These people are not protesting for freedom and democracy - they want to swap the totalitarianism of Assad for the even more brutal totalitarianism of islam.

I'm sure the same videos could have been taken when the Shah of Iran was fighting to stay in power - the Shah lost, sharia law established, how did that work out for the people? Instead of a few hundred radicals killed a year tens of thousands of ordinary people were killed. But the islamic regime was anti-American, so that made it ok.

There are no good guys in the islamic world, only bad guys and even worse guys.

That's not entirely true- though it's how we should view things from a policy standpoint.  There are a small (sometimes it seems trivially small) number of (classical) Liberal Thinkers who are also Muslim.  It's just that most of them only stay "in the islamic world" just long enough to realize that being a Liberal Thinker in the Islamic World is not conducive to long life.

Then they find some other place to stand in "solidarity" with their imagined supporters.

Personally, I have no problem with cops using pepper spray to force people to obey their orders to clear a public area.  Beats the hell (pun intended) out of using their batons to break the Occupiers' arms to get them to unlink.  Or busting their bones with fire hoses, or setting dogs on them.  It's sort of why cops have pepper spray as a non-lethal tool in their arsenal.

Remember they had just recently cast off an authoritarian state government. Provisions for the Navy, Navy, and the individual StateÂ’s organized militias are in the body of the Constitution. The 2^nd is there for the people to keep and bear arms for the security of their freedom. There are also provisions in the body presuming the legality of private ownership of ships of war too.
