— Purple Avenger Of course, of course. That's the ticket - I.N.T.E.G.R.I.T.Y.
..Somewhat ironically, in stepping down Dodd is actually exhibiting a ton of integrity—doing the right thing for his country, his party, and the progressive political movement...Similar "integrity" was displayed by the Japanese when they surrendered on the deck of the Missouri, and when Doenitz was handed the mantle of the 1,000 year Reich and gave it all up to go fishing or something.
History is replete with such displays of "integrity". Nixon resigning. LBJ not running again. The King agreeing to the Magna Carta. BetaMax accepting gracious defeat at the hands of VHS. Philby coming out of the closet and going with his "true feelings".
Apparently wretched gut wrenching soul devouring defeat always has the silver lining of integrity associated with it. If you want to keep your integrity and reputation intact - FAIL.

There's an implicit confession in that spin. They are admitting he has baggage. Said baggage are his ethical and legal transgressions. They admit they are better off without him, yet they would have supported him anyway had he decided to run.

Speakin'of Rahm:
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- There's word this morning that President Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, already is looking at life beyond the White House and that he might be eyeing the 5th floor at Chicago's City Hall.
It was no secret that then-Chicago Congressman Rahm Emanuel was less than thrilled when the newly-elected president asked him to give up his seat in the House to become the White House chief of staff a year ago.
Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn tells Newsradio 780 she's heard from people close to Emanuel that he's told them he's almost ready to leave.
"He's said, 'The job of chief of staff is an 18-month job, it's a burn-out job.' He's made it quite clear that he's not happy and that he's totally stressed all the time and that he's thinking of running for mayor of Chicago," Quinn said.
Mayor Daley: "Yeah, right...from my cold dead hands. Bring it, Rahm."
I might have made that last bit up.

5 I think by integrity they really mean loyalty to the Dem party...
I think you are absolutely spot on. To paraphrase Willie Shakespeare "The quality of integrity is not strained, but falleth as a gentle rain from Heaven..."
Translated to moron-speak, that means integrity lies in the soul, and is not conditional, but absolute. It is either there in all times and places, or it is not integrity. Dodd has no integrity. He has loyalty to the Party, as one of its Capos, and has decided he will take one for the team.

Oh Doddy boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summerÂ’s gone, and all the flowers are dying
‘Tis you, ’tis you must go and I must bide.
But never come ye back when summerÂ’s in the meadow
Or when the valleyÂ’s hushed and white with AGW snow
‘Tis I’ll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Doddy boy, oh Doddy boy, I despise you so.
And if you come, the flowers will all be dying
And I hope I am dead, as dead I well may be
YouÂ’ll come and find the place where I am lying
And I hope you trip and break your damn knee.
And I shall hear, your moans of pain above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If youÂ’ll not fail to get out of the Senate
IÂ’ll simply sleep in peace knowing you are not destroying my country.

The integrity of a member of the US congress is a pretty F'ing valuable thing. I'm suprised he was willing to show it for free.

All these Dems not seeking re-election might not be such a great thing, folks.
Welcome to another episode of "Things Michael Steele Might/Will Say/Is Saying".

Being traitors didn't help either. The Soviets were smart enough to not trust traitors too much. Anyone who flips once could flip again. I think Philby was given the nominal rank of KGB colonel as a reward, but I rather doubt he was given much in the way of authority, responsibility, or access to critical state secrets, and anything he stated was probably double and triple checked against other sources before trusting it.
Quite a few of those clowns who thought they'd be treated like kings got the shaft when they finally had to bolt. I wonder if anyone tracked down any of the ones who were still alive after the Soviet Union fell and interviewed them about their treatment after defecting?

Corruptocrat extraordinaire. Patronage. Sweet heart deals. Kick backs. Bribes.
Nope. Don't see "integrity" anywhere in that list.

A ton of integrity he never demonstrated before. The type of integrity that tells you to step off the tracks as a freight train is approaching.
That sort of integrity.

I'm DELIGHTED that these Dems won't be around after November. But in the meantime? They don't even have to pretend to give a shit what the voters think. The one possible restraint that we might have had over them, the threat of losing their jobs, is now gone.
Still feeling so warm and fuzzy about this?
The contest for Thankfully Dead Ted's seat is now more important than ever.

As usual, the Dems are smarter and more ruthless...a winning combination.
