— Ace Obama and Pelosi and Reid keep telling us that "every economist" says the stimulus worked. I guess this guy isn't an economist, then, despite being a professor of economics as the U of C, Irvine.
"Where does the money come from?" he keeps asking. Obama & Co. don't seem to find this an interesting question.
Thanks to rdbrewer.

They can distort the data and lie, but the economy is tangible and people closely interact with the economy on a daily basis.
The Democrats can talk the economy down, to some extent. But there is no way to 'talk up' an ailing economy. The shit just don't fly.

One wonders, what are the democrats doing? Options:
1. The democrats are so economically clueless, they actually believe their way actually works (Keynesian/Krugman/Tax and Spend-o-rama)
2. The democrats know they are economically devious and wrong, but are doing it on purpose to bring down a once great nation and make it ripe for full-on socialist/communist/quasi-fascism with a mega-centralized government THEY control.
3. Are so blinded with their emotional arguments, that economics is foreign to them, so they have nothing to turn to but their old failed left-wing ideology.
4. Assholes. We are cornhuckered.

Good luck. By then, there will only be 48 states, The Republic of Texas, and Alaskastan.
The Chinese would probably want something a little closer, like maybe Hawaii? How many Macadamia nuts can you get in exchange for $Billions of debt?

I travel to China occasionally and when I do i usually start reading up. There is a pretty strong sentiment in China that wherever their people go, they are still Chinese, and in fact are expected to take over the land eventually [they will have to fight the Mexicans for CA though] They figure the Eastern half of Russia is theirs, parts of Africa, and long term even West Canada and CA.
This is no joke -- the military plans on it. [In fact, I have met dozens of Chinese techies going back to the 80's that do side work for Chinese companies or gov. (probably stealing technology,...)]
But the joke is on them,.. we turned all their comrades into fucking pinkos while over in the mother land they still are hard and obedient. If they ever take CA it will bankrupt China too.

Fox News Poll: 79% Say U.S. Economy Could Collapse
The latest Fox News poll finds that 79 percent of voters think itÂ’s possible the economy could collapse, including large majorities of Democrats (72 percent), Republicans (84 percent) and independents (80 percent).
Most American voters believe itÂ’s possible the nationÂ’s economy could collapse, and majorities donÂ’t think elected officials in Washington have ideas for fixing it.
Moreover, 78 percent of voters believe the federal government is "larger and more costly" than it has ever been before, and by nearly three-to-one more voters think the national debt (65 percent) is a greater potential threat to the countryÂ’s future than terrorism (23 percent).

Posted by: grognard at March 23, 2010 11:03 AM (v0kvW)
Instead, they get it by engaging in politically desirable activity.
Wealth is the result of economic coordination among people. Wealth is increased when the degree of coordination increases. People get richer when they are better able to coordinate their economic activity (production and consumption) with the economic activity of everyone else on the planet.
This can ONLY be achieved by a more appropriate division of labor, which is very hard to do when you are attempting to coordinate the daily lives of billions of people, most of whom don't even live here in the U.S.
The only way to better coordinate economic activity is through prices. Prices are signals to production and consumption. They tell everyone what kind of work is economically valuable, and what kind of work is an economic loser.
Injecting money into an economy (regardless of whether it's borrowed money, or stolen money, or found money, or imaginary money) is not a form of economic productivity. It can never tell people which activities are more, or less, economically desirable.
In fact, injecting this Monopoly money merely confuses people. It deceives them. It distorts the information in the price signals. It increases the noise level. As a result, people become even less economically coordinated with each other. Productivity decreases. Errors in investment and consumption increase. Things get worse.
Does Obama know this? I presume he does, and that he wants things to get worse.

For lunch, I sliced a Twinkie lengthwise and nestled one of those "ham & cheese" hotdogs into the soft embrace of the cream. I then secured the thing shut with a couple strips of bacon and cooked it over an open campfire.
Dust it with powdered sugar and dip it in raspberry jelly. I'm calling it the Monte Nabisco.

Here's news. The economy is going to collapse. Even without TARP, Porkulus and Free Healthcare for Everyone Wheeeee!, the federal budget was headed for the cliff. Last month Social Security started demanding that the federal government repay its IOUs. This means two things: (1) the federal government will no longer be able to support its deficit spending by scooping big gobs of cash out of the Social Security "trust fund" *cough*, and (2) now the federal government will have to start funding the monstrous Social Security entitlement out of its own revenues. In other words, Social Security just flipped from gigantic cash cow to a small but growing leech on the federal budget. Worse, it is demographically inevitable that the small leech will become huge in short order, eventually growing larger than its host.
Ans this is before Comrade Zero worked his magic on the budget by spending more money in a shorter time than any ruler in history.
Are the Chinese going to lend us money to cover Social Security and ObamaCare? Nope. They see where this is headed and they've already been sounding the alarm. Are Americans going to lend the money? Not likely, since few will have any income in the Obama Economy.
My advice: invest in companies that make printing presses and wheelbarrows. In the New Weimar Republic, these will be quite valuable.
