— DrewM Sorry to be such a whore for this guy but this is how to sell fiscal conservatism and management. It's long but if you can stick with the first 3 minutes or so, it's well worth it. It's so full of win. So full.
Between this and the VDH piece, you may want to have your cholesterol checked...it's a lot of red meat for one day.
Behold what happens to a teacher who says Christie is talking down NJ schools.
When the big man takes off his coat...you're toast.
I'm not saying the guy is perfect but damn, he's simply demolishing the union talking points. I love how he can move between big picture political themes and policy details on a dime. He has total command of the subject and the conversation.
I think the most impressive thing about Christie is he is simply not cowered by the liberal talking points that send most politicians running to their mommies. You want to take a shot at him? Fine, he's going to punch back.
I would love to see someone literally say to him "but it's for the children". I think he'd kill that person on the spot.
57% baby. 57%.

Anyone who can bitch slap the NEA is great in my book.

HELP WANTED: Conservative Moron seeks help with feelings that the Democrat Congressional Candidate may be better than the incumbent Republican one.
In the Missouri 8th Congressional District, we currently have JoAnn Emerson(R) as our congress critter. Website here, more info at Govtrack.us here.
Her opponent, Tommy Sowers(D), is new blood, and "...spent 11 years in the U.S. Army as a Ranger, Green Beret and West Point professor." More info on his platform can be found here.
This guy sounds like the Dem version of LTC West, and if he's not full of lying Demoshit, he seems like a conservative wet dream. I just can't get my head and trust around the (D) after his name...
What do you Morons think??

I think the Democrats recruited Sowers and are pouring money into his campaign from all over the country because they're on a Holy Crusade to put a Democrat congressman in Rush Limbaugh's hometown district. No kidding; Howard Dean even gave the game away a few weeks ago.
There's no other reason; the Dems are just that unhinged and that fueled with insane hatred for Rush that they'll throw away millions of dollars at a longer-than-long-shot candidate in one of the worst possible districts in the worst possible year, just to try to stick a finger in his eye. It reminds me of Terry McAuliffe pouring all of the party's resources into defeating Jeb Bush in Florida in 2002 for the simple purposes of payback, and not even coming close while other Dems who could have used the support fell across the country.
As for Tommy Sowers himself, he's a lying piece of shit. He'll turn into a Pelosi clone the second he's elected. It's long past time we stopped being fooled by anything with a (D) after its name; they're all liars, they're all worthless, they're all dangerous enemies of America.

Barring some decisive intervening event, Obama and House Speaker John Boehner seem fated to be awkward partners in the public good. Beyond November, there will be a single political question: Can divided government work? The answer: Probably not.
On the Republican side following the election, ideology will be ascendant while congressional leadership will be weak. Since no Newt Gingrich-like figure has emerged to direct the revolution of 2010, Republican leaders will be carried along by its current. Boehner will have 40, 50 or 60 new Republican House members for whom any spending is too much, making even the normal work of passing annual appropriations bills difficult. The Senate is likely to have a seriously strengthened tea party wing, making Mitch McConnell's life miserable, as either majority or minority leader. Neither Boehner nor McConnell will be in a position to cut deals with Obama without provoking the ideologically excitable.

"We need new cell towers and improved broadband Internet. 21st century infrastructure will help create the conditions to restore jobs and economic opportunity to Southeastern Missouri."
Earmarks...plain & simple. Sorry, but I don't want my tax dollars paying for this.
"By changing the outdated laws on assessing banking risk, we can help restore credit to our small communities and help small businesses thrive."
Yeah, some of that is in the new Finace Reform crap. It's going to cost the consumer a buttload.
Unlike Jo Ann Emerson who is now supporting another bailout, this time of poorly-managed pension plans, I will not support another bailout.
What do you call "we can help restore credit to our small communities and help small businesses thrive"? Nobody will call it a bailout, but it will cost the taxpayer money.

He is the best kind of trial lawyer--he can annihilate someone on cross-examination like he's just a plain old country lawyer.
As for his social issues, the problem is that these issues have been used so often by Repubs as cover for massive spending, earmarks and entitlements that they don't seem serious anymore.

I think the key take away here is that we don't need Christy himself - we need his methodology. He's not doing anything terribly brilliant - he's simply showing some manly balls, and using his brain. We're shocked and amazed by this because so few f**king republicans ever do this. They're worms - gutless, shit eating cowards.
This man's example should show every damn conservatived out there that there is winning formula that even works in the blue states, and it is NOT NOT NOT FUCKING NOT what their party hack gladhandlers tell them. The formula is this:
1. Show you've got the courage of your convictions - that you know your way is right, and that's that.
2. Prove you're a FIGHTER, not a limp wristed compromiser. Attack - and when they respond, attack some more.
3. Know what the hell you're talking about - learn specific information about key subjects and have it in your memory. And be RIGHT, for pete's sake.
4. Show no fear, and speak plainly and truthfully.
America is still a center right country in all but the most irredeemable shit hole cities. Those places can't be won over at the ballot box, regardless. They'll just have to be contained and starved out of existence.

I wish I could have been there to flip off the teacher when she sat back down. Governor Christie is absolutely right about respecting the discourse, but that doesn't mean that those of us in the audience can't deride idiots who make lefty fools of themselves. My parents raised me to be a lady, but meh. I tend to apply it only towards people who haven't openly earned my disdain.

"151 My God! He's full of Balls!!"
Jesus I just visualized the 2001 scene with the Monolith replaced with model of Chris Christie and nearly lost it.
lol.

"150 $750 a yr for full family coverage? And they're bitching about it??"
And that's with a $2 prescription copay for a job that gives you 2 weeks off for Christmas, 1 week off for Easter and 3 months off for summer.
And teachers in NJ are wondering why people are so pissed off?

Not gonna. Do I like his 2nd Amndmnt stance? Nope, but I'm not dumb enough to not see his value.
God packed 500lbs of win into an only 300lb body. How does it all fit?!

That was an epic slapdown - he called her on acting childish, trotted out fact after fact, and then turned the "tone of voice" crap on its head.
I'm not into fat chicks, and definitely not into fat guys (or thin or any other kind, FWIW). But if I were to go over to the other team, I'd definitely be hot right now.

I didn't know who this guy was until my boyfriend itroduced me to "Daily Chris Christie Awesomeness" videos, and I have to say my faith in government has hope. Hope that he will move to CO and deal with our mess next. Who knows, maybe in a year after getting NJ somewhat better he will announce that he can only get it successful in a federal position. As president.

Hang in there. God bless you guys for sucking it up and sending him elsewhere.
What keeps me going (at age 62) is that at least he's not being shot at or running over IED's, unlike the guys in the military. So I count my blessings and press on.
I know it's hard having the kids your sole responsibility. I will keep you in my prayers.

I gotta ask.
Why does Christie need more time and seasoning, when Bill Clinton went from gov of AR right to being POTUS?
NJ in financial meltdown is easier than running AR from the shotgun seat of a state trooper cruiser?
