WHOA: 60% Favor Repeal of ObamaCare
— Gabriel Malor

Holy Buckets, what happened?! I was just writing about the polls from last week that showed the number of folks who support repealing Obama's economy-killing healthcare reform law is a shrinking majority, down to 52%.

Maybe I wrote too soon?

Sixty percent (60%) of voters nationwide favor repeal of the recently passed health care law, including 49% who Strongly Favor repeal.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 36% oppose repeal. That figure includes 24% who are Strongly Opposed.

Forty-three percent (43%) believe repeal would be good for the nationÂ’s economy. Twenty-seven percent (27%) believe repeal would be bad for the economy, while 20% say it would have no impact.

What changed? This is outside the margin of error, so it's not likely to be just statistical randomness. Voters are further down on ObamaCare on July 1 (the date of this survey) than they were a week earlier.

That's the good news. The bad news is that voters don't actually believe in the dream yet:

Despite the ongoing support for repeal, just 41% believe the law is even somewhat likely to be repealed. Forty-five percent (45%) say repeal is unlikely. In April, however, 51% considered repeal unlikely.

Alright, so there's been progress, but not enough. I bet part of the problem is a lack of confidence in Republicans in Congress. Maybe we can change that in November...

5 Actually, one out of every 20 polls is a dud; i.e., outside the margin of error.

That is just based on statistical theory, and doesn't take into account errors in sampling by the pollster.

Any republican that doesn't support repeal should be shot in the head. Especially after November.

Can't get repeal? Defund it. Refuse to pass a budget. Set yourself on fire on the floor of Congress. Set a bureaucrat on fire. Whatever.

Whatever it takes to roll this fucker back, these guys better do it and fast. I'd like to work again sometime in my life.

I think that's the more important stat.  That whole pesky "consent of the governed" thing seems to have been thrown to the wayside and then run over a few dozen times.  The governed noticed that.  The governed aren't too pleased.

21 What the second part of the poll reflects is realism. 60% would like to get rid of it but repeal will take getting both houses of Congress by a majority large enough to override a veto.

That is physically impossible in the Senate unless a lot of Dems die off before this fall.

23 oblig, there are some good Repubs in both houses, so if enough new non-establishment types get in, there may be a majority of the majority (which means they get to pick the Speaker) for doing the people's will.  Don't discount the effect a landslide will have on the psyches of the RINOs when they look around and find themselves outnumbered.

If we cannot count on GOP courage, we can always take a shot at the typical politician's cowardice.

1. A SMALL WELL-DEFINED LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 50 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF MORGAN CITY LOUISIANA IS MOVING ONSHORE
TERREBONNE PARISH NEAR CAILLOU BAY. DOPPLER RADAR AND SATELLITE
DATA INDICATE THAT SUSTAINED WINDS NEAR TROPICAL-STORM-FORCE COULD
OCCUR ACROSS TERREBONNE PARISH...ESPECIALLY IN TERREBONNE
BAY...LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING AS THE SYSTEM MOVES
ONSHORE. THERE IS A HIGH CHANCE...60 PERCENT...OF THIS SYSTEM
BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE BEFORE IT MOVES ONSHORE. THIS SYSTEM
WILL MOVE SLOWLY NORTHWESTWARD AFTER LANDFALL AND PRODUCE LOCALLY
HEAVY RAINFALL OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTH-CENTRAL AND SOUTHEASTERN

NATIONAL WEATHER FORECAST OFFICE FOR ADDITIONAL UPDATES AND ANY
WATCHES OR WARNINGS.

2. A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHWESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA AND
THE SOUTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO IS PRODUCING WIDESPREAD CLOUDINESS
AND DISORGANIZED THUNDERSTORMS. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE FORECAST TO
BECOME MORE CONDUCIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT...AND A TROPICAL DEPRESSION
COULD FORM OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS THIS SYSTEM MOVES
NORTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH. THERE IS A MEDIUM CHANCE...30
PERCENT...OF THIS SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS. REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL
AND GUSTY WINDS ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE YUCATAN PENINSULA AND WESTERN
CUBA OVER THE NEXT DAY OR SO.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

48 You know what happened?  For the last couple of months, people have been focused on the Gulf oil spill and waiting for the Jug-Eared Wunderkind to work his magic on it.  During that time, ObamaCare seemed like it ought to take a back seat.

But now that the American people have seen what Obama can do to fix the oil spill, which is jack shit, they have concluded that he will be able to do the same for their health care.  Oh, and the stories about the unprecedented cost and impact of ObamaCare on their employers and how that will mean they lose their company health plan -- if they're lucky enough to keep their jobs at all.

So it's no surprise at all that the poll numbers have turned sharply in favor of repealing ObamaCare.

15 There's no chance for repeal with today's GOP- Bugler

Exactly right.

The Democrats passed it largely out of political opportunism, with little notion that it was "the right thing to do". That is their same attitude with regards to "amnesty" and controlling the border with Mexico. (no news here)

And most of the GOP knows what the right thing to do is, but they do not have the courage or leadership to do it. The perfect example is how Joe Barton was left to twist in the wind.

We are in for some dark years ahead. The fall election may make some difference ( I certainly hope), but the attitudes of MILLIONS (say it like Carl Cosmos would say it) of people have to be changed to really change the country. Obama is, after all, only a symptom of a deeper problem..

And that is the truly daunting dilemma of our times, and why the GOP appears  (appears? they are!) so feckless and gutless sometimes.

The firm will be renamed "Black Palace," and will feature a new menu of arugula, arugula fries, arugula shakes, organic arugula sliders on a bun of arugula, and unflavored tofu desserts sweetened with seaweed extract. Half-man Barry's directions to his immediate minions is like this: "Plug the hole when you can, I dunno shit about this stuff. Just make sure BP gets blamed until the hole is plugged, and I look like a tireless fighter. When the hole is plugged, make sure I get the credit. Nice article about Obammay linked by drudge: Barack Obama, the Great Job Killer.

Obama is as hopeless, helpless, clueless and bankrupt of good ideas as the manager of the Chicago Cubs in late September. This "community organizer" knows as much about private-sector jobs as Pamela Anderson knows about nuclear physics.

It's time to call Obama what he is: The Great Jobs Killer. With his massive spending and tax hikes -- rewarding big government and big unions, while punishing taxpayers and business owners -- Obama has killed jobs, he has killed motivation to create new jobs, he has killed the motivation to invest in new businesses, or expand old ones. With all this killing, Obama should be given the top spot on the FBI's Most Wanted List.

Meanwhile, he has kept the union workers of GM and Chrysler employed (with taxpayer money). He has made sure that most government employee union members got their annual raises for sleeping on the job (with taxpayer money). He made sure that his voters got handouts mislabeled as "tax cuts" even though they never paid taxes (with taxpayer money). And he made sure that major campaign contributors collected billions off government stimulus (with taxpayer money).

Though I think the best option, if there were rational people running the operation, is to drill a bunch of wells in parallel to the deposit and empty it out as quickly as possible.

Strange how silent the hollywood types are in their criticism of Obama's handling of the oil leak.

Even stranger is how silent they've generally been about Barry in general. I figured I wouldn't be able to turn on a television set for four years without seeing a celebrity braying about Obama. Maybe they're out their doing it somewhere I don't frequent, but I'm just not seeing the celebrity love for this turd in the punchbowl.

161 I am most happy to thank you for your kind reply.

If you will forward to me a sum of only $20,000, I can assure you that my x wife, Rosie's estate, which is in control of all the oil in the Northeastern providence of dumb fuck, Sudan, will be sending you immediately $20 million dollars from the goat reserve fund, which is in trust for lacking the funds to pay the taxes.

I am axing that you reply to me personally, since others not authorized to make this agreement might try to take advantage of you.

Respectfully, Charles, the Goat Widower.

162 179 There's been a few of the usual suspects that are still madly in love with Obama and vocal about it, but most of Hollywood seems to have gone strangely silent and only talk about their movies or projects.

163 Could someone please tell me why gas prices are dropping? We have one big ass oil spill in the gulf. Summer is getting into full swing. We are just finishing up a major holiday weekend and here in NC gas prices are dropping like a rock. In the past any middle east country says "We are cutting oil production by 10 barrels" and prices sky rocket .  Believe me, I'm not complaining but it seems odd.

164 I am wanting to make sure you do not think one of my Nigerian cousins sent this email to you.

Please to check out this website and you will see that Rosie and I are not involved in these scams.  I am poor widow man who needs a new goat.

165 Charles Tombe, send me 40k first.  Then I'll send you 20k.

166 During the summer of 2008 gas prices were climbing fast and the Dems were making political hay of the link between Big Oil and the GOP. Then the GOP countered with Drill Baby Drill to raise the supply to lower the price, which caught on big time with the public, and the prices dropped.

I'd kill my own mother if it meant Barry's poll numbers would go up.

I'd fuck her eyeless skull if it meant a second term.

Yes this is right, I will send you $20 million US, but you must first send me the goat tax.  I can not bury Rosie without the $20,000, and so will not be able to get to her estate.

You see, if we hadn't cooked her this would not be a problem, but now her son is contesting the will.

169 While repeal maybe structurally impossible - numbers like that will allow a 'Pub house to not appropriate funds for specific Obamacare functions -- and follow up with Anti-Deficiency Act hearings to ensure the bureaucrats aren't working off reservation.

I think another tactic should be to use the new majority to begin a wide, sweeping series of investigations of the Dems.  They're all criminals, so finding evidence of illegality should be easy.  Begin a process of driving them from the legislature one at a time.  Once enough of them are gone, impeachment of Obastard should commence, followed by Biden.  Michelle Malkin could probably provide all the help they need to carry it off quite successfully.

Oh, but that wouldn't nice.  We wouldn't be reaching across the aisle, like so many liberals do.  The only way conservatives will stay in power is by proving that we're better people than they are.

What new majority? Forgive me for returning to the original topic, but I don't think the Republicans have the guts to run on repeal, much less do it if they are elected.

Tillman's family lost a source of income, and a fairly large one,   when he was killed.

I believe their entire motivation is money.  I know that sounds harsh,  but I think it's true.

174 NOTHING is impossible. We just need the political will and the votes to carry it out. BTW I don't believe Rasmussen was included in the poll results from last week. So, that's where you're discrepancy might be.

175 What happened was that people have noticed that their lifelong doctors are retiring left and right due to ObamaCare.

Not to worry - the democrats are going to pour billions of dollars into pro-PelosiCare advertising.

178 If you believe Obamacare will be repealed I have a bridge to sell you buddy, yes we will see tea party candidates calling for it after the Dimmi's are slaughtered in November but the core GOP corporatist's will not go along remember medicare part D? Remember Social security reform? Yeah ain't gonna happen.
