Toshiba's kinda my go-to brand now. Had too many problems with HP laptops. I love Thinkpads, but they are too expensive for what you get unless you find a great deal.

I've been very happy with all my Dells. I'm on my fifth now (I have two presently). When I purchased the older laptop I demanded XP because they were trying to force Vista down my throat. So, every couple of weeks I called back and had the agent help me build my system (previously, I just did it online) and, at the end I would say, And, I'd like that with XP. No? Sorry. I won't buy it with Vista. Well, I must not have been the only person because after a few weeks they relented and, eventually, added it back as an option for online sales as well.
My newest laptop, also a Dell, was picked up at Walmart at about 10:00 pm on a Friday after I got a vicious bug and needed internet access immediately. I paid about 1/4 of what I've paid for any other system and it's pretty damned nice. The sound isn't the best as compared to my last jacked up laptop, but I can definitely live with it. So far as Win 7 goes, I haven't had any problems with it.
