senate because she 'graced' the cover of Vogue?

Also, you might not read a bunch of magazines but Sarah's been on the cover of periodicals with articles like "Why We Chose Life" - which,. you know, might not compare with Michelle's '$10,000 for a summer camp? How We Managed" and "Arugla - Nature's Leafy Green" articles too favorably.

Undoubtedly. The difference this time is the public (or at least enough of them) now realizes the media is full of shit and lying its ass off. Its not going to fly this time.
They've already started in with the "scare the seniors" rhetoric, but all the seniors I know (and its quite a few) aren't buying. They've figured out that they've been lied to and they're pissed off.

Boogie woogie, woogie!
But you know it's there,
Hair here there everywhere
I've got to move,

I've got to groove, groove, groove,
And from this wookie I just can't hide.
Are you comin' with me?
Open the refrigerator and climb inside
And I'll teach you, teach you, teach you
I'll teach you moves that will save your life
Some say it's mythic
It's a Sasquatch!
Boogie woogie, woogie
You can't resist it
But you're racist!
Boogie woogie, woogie
You can't play dumb
You're for dinner!
Boogie woogie, woogie
Jiggle-a-mesa-cara she's a pumpin' like a matic
She's movin' like Hair Jordan
She sure is a wookie

Her beeper goes off, people think she backing up
And squeeze you, you squeeze you, squeeze you
Between the butt cheeks of her double wide

Logprof, I agree with you. Painting her with the wookie and Klingon monikers is a justifiably irate populace venting their spleen upon her. She is an average looking woman.
We don't elect presidents because they have hot wives. Mamie Eisenhauer and Eleanor Roosevelt weren't exactly lookers. I do resent the overeach of the MFM trying to make her another Jackie Kennedy. Frankly it makes the MFM look stupid and it isn't flying.
This makes the present occupants of the Whitehouse and the Dems look pathetic and helpless. This lady has lost all cred except with the lefties who's vote they still have. She has put her foot in her mouth too many times. Spain, the taxpayer funded dates have put her and her family into the, "Who do they think they are, royalty?" status.
I do welcome this pathetic last ditch plan. It may keep them from doing something smart that might help them.

don't seem to be getting through. Perhaps I should put it on a more instinctive level. I was at The New York Zoological Conservancy last week and one of the exhibits had the cutest gorilla cubs frolicking around. They were all going in different directions -- much like the American public -- but then their mother came out and gathered them together in a show of amazing strength yet touching tenderness.
I think that's the way most people think of Mrs. Obama.
Gorillas typically have one cub per gestational period. Twins are quite rare. And, typically, they give birth about every three years after an 8.5 month gestation period. And, socially, the other female gorillas wouldn't allow this act of "gathering them around" --
So, this act of euphemism you witnessed at the Bronx Zoo last week was probably just Val-u-Rite induced.
My advice - take two horse tranquilizers - remember, they're suppositories - and lie down sideways.

Jackie was soft-spoken and lady-like in public. She worked like a dog on restoring the White House and acquiring furniture for it (none of which Michelle even appreciates or understands). She could speak French.
Jackie's designers were Dior, Balenciaga, and Oscar De la Renta. She ALWAYS WORE STOCKINGS AND FOUNDATION GARMENTS. She always was proud of her country, until she got scared about her children after Bobbie was assassinated.
Michelle is no Jackie. Not even close.

Finally, their track records, at least the ones revealed so far, indicate a sub-performing and frequently failing history of mediocrity.

I felt that and still try to feel it, but after going after Sarah Palin's family and Bush's daughters, while giving Chelsea Clinton, Al Gore's son, and Joe Biden's daughter a free pass, I'm starting to come to the conclusion that the only way they'll lighten up in attacking families on our side is if they get sick to the gut of attacks on theirs.
I won't say I'm proud of that, but I would like to reach a different conclusion and am finding it more difficult.

There ARE good pictures of Michelle out there. She can look good when she dresses appropriately, doesn't cross her legs, stands up straight and smiles.
But for thee first time in US history, we have a FLOTUS who has 30 "OMFG! WHAT WAS SHE THINKING!" pictures for every one good shot. Unless you're so drunk on the koolaid you never look beyond HuffPo and Vanity Fair, you've see a few of them.
Sadly, if you live in the real world, you've seen most of not all of them. From the ratty grey shorts getting off of AF1, to the 'I'm wearing a maxipad-see it outlined here" blue dress, to wearing things so tight we can know the width of the elastic in her panties. When it comes to clothes, the woman is a trainwreck of inconsistencies and bad judgment.
People want to be proud of their FLOTUS, not ducking their heads in shame.
Toss in her gaffs, her rudeness, her 'vacations', her overt mean spirit, her snarking etc and she's THE most unpopular FLOTUS in history.

Here is Jackie O's biography from Wikipedia:
Jacqueline Bouvier spent her early years in NYC and East Hampton, NY at the Bouvier family estate, Lasata. Following their parents' divorce, Jacqueline and Lee divided their time between their mother's homes in McLean, VA and Newport, RI and their father's homes in New York City and Long Island. She attended the Chapin School in New York City. At a very early age she became an enthusiastic equestrienne, and horse-riding would remain a lifelong passion. As a child, she also enjoyed drawing, reading and lacrosse.
She pursued her secondary education at the Holton-Arms School at Bethesda, MD and at Miss Porter's School in Farmington, CT.
When she made her society debut in 1947, Hearst columnist Igor Cassini dubbed her "debutante of the year."
Bouvier spent her first two years of college at Vassar College and spent her junior year (1949–1950) in France at the Sorbonne in a program through Smith College. Upon returning home to the United States, she transferred to George Washington University in Washington, DC, graduating in 1951 with a bachelor of arts degree in French literature. Bouvier's college graduation coincided with her sister's high school graduation, and the two spent the summer of 1951 on a trip through Europe. This trip was the subject of her only autobiographical book, One Special Summer, which is also the only one of her publications to feature her drawings.

Hey, I am an equal opportunity snarker about fashion. Laura Bush had some loser outfits, principally because I think clothes aren't high on her priority list. Hillary Clinton could look good, but her high-water mark was during the 1992 campaign, when her hair was longer with a headband and she wore tailored clothes.
Michelle's clothes didn't look too bad during the campaign. Mostly she wore tasteful suits, but that was when they were trying to convince us that we were looking at Cliff and Claire Huxtable, with Rudi and Vanessa being towed along in their wake.
But then he got elected, and we haven't seen a one of those suits again. Now we see the shorts, the too-tight pants, the revealing tanktops (which Robin Givens in the Washington Post says she doesn't wear), the blue toenails, the hideous tablecloth prints, etc. etc.
The clothes are ugly and inappropriate. My theory is that either she or her stylist is getting a kickback from the designer.

430 Anybody have any song suggestions that were on the radio say from 1980-83 or so?
I don't remember much but comparing it to late '70s punk, IMO it was a dark age. I'd cite the Police and David Bowie but both were starting to fall off by 1980. Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, New Order, Cocteau Twins and Siouxsie were putting out music but (1) it didn't get to the radio as of 1983 and (2) it wasn't as good as the fanboys claim.
What I remember in the years after disco / punk and before Blue Monday / new-wave: Eurythmics, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Michael Jackson (his later history makes people forget just how important he was then), Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark.
Prince's stuff from then holds up best. Oh, and Talking Heads. IMO, again.

444 HA has a link where Sen. Coburn believes obamacare was intentionally set up to fail, so that single payer can be installed.
I think you're giving them credit for intelligence that they don't have...they are just doing the opposite of the way it is now, because that's their roots...'counter-culture'...the very opposite of the way things are done is the best thing...fucking hippies...conventional wisdom built up over the last 200 years or so is out the window...just because there was a glut of baby boomers in the population and childish assertion came into fashion...Nancy Pelosi is a prime example...someone with the age of an octo-genarian but the maturity of a 14 year old.

Absolutely!
Here's another thing: when the Kennedy White House had entertainment, they had Pablo Casals, not some loser rap artists or has-been rockers.
I, too, am an ex-democrat. JFK was elected when I was in the 7th grade, and Bobbie was assassinated when I was an Air Force wife in West Berlin. My teenage and young adult years were filled with the Kennedys, and I admired her as First Lady very much.
So even though I have been a conservative since 1979, I still cherish those memories, and I resent the hell out of the Obamas co-opting Jackie Kennedy's image.
And one thing above all is this: Jackie Kennedy didn't bother us, harangue us, or embarrass us.

But for thee first time in US history, we have a FLOTUS who has 30 "OMFG! WHAT WAS SHE THINKING!" pictures for every one good shot. Unless you're so drunk on the koolaid you never look beyond HuffPo and Vanity Fair, you've see a few of them.
That. Plus the MFM acts like she's perfect and beautiful. They put her on the covers of soooo many magazines that I bet even people who once liked her got tired of seeing her.
And that tank top last month with a non-functional bra? This is the First Lady of the United States. I think "class" is a job requirement.

Good thing that Obama ended the war in Iraq and all the combat troops left. Wait, what???
BAGHDAD – Days after the U.S. officially ended combat operations and touted Iraq's ability to defend itself, American troops found themselves battling heavily armed militants assaulting an Iraqi military headquarters in the center of Baghdad on Sunday. The fighting killed 12 people and wounded dozens.
It was the first exchange of fire involving U.S. troops in Baghdad since the Aug. 31 deadline for formally ending the combat mission, and it showed that American troops remaining in the country are still being drawn into the fighting.

The clothes that fatass wears are clothes that are designed for someone much younger and smaller/petite. And they are certainly not clothes designed for someone trying to look sophisticated or glamorous. They might be 'fun' or 'flirty', but that is not the image that a First Lady should be trying to emulate.
Moochelle needs to grow the hell up. She's not a 20 something anymore.

First Ladies out of bounds?
The press was nice and deferential to Jackie Kennedy. She tried to class up the roguish Kennedy behavior.
Lady Byrd Johnson was also a very dignified lady, who was all about beautifying America. The press was reasonably nice to her, but people made fun of her accent (she was a Texan). Barry Goldwater hated LBJ but thought Lady Byrd was a great lady.
Pat Nixon was modestly ridiculed and mocked, at times rather nastily by the press. Even when she died, they were sorta mocking at the funeral coverage. She was from a modest background, and tough as nails, but it musta hurt deep down.
Betty Ford was rather well liked by the press, overall.
Rosalyn Carter was a soft spoken Southern Lady, and though occasionally mocked by the elites for her accent, they pretty much left her alone.
Nancy Reagan: Boy was the Press mean to her. She injected herself into certain situations, and was very defensive about "Ronnie", but they went after her as a way to get at Ronald Reagan.
Barbara Bush: Actually a very funny and witty woman, the press mocked her about her age, looks, etc. She was pretty tough about it, and it didn't get to her like the needling got to Nancy (Nancy and Bar didn't exactly like each other, either).
Hillary! Clinton: What to say about Hillary! ? Serial liar, power mad "co - President", over-rated political hack? I personally can't say enough bad things about her, but that's just me.
Laura Bush was in many ways similar to Rosalyn Carter, but the press whispered a lot of mean things about her. Just because they are mean.
Michelle Obama: Most mis-represented and over-rated First Lady in modern history. I wish somebody with some sense would dress here. Her big ego shows up every time she goes out alone in public. I can't wait for her to go out and reveal the power of this fully operational First Lady. I think her campaigining is going to be a taunt to get white people to criticize her, so they can whip out the racial grievance flag one more time.

2 -- Force Vote on Extension of unemployment in last few weeks -- Just to show how heartless the GOP are in this boondoggle.
3 -- Renew the Bush Tax Cuts -- minus tax cuts for the wealthy... Just to show how the GOP care more about the rich than balancing the budget.

National Enquirer (a publication actually making money) knows what its readers like: scandal around Michelle Obama, i.e fights over money, her spending, her fat-assery, Barack's gay boyfriends. In other words, Oprah!
Michelle Obama is one gaffe away from sinking the Obama machine, prancing around waving the fantastic wealth and power around that the Black aristocracy in Chicago likes to do (all from the White taxpayer by the way).
Barack Obama does not care. Nor does he care about the elections. He plans MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE fraud, on a scale we cannot comprehend, and will charge as "racists" anyone who protests and sic Holder on them for "hate crimes" with the cheerleading of the media. Some type of Amnesty and instant citizenship is of course coming.
But at his core, Obama is like Jim Jones. He's always been headed towards that Jonestown moment, of "Revolutionary Suicide" ... probably by an attempted coup. He can find, probably, Holder and a few of the JCS to sign off on it as well as 5 of the Supremes. But all he will do is ignite, a massive civil war (which he'll ultimately lose) over his likely ultimate plans to suspend elections and rule by decree like his pals Chavez and Castro, if he can't Chicago fraud his way to victory. This is why he's not worried.
Obama is NOT an American. Not the way people who grew up here, instead of Indonesia, and Hawaii, and the Ivy League followed by Chicago Machine Racial politics are. Obama HAS NO LIMITS. His hero is Castro. For Obama, the Constitution is toilet paper to be flushed in the interest of Black rule over a "guilty" White people who need punishing (and he's just the man to do it).

It astonishes me that anyone is deluded enough to think that Michelle Obama can actually change the course of the election. Her Spanish adventure had even the hard-core leftards in my office grumbling into their coffee.
But then, consider: who else do they have? The Lightbearer himself is about as popular as genital herpes. Sheriff Joe keeps tripping over his own tongue. Harry Reid is running for his life. And Nancy "Madame Botox" Pelosi is even more deeply unpopular than Obama. By default, Michelle's the only one left.
So, this is not delusion. This is desperation. Which is why I love it.
