— Gabriel Malor What the hell is going on in this woman's head?
Coakley bristles at the suggestion that, with so little time left, in an election with such high stakes, she is being too passive.“As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?’’ she fires back, in an apparent reference to a Brown online video of him doing just that.
Unreal. Too busy to do meet-and-greets, she's spending her time kissing up to Democratic leaders and union bosses.

Coakley has lost her bearings. She is lashing out because she realizes there is a 50-50 chance she chokes away what was thought to be a sure fire win.
Shes now badmouthing meeting and greeting voters at one the most important landmarks where voters congregate? SMART!
And dems are the intellectual party?

This example + Obama with the plumber guy + John Stewart getting wtfpwnt by Bush's legal guy on interrogations the other night. Liberals are so mentally under-equipped that only hilarity can ensue.
Here's a helpful hint (WARNING: huge net of stereotyping about to be tossed): Most liberals majored in communications, or psychology, or history, or English. Not much critical thinking going on in those fields: think what your prof wants you to think, get a degree! No matter what school you went to: all of us engineers, chemists, and physicists laughed at you (and still mock you, constantly) since you pretty much just bought your degrees. Your opinion means... um... nothing. You're still stupid.

Things don't care how eloquent you are, but they do follow the rules and will punish you if you forget that. Words let you believe everything can be changed just by changing the words, and rules are just words so they can be changed, and you can make things the way you want just by saying so.

Martha did nothing when she was Middlesex County DA. I don't think anything else has to be said about this woman if you read that one. It is so bad it could turn a lib or dem to a new candidate!
Vote for Scott Brown if you live in MA! Everyone else, contribute anything you can $5 will help him. We need new blood in the senate, not the same old like Byrd who should be retired. He's too old and really can't do much on his own.

"I hate to burst your bubble, but you'd be unpleasantly surprised to know how many medical students nowadays are hard-core libs."
I wouldn't be surprised. Beck had a show a few months ago where he had a bunch of doctors and about 15 or so med students. The doctors were uniformly opposed to the government meddling in healthcare while the students all worshipped it.
It was like the difference between night and day. The doctors quoted horror stories from real life examples of government meddling and the students all spouted the common commie D line straight out of the campaign lines.
This just shows what kind of brainwashing the universities are giving the students nowadays. What was funny was some of the snide comments made by the older doctors to the students. Basically they amounted to "you do not know your ass from a whole in the ground and once you get some real expericience you will change your mind".

What gets me is that medical school tuition is above $50,000 per year at some schools and going up every year. That means that some MDs graduate already $200,000 (or more) in debt, with four or more years of low-paying internships and residencies ahead of them. How they expect to pay off their student loans before they retire beats me.

I would say from looking at the students in question and from the fact that they were from NYC that most of them were having their way paid for through the school.
The only people who pay full tuition anymore are white males from a family above the poverty line.

I'll tell you, Gabby, you're capable of writing some relevant articles for this blog.
So I'm puzzled by your compulsion to address distasteful homosexual issues.
You remind me of Andrew Sullivan, a resonably intelligent man who is somewhat well informed on the issues, but who is so neurotic that he can't refrain from letting everybody know that he is gay, another topic altogether that is irrelevant to the political issues that he raises.
He can't help himself, and apparently you can't help yourself either.
I don't see anyone here trying to impose a heterosexual agenda on posters here. But you sure try impose a gay agenda on bloggers here. That's screwy, guy. It's not normal. It's bizarre. See a psychiatrist, Gabby.

Wow, they have this over at NRO where the unions have negotiated an exemption for the “Cadillac” tax in the healthcare bill and they have a scheme to pay for it:
One House Democrat is already saying a "consensus" could be built around such a scheme by further increasing the Medicare payroll tax and applying it to capital gains to make up for lost revenue.
They want a new precedent now to apply Medicare taxes to capitol gains. Next will come SS taxes. Then they will apply it to dividends and interest. God we have to get these damn Commuinsts out of Washington before it is too late.
The idea that unions will be taxed at a different rate than the rest of the country is a violation of the Constitution but I guess we could never get standing. Just because politicians routinely violate the document and cheat us right and left isnÂ’t grounds to sue anymore unless you are a protected minority or a liberal.

Morons,
Like you and millions of tea party activists around America, I cannot sit by idly and watch our nation succumb to socialism. In November, we witnessed 48% of voters going to the polls who demonstrated that economic recovery and job growth are more important than petty partisan politics or the platitudes stemming from so-called leaders in Washington.
Even after Congress attempted to ruin our Christmas, I still believe America is a great country, but there are things going on in Washington I don't like - things I want changed. We have an obligation to ensure our future generations will not be burdened by the desires of some who would rather shirk their responsibilities than work together to solve the hard problems.
I don't come from wealth or privilege, in fact, I am a Navy brat. My parents instilled in me the lessons of hard work, integrity and that the American Dream can be a reality for those people who are willing to pick themselves up by their bootstraps, rather than simply seeking a handout for a lack of trying.
The success of our state, our nation, and our community depends upon the desire to place service above self as we learned through the examples of our Founding Fathers. As a citizen and a business owner, I will not stand for the status quo.
In fact, as Ronald Reagan suggested, it will not be career politicians who lift all boats, but the rising tides created by entrepreneurs and those who run businesses who will improve the economic outlook by continuously pushing forward on their version of the American Dream. It will be tax credits and less regulations that spur employment, not White House Job Summits.
I seek a senator to provide real solutions to our biggest challenges-healthcare reform, the economy, states' rights, foreign policy, national security as well as the outrageous spending and deficits created by our federal government.
I share your beliefs in a strong America that enforces states' rights, secures its borders, upholds the 2nd Amendment and adheres to a Constitutional and Balanced Budget. More important, government must meet its obligations to protect the general welfare, though it does NOT need to increase its Size, Cost, Reach and Power and I will fight along with you Morons to roll back those bills that have done so.
I am just a regular guy with real concerns like most of you:
How do I pay my bills?
How can I afford my health insurance?
Will I have enough money to retire?
Will we remain safe from terrorists?
When will the economy pick back up again?
I am grateful for AoSHQ to be sharing my heart and ideas with you. As a business owner and father I understand the need to keep one's word and fulfill one's obligations. I will not stand by idly while lobbyists and special interests buy congressional votes and flush America down the drain. There is too much at stake and too little common sense in Washington.
This is truly the time for the regular guy, a Mr. Smith type, to get to Washington and remind these elites that there are expectations and obligations to voters, not special interests, for those serving in representative government. They need to be reminded that they work for us. Ted's seat belongs to us.
Together, we can put our nation back on course towards American Exceptionalism, just like Ronald Reagan inspired us in the 1980s. That's why I am voting for Scott Brown next Tuesday.
Yours in freedom,
SiM

The worst of it is that AGAIN it is the official US Judicial Branch corruption in authority at play. Yesterday's highlighted photo of Coakley showed her eyes on her thug as the shove went down. A District Attorney witnesses the mugging of a reporter and claims ignorance (it will be the 5th before long). Her silence, stupidly not acknowledging the reporter's questions, proved her own arrogant ignorance. Coakley is as obviously corrupt as Holder is.
"Antipathy." Obama's camp is in DOWNFALL precisely because they are blind, deaf and mute to the rigors of our Constitution and the Voice of the Citizens whose independent eyes are opened. Do recall Obama's initiation motto: ONE VOICE -- his. That "one voice" endorses VIOLENCE against our Bill of Rights that inconvenience their FRAUD destroying our nation.

Get ready for a run on sentence.
Somewhere along the line in residency after you've been up for 30 hours for the umteenth time, and you're taking care of the same nasty, ungrateful, repeat offenders, who have been given chance after chance after chance and had all social services available to them still for free (while your own beater car is outside getting broken into for the 2nd time) you start to get a clue.
Once you get into practice and you have to start paying off loans, and now you have to employ a billing service in order to try and even get paid. Hours are not much, better because in residency you're the first out the door after call, but in practice you often have to work a full day after call. You're still taking care of enough of these repeat offenders that reality finally years later idealism is tempered by reality.

It's pretty simple, really. Because he is a conservative. His "pro-choice" position is that of many mainstream conservatives. He wants parental notification, no federal subsidies, etc. What part of that confuses you?
As for the health bill that "Romney signed". Do you have any idea how legislation works? Romney had exactly ZERO Constitutional options. I suppose he could've resigned, but how the hell would that've helped anything?

If it hasn't been said already:
Either she's a tone deaf elitist who knows the election is already in the bag for her
or
The Dems want to throw this election

I recall saying it up thread but you carried it further with "The Dems want to throw this election" which seems more likely. But why and for what purpose?

o/t Perry has the right idea...ween the state of the fed teete.
Perry: Texas won't seek federal education funding Published: 1/14/10, 8:45 AM EDTBy JUAN A. LOZANO
HOUSTON (AP) - Texas won't compete for up to $700 million in federal stimulus money for education because the program "smacks of a federal takeover of our public schools," Republican Gov. Rick Perry said Wednesday.
The funding is from the U.S. Department of Education's "Race to the Top" program, a $5 billion competitive fund that will award grants to states to improve education quality and results. The program, created in the economic stimulus law, is part of Democratic President Barack Obama's efforts to overhaul the nation's schools.
Perry has been critical of the federal stimulus program and the federal bailout of the nation's financial institutions. He previously turned down $555 million in federal stimulus money for the state's unemployment fund because it would have required Texas to expand its unemployment benefits.
However, the state did accept billions of dollars of federal stimulus money to help balance its two-year budget in 2009.

I still don't see how Brown rates being called a conservative.
I don't recdall anyone calling him a conservative. But he is not as hardcore a communist as the other.

It's absolutely sickening that this race is as close as it is and, in spite of all logic and decency to the contrary - this after all being Massachusett(e)s, that this unaccomplished hack who is the personification of everything that sucks about the MA hack-o-rama might just ride her reproductive plumbing and party affiliation into the US Senate.

Finally, a position of hers with which I can agree.
Now, quick, someone give her a Yankees hat to wear.

#25, in Iraq we always used to pray for dumb opponents. Sometimes we'd even get them.
#49, I'm a conservative (probably a lunatic right wing one by some standards) and I was a history major. Then again Ole Miss was a pretty red-state school when I was there, and my main history prof was a retired one-star who'd taught at the War College. We definitely had our lefties around the department, but I wasn't one.
I love this. Getting a R to win in Mass is like pissing on Teddy's grave.

This just shows what kind of brainwashing the universities are giving the students nowadays. What was funny was some of the snide comments made by the older doctors to the students. Basically they amounted to "you do not know your ass from a whole in the ground and once you get some real expericience you will change your mind".
This reminds me of an old Gallagher bit I heard one time: "I hate college students. They think they're so smart; they don't know shit. Think about it, they can't be too bright, they're still in school."

I think it definitely depends on where you went to school. I went to an SEC school as well and don't remember having a lot of nutjob leftist professors, although there was one PoliSci prof who was definitely a liberal but also a nice man who actually encouraged debate and discussion. As for the rest, if they were nutty lefties I never heard about it.
There were left-wing kook students but they were far outnumbered by normal people. In fact, I remember the night that the bombing started in Desert Storm, there were a few dozen hippie protestors who quit after several hundred to maybe a thousand normal students showed up to counter protest the hippies. Awesome.

Oh, my God, there were over 450 comments on this a few minutes ago with the overwhelming majority of them ridiculing this endorsement.
I can't believe that the Globe deleted them.
Wow, Wow, now there are only 7 comments. I can't believe that they are silencing the voice of their own readers. I mean they don't want the voice of their own readers to be heard, wow.
There are over 9 pages worth now just blasting the Globe and Coakley.

tangonine
I graduated in psychology. Needed a degree for OCS and didn't think long-range planning was a priority. Infantry in 69.
My father graduated in economics in 43--great time to graduate from anything--in time for Infantry OCS.
My brother graduated in political science, and was cadet commandant of the AFROTC detachment.
Your brush is a bit broad.
Still, point taken. Not running into the world's sharp edges and corners, even in the structured environment of the lab, allows for things like wishful thinking.

@183 - I went to UT as well. I was a science major, so I had some humanities classes but not as many as most take. I don't really remember too many nutjobs, though the ones I can best recall as being lefty were in history and religious studies, but again, I don't remember a whole lot of prosetlyzing. I didn't hear too much drivel in my science courses but this was before carbon dioxide became the silent assassin.

I'm rooting for Brown, but I don't like his chances I'm afraid. This is MA we're talking about; the Dem machine will buy and steal enough votes to overcome a few percentage points in the polls.
Unless he wins by a margin of 2% or greater with legitimate voters, he loses.

"I mean, how dumb do you have to be to make a statement like that re: Fenway?"
meep, I don't think she's trying to lose on purpose. But getting things all your own way for too long tends to make individuals and organizations lazy and stupid.
I remember how, in the 1960s, I worked as a swimming pool attendant at a country club. The kids there were uniformly stupid: not because they lacked brainpower, but because their parents' money shielded them from the consequences of their stupid actions, so they had no incentive to do the work necessary to get smarter.
And so it is with the Mass Democratic machine: as long the sheeple of Massachusetts (and yes, Martha, that's how it's spelled) keep pulling the lever for them, they have no incentive to change. I saw that most clearly here in Cook County in 2006, when the voters, given the choice between a machine candidate who was essentially brain-dead due to a massive stroke, and an intelligent, accomplished reformer, voted overwhelming for the machine candidate. Why should the machine change when it can run a man who literally has no brain, and win?
The lesson is that as long as voters are stupid, candidates will be stupid.

I went to a local urban college for undergrad, and then Arizona State for grad school. I don't think I had one actual conservative instructor the whole time, so I did the "tell them what they want to hear" routine and managed to get out with my sanity intact.
What's funny is that in grad school, most of the TAs I worked with were WAY more left-wing than the professors; one woman I entered the program with transferred to Wisconsin after a year because the department wasn't left-wing grievance-oriented enough for her (an observation that I found to be rather stunning), and another was a card-carrying communist. I at least gave that guy credit for being honest about his politics--most of the others were in denial and supported the Green Party or Democratic Socialists.
