Aaron Worthing's Chat With The Comely Coed
— Ace

In which The Comely Coed insists that sure, Weiner sent her that pic, but she didn't do anything to encourage that.

This is less of a "I believe you" than a "I'm not sure it matters at this point so, whatever."

She goes on to explain that most infamous of "Ethel's" tweets -- the one about honey-mustard -- was most likely a case of a friend, or boyfriend, typing up an embarrassing message on to her left-open Twitter.

Ethel did immediately say "Hacked... obviously." And reading this so-dirty-it's-ludicrous tweet, yes, I have to say in retrospect, this does not read like a girl being dirty. It reads like a guy being funny.

That over-the-top sexual thing? That's a guy thing. We do that 200 times a day here.

Plus, it was public.

It should also be noted that it wasn't like "Ethel" typically said such things on Twitter. Nope, that was out of character. That jumps out in the tweet history.

As an added bonus, it would explain a lot. The first part of that tweet praises someone I take to be her friend and/or boyfriend, the guy I am guessing actually wrote it. But the second part mentions "weiner" -- my thinking is this is razzing her about her crush, even as he sockpuppets her into praising himself.

So based on this, I have been on Team Pranked Tweet as regards this particular item since yesterday.

However, as regards Weiner's state of mind...? Weiner would not have known the backstory here, and might have said, "Hey, this girl's got potential."

By the Way: I realize many of you are going to say "That's not true."

I'm going to have to ask you not to do that. I know you disagree. I get that. Consider it judicially noted that there are many objections to this post.

But this is not just an argument, you know. There are issues here beyond who's right and who's wrong.

This'll Put The Kibbosh On Such Outrageous Slanders: As I wrote in a comment, and now have asked The Comely Coed:

The odd thing here is that if Weiner and The Comely Coed are being truthful, than what is admitted is worse than what is merely suspected: That the claim is that he sent, unsolicited and unwarned, a picture of his erection to a 21 year old college student who was, we are informed, merely talking about being harassed by PatriotUSA76.

Ironically, the claim is this: The Comely Coed was talking with Weiner about how PatriotUSA76 was accusing Weiner of talking dirty with underage girls, which then provokes him, it seems, to send an underage (or near-underage) girl a picture of his erection.

Was his intent... deep, black-humor irony?

I don't get the joke. "That's such an outrageous claim, I shall parodize it by... sending a 21 year old an unsolicited picture of my erection! And let this sarcastic missive stand as my response to such risible claims!"

Or, as a commenter puts it:

Why did the chicken cross the road?

A: Here's a picture of my penis.

I Asked... The Comely Coed two questions. In response to Worthington, she alleged:

He wasnÂ’t inappropriate with me, though. Our talks were about people like Wolfe. I was intrigued by them. I still am. IÂ’ve watched closely. IÂ’m considering writing a piece on it.

So, my first question was a variation of:

Am I to understand, per the interview with Aaron Worthington of Patterico.com, that you were only DMing with him about these scurrilous allegations made by the #bornfree crew that he was behaving inappropriately with underage girls, and, in response to this complaint of this absurd charge, he sent a picture of his erection to you, thereby confirming the charge?

Or was it some attempt at deepest irony?

OUT: Anthony Weiner is an out-of-control cybersexer

IN: Anthony Weiner is an out-of-control ironist

Her answer was:

Why would I tell you what my speculation is? You want to know his intent? Ask him.

A commenter, May Bee I think, points out she is more eager to offer an explanation for Ethel's tweets, one that helps Ethel. I actually believe that explanation, but do note the disparate treatment. I take from that she has no speculation that could help Weiner and so chooses to clam up. On this one.

Which leads to my next question. I asked a variation of:

Since you are now alleging, and agreeing with Weiner, that he sent an unsolicited, unwarned, uninvited picture of his erection to a 21 year old girl -- a nonconsensual sex act, like flashing -- which is prosecutable (see Alvin Greene's prosecution for the obscenity of showing a coed a dic pic on the Internet), will you now join me in calling for Anthony Weiner to resign?

She did something like what she did at Patterico's place -- she stomped off and didn't answer.

Can I just say, Id rather get 20 unsolicited "lewd" pics than the THOUSANDS of harassing tweets Ive received from the obsessed extremists!

BTW, I said this on Twitter too: Please don't harass her when she's actually answering questions with an interviewer. What do you hope to accomplish? To the extent we get anywhere it is from her answers. What is the point of 1000 people shouting at her?

Well, the point is she gets to do what she did here, which is disappear from the interview, using harassment as a reason.

And I actually was sort of getting somewhere.

Anger is not useful. Repetitions of the same allegations are not useful.

I was actually asking provocative questions and now she's gone.

Please don't do this. All the anger in the world isn't going to solve anything.

I hate to pull rank here but some people really do not know what the F*** they're doing and seem to think that just shouting and jumping up and down is somehow aiding the cause.

2 I agree with that completely, including Weiner probably reading that and thinking she's a good "prospect" if you know what I mean.

3 Hacked twice? No, hacked once. And by hacked she meant "my boyfriend just posted that." I know you don't want to buy it because you now have a Narrative, like the media, in your head. But you're not getting the fact that "Big Hunt" refers to someone we know to be her boyfriend or "boy who is a friend." Like: We know his name. It's him.

5 Yep. Again, the strongest evidence against the given explanation (of "Ethel") is just not wanting it to be that way.  Not quite so much with the CC.

So is "I'm going to have to ask you not to do that." with such menacing implications a specific quote from a movie (like a mob flick or Tarantino movie) or does it just feel like it should be?

8 The second part of the tweet - "I love bdh weiner" - most likely her boyfriend bdh referring to his own wiener but misspelling it, either as an error or as a tweak on Ethyl's crush. That would be consistent with the first part of the tweet.

32 Frankly, I don't care.

If she was hacked, Weiner ruined her defense by crying wolf, and that ruins her name (her real name is out there).

If she wasn't, she was troubled.  And either way, Weiner made it work with the private messages and his obvious pattern.

It's just sad that Weiner saw what he did.  IT's interesting that Cordova promises she has secret info that clears Ethel's name, but refuses to tell us what it is.  I believe she is trying to angle this story for her professional benefit, and probably also a paid story with TMZ or Gawker or wherever.  She wants to use this to her advantage, but is willing to leave Ethel without this proof Cordova has?  That's really sick.

Anyway, I didn't find Cordova to be trustworthy, but a good liar uses truth sometimes, and that very well could be what this is about.  I think Ace has extremely solid instincts with this case, and so I'm seeing his version of this as pretty plausible.

The one thing that makes Coed (sorry, I called her by her name earlier... is that off limits?) believable to me is that she's paranoid about what a victim she is.  She leaps to claiming she's being harassed or stalked when she actually isn't.  She likes to move right to the edge of danger and then pull back crying she's a victim.

And in her mind, she's being 100% honest despite how it comes across, as someone playing the victim card cynically.

I don't mean this in a racist manner, but I've met a few young intelligent black women in college who were both inquisitive and apprehensive about being challenged, often seeing an element of unfairness that wasn't really there.  I think Coed could easily be such a person.  So she's sure Dan Wolfe is harassing her, and brings that to Weiner's attention, even though she probably could have been a little more reasonable about this and seen his pattern of behavior (looked over all his followed ladies and they talk about him, for example).

And then Weiner sends her his penis shot, and she sees nothing implicating Weiner, but rather a paranoid prank?  That's rather hard to believe, but hey.

Posted by: Dustin at June 12, 2011 09:00 AM (Q3nWV)

40 The comely-coed is a lying liar from liarsburg.  What offends me is that we will never see the boobie pic she likely sent Weiner.  That makes me sad.

I think ace has it exactly right, the tweet just seemed too nonsensical to be valid, virtually no other tweet she made was explicit like that.  Since she tweets from her Blackberry, it's really easy for a friend of hers to grab her phone and tweet something that made it seem like it came from her, as a retarded joke.

Which makes me wonder, is that where Weiner got the idea for his weak as shit excuses?  He could have been reading her tweets and gotten the idea of saying it was a hack/prank from there.  The terminology is too eerily similar.

Regardless, I wish people would fucking stop saying hacked where no actual hacking occurred.  If someone grabs your phone and tweets from it using your account, you haven't been hacked, capice?

57 Presently, I am struck by the stark difference between Paul Ryan and Congressman Bulgy Crotch.  Go listen to the Ricochet podcast in the sidebar to get a whiff.  Anthony Wiener is (ok, maybe now WAS) in the vanguard of those who believe that public policy consists of a) intellectual dishonesty that would have made Stalin blush and b) no shame about "a".  It may not be on the same entertainment level as Weiner, but it is the same kind of thing one here's from Harry Reid about cowboy poetry and  losing wars or Charlie Rangel about privilege in contemporary America.

Which leads me to the following point:  The same people, will, on Monday, blame the rich, Wall Street, Republicans in general, and George W. Bush specifically for the wheeeeeeeeeee moment that we are likely to get from the markets.  You will also hear calls for more regulation.  They will spend most of the news cycle pretending the previous two years did not exist.  And they will expect the 52% to believe it, since vast right wing conspiracies are easier to conjure that a sense of personal responsibility.

The next day he was friends with everyone on FB named gay, had a status message that said "I'm dorothy looking for someone to bend me over the rainbow", joined several gay pride groups, changed status from single to looking for a man, and changed his profile pic to the gayest one I could find.

68 One of the Patterico commenters brought up that the "prank" tweets on May 3 and May 22 both mentioned "BDH," and expressed skepticism that "Ethel" could get pranked like that twice in a couple of weeks... well, it looks like she has a friend (or maybe boyfriend) who goes by BDH, and it's certainly plausible if he's the one who did it both times. "BDH" could very well have inserted his nickname into both tweets for that very reason, to "sign" his prank. It also seems likely that the one mentioning "weiner" and "honey mustard" got Weiner's attention and made him think, "Whoa, I got a live one here!" Why didn't "Ethel" delete those "prank" tweets? Perhaps out of a sense that this BDH guy had nailed her fair and square, and to try to cover it up wouldn't be sporting, or might invite escalation. Yeah, I guess that all makes sense.

81 That over-the-top sexual thing? That's a guy thing. We do that 200 times a day here. Plus, it was public. Posted by: Ace at 12:33 PM The first part? Not entirely true. But the 2nd part is the kicker. Women/girls/teenage girls are worse than guys when it comes to talking about over-the-top sexual things nowadays. Much worse. Especially young girls nowadays (teenagers to 20s). You should hear and see how some of my younger brothers' female friends behave and talk in real life and then express themselves on Facebook. Oy... But the difference between most women/girls/teenage girls and most guys is that girls leave the over-the-top sexual talk to chats with their friends. They don't talk about it publicly. Most women/girls/teenage girls like to keep the myth in public that they are 'good girls'.

His problem is money. He has no job skills outside telling other people how to live their lives. The job offer will get him out.

To some extent, he got to this with:

Let me ask you this. Looking back in 20/20 hindsight, do you think he was trying to get you into a relationship like he did with Weiss?  Like was there anything that sounded innocent at the time, but took on new meaning now all this happened?"

I realize that's not specific or pointed enough.  The whole interview I'm waiting for him to get more aggressive.  But she would have bailed.  No one else is getting an interview with her, so Aaron probably assumes folks like you can put 2 and 2 together and just ask her very generally about how it looks like he was either hitting on her, or his picture makes absolutely no sense.

Anyway, he also doesn't seem to care much about her opinion of Weiner's mindset, which is clever enough I guess, because she's not the authority on that or really much of anything else, and her claims to know many things for sure have been very faulty/dishonest.

Like a man dick. [while you see Seth when he was a kid] Seth: I'd just sit there hours on end drawing dicks. I didn't know what it was. I couldn't touch the pen to the paper without drawing the shape of a penis. Evan: That's fucked. Seth: No shit. It's really fucked up. Here I am. A little kid. And I can't stop drawing dicks to save my own life. see Evan: Alright, I mean... I just don't see what this has to do with Becca. Seth: Just listen. Okay? see Seth: Your precious little Becca sat next to me for all of fourth grade. And in the classroom was where I did the majority of my illustrations. I was very secretive about this whole dick operation. Even I thought I was fucking crazy. Imagine what everyone else would think? So I would stash all my dick drawings in this Ghostbusters lunchbox that I had. So one day, I'm finishing up this real big, veiny, triumphant bastard, all of a sudden... Kid: Pussy! [walks by the kid Seth and pushes his notebook and his dick drawing off the desk, and it lands near kid Becca] Evan: You hit Becca's foot with your dick? Seth: Yeah. I know. Then she rats me out to the principal. He finds this Ghostbusters lunchbox dick treasure chest and he fucking flips out. see Seth: He calls in my parents. Turns out this principal is a religious fanatic, and he thinks I'm possessed by some sort of dick devil. My parents go make me see some therapist, and he's asking me all these dick questions. They literally stopped me from eating foods that were shaped like dicks. No hot dogs, no popsicles... You know how many foods are shaped like dicks? The best kinds. Evan: Well, I don't... Isn't this pretty annoying?  She claims this was a harasser, but she's actually doing a lot of the harassment (or something much milder than harassment, but certainly no worse than Dan Wolfe was doing).  Here are some people worried about Weiner's disturbing behavior, and Coed is laughing at them and mocking them, following them to send a direct message, and then unfollowing and blocking to prevent a more public reply.  It's aggressively douchey behavior on her part.

Though that could just be because she's a huge fan of Weiner and so paranoid about conservatives that she can't think straight.

I mean, she liked Weiner's outbursts and that made her join the fanclub, so she's obviously into that sort of stuff.

Besides, Ace must be killing on page views. Posted by: Tom at June 12, 2011 02:13 PM The cynic in me sees the opposite happening. He'll just become the next Ted Kennedy. Was Kennedy ever a punching bag despite being a despicable piece of trash with MUCH worse in his background than sending a dicpic to someone on Twitter? Nope. The MF-ing media, Hollywood and Democrats will circle the wagons, his constituents will re-elect him and then that will be it. He'll be back to his asshole self.

I wouldn't take that bet no matter what odds you were giving.

What I believe will happen is that Weiner will be expelled next week.  Dems are clearly at the end of their rope with him and he had left them no choice.  Polite request that he depart have failed.  Outright condemnation has failed.  There's nothing left for them but to throw him out.  I think that's why he left for "treatment".  He knows they're going to expel him and he wants to be out of communication when they do.

The saddest thing is, I think the voters of New York will re-elect him even if he IS expelled.

179 I hate to pull rank here but some people really do not know what the F*** they're doing and seem to think that just shouting and jumping up and down is somehow aiding the cause.

Honestly, this is the best you'll get out of her on a Twitter interview.  She has too much time to think about (or get advice on) an answer.  Don't think that with every question you ask, she gets about a dozen unsolicited pieces of advice on how to respond.  Some of them might be "official".

If you want people to answer questions, you have to get their guard down.  Start asking her why she majored in journalism.  Get her emotions running up and down about things that she doesn't have to lie about.  You could get her angry by accusing her of choosing an easy major.  You'll get responses about how noble the journalism profession is.  You can build on that and trap her.  Moreover, you can point out how difficult her prospects are, given that "news" isn't a well-paying profession anymore.

You've got to break her down and that means that you have to go off-topic.

195 137 It is only good for "us" if "we" make something of it. GOPers won't say jack about it. They should in every single interview be saying well Senator so and so is just like Rep Weiner in denying that it is a government takeover of medical care. Pictures, videos, of anyone who has shaken hands and smiled with Weiner, or said anything nice, and all of the "he was hacked" stuff - every day.

But they don't. And won't.

I would say the RNC chairman has been effective in speaking-out about this issue-- he did so again this morning-- and a number of Rs have stated he should resign. A number of them likely won't make a bigger issue out of it, it's true, but they have indeed been talking about it.

Don't think that with every question you ask, she gets about a dozen unsolicited pieces of advice on how to respond. Some of them might be "official". She DM'd me early in this. Alas, I could not respond, because she wasn't following me. So a bunch of times on Twitter I asked, "Hey, if @[ComelyCoed] wasn't following someone, she'd know I couldn't respond to a statement, right?" Trying to tip her off publicly, without letting Some Other People know she'd communicated with me. So then she followed me. And said like "What's your question?" But now the Twitter had a glitch and wouldn't let me respond despite the fact I should have been able to. So I had to post: "Hey, if Twitter had a GLITCH, and so someone the ComelyCoed was following couldn't respond, she'd have to use EMAIL, right?" Anyway, this is part of the reason I get pissed off at fucking morons like Aristotle who think angry shouting and "really treating them like the left treats us" is the key to everything. What I was trying to tell people on the blog, weeks ago, was: HEY, THE COMELY COED CONSIDERS ME A REASONABLE INTERVIEWER SO CHILL OUT ON SAYING SHIT ABOUT HER SO I CAN SECURE AN EMAIL INTERVIEW, OKAY? Unlike in court she doesn't have to answer your questions (or plead the Fifth, which is often more damning).  You have to make her WANT to answer your questions.

I know Col. Jessup moments don't happen in real life court, but that's what you want here because as long as she has the opportunity to retreat, she will.

So by pushing the "mistake vs joke" contradiction in the "Coed vs Wiener" explanation , maybe she will be forced to open up more.

218 Hey curious. I know I promised not to do this anymore, but a little friendly advice.

When you screw up bad, it's best to apologize and then have a little quiet time.

Notice I said "quiet time" and not "angrily accuse everyone of being mean to you and having anger control issues and claim victim status."

Note that there are other times you might have considered following advice like that and would have avoided stepping in a rather large pile of digital poo.

After reading through all the comments, I didn't see anyone else mention it (average joe maybe since he's in the area), but CNN was interviewing protesters on their latest broadcast. It came on about 2:30 PM or so.

This is a nice escalation to keep the story going. Weiner played the 'rehab' card and right now people are coming out and protesting. Further protests might keep this story near the top of the news. As it is, CNN is trying to focus on the Republican Debate especially today, since yesterday was Weiner much of the day.

The protesters pushed Weiner back through CNN's coverage of the Republican Debate (which CNN is heavily invested in), the newest Gabby Giffords photos (which made Canadian news here) and the killing of the Al Quada leader (which you know the administration would have LOVED to be talking about but Weiner is still taking up a lot of news time.)

Actually there is something to be said for a nice (and thorough) round of jeering when one shits in the bed.  If one cannot get past ribbing on a page one chooses to visit and repeatedly refresh, perhaps a place where interaction with other posters is strictly limited would be more to one's taste.  Lucianne.com, i.e. a salon rather than a saloon, is the place for those with such tender sensibilities.

To the extent we get anywhere it is from her answers. What is the point of 1000 people shouting at her?Well, the point is she gets to do what she did here, which is disappear from the interview, using harassment as a reason.

294 >>>Maybe I don't understand the deal with Twitter, but just wtf is your rank there? You are trying to do what you are trying to do, but other people are trying to do what they are trying to do. You aren't paying for their bandwidth on Twitter, so what makes you think you have any rank at all over them? What gives me rank is that she was actually responding directly to me. I also was asking new questions, based on her new statements, not simply rehashing the same shit. Anyone can do what they want on Twitter. But if someone actually is getting responses, it's probably best not to cock-block that by shouting at her. But a lot of people are in politics just for the shouting. It's what they like doing. So to each their own. As I say a thousand times: "This really ought to be more about simple catharsis."

Revised for our modern times:

Oh, say can you see
By your monitor's light
What so proudly I sent
At the twilight's last tweeting,
Whose proud shaft and blue vein
While we chatted last night
From my breeches I pulled
As a quick online greeting?
And the red-tipp'd stiff reed,
The balls bursting with seed,
Gave proof through the Web
Of my powerful need
Oh, say, does that wide-Twitter'd Weiner yet wave
O'er the Internet free and the blogs of the brave?

304 >>> Whatever happened to the (highly plausible) theory earlier posed by the CC that the Tweet was meant for the porn star due to the alphabetical proximity of their names? After I started Tweeting on my iPhone, I realized how easily that could happen. It makes perfect sense that he'd claim at his press conference that he meant it for CC rather than admit his true, but completely unprovable, intentions. I have mentioned my problems before. Here they are again: 1. This would mean two, rather than one, mistakes in typing the recipient's address. Both missng the "d" plus getting the name wrong. This is possible, but I don't really love it. 2. The Seattle Shout-Out, time-chiming Seattle. 3. The Comely Coed's deleting of her account and scrubbing other references to her name. Add to that new information, where she concedes (in the Worthington interview) that she WAS DMing him, but just about how terrible it was that the born free crew were accusing Weiner of inappropriately chatting with young girls (and in response, he sends a dic pic). There's other stuff. Like, Why no PUBLIC statement after the dicpic was tweeted? Like "Dude, was that for real? What are you doing, dude? LOL." That would have been what you'd expect. Instead... well not so much. Also, see Verum Serum's piece on how her statement corresponded with the draft, suggested PR letter that Weiner sent to Ginger Lee. I can't say you're definitely wrong, but I just don't love this theory.

I know how to do this as I too am a woman who usually knows what's going on but can play the dumb broad as necessary esp to keep myself out of trouble. At first I thought it was innocent, then because she loves to tell us what her lib "friends" think, now I think she knows exactly what she's doing. It's a plan, and it's not obvious unless you're looking for it. The bitching at her is really just a reaction to the intuition that something is wrong there.

How about, no one includes underwear in a dic pic to a porn star?

Dic pic with underwear is somewhere around step two of what we now know the Underpants Gnomes were doing:

Step 1: flirtatious chat with innuendoes and double entendres.

Step 2: dic pic with underwear

Step 3: CYBERSEX!

Whether step 1 leads to step 2 and step2 to step 3 depends on what the person on the other end of the conversation does.

Reasonable questions on the Ginger/G******* mistake, especially about the @ instead of d.

But remember the theory that a salacious 140+ character message was bifurcated and the first part of the message was properly DMd while the second half -- the dicpic URL -- went to the public twitter feed? That would leave one mistake for Weiner (G/G) and one stupid feature for Twitter.

355 Was it ever determined when the underwear dic pic was originally taken? I tend to agree that that's not the pic to send to a pron star, especially when pics of Anthony's junior were already out there. The underwear shot seems like the first pic someone would attempt when diving into online exhibitionism. It worked, and he proceeded to become braver about the whole thing. The underwear shot seems to me to be the 'introduction' photo. If the recipient reacts well to it, then he goes into the collection for something more risqué. I just don't believe the theory that this pic was meant for the pron star.

Gave proof through the Web

Oh, say, does that wide-Twitter'd Weiner yet wave

400 What gives me rank is that she was actually responding directly to me.

This brings to mind an interview with some government official not to very long ago. I don't remember who the official was, but Chicago sticks in my mind, so maybe he was from there. Anyway, the regular group of "journalists" was asking him the standard softball questions designed to let him run his talking points. But, there was one guy who was not playing ball. He was asking the uncomfortable questions and would then stick with it on the followup when the official would try to dodge it. What was really telling was the response of the rest of the journalpack. They were trying to block him, both physically (placing their bodies between him and the official) and verbally, interrupting to ask some other question to give the official an excuse to to answer them instead of the guy who would not play ball. The official ended up terminating the Q&A session, using the excuse that the guy was harassing him. The journalpack blamed the one guy asking real questions, asking him "Are you happy now?"

Obviously, you will not see the two situations as analogous, and you may very well be right. Without the so-called harassment, she might have continued to answer your questions. Or, she may have not answered that question in any event; she just used the excuse at hand as a reason not to. Without that excuse, she could have just come up with another.

Either way, you are not entitled to demand that others cooperate with your strategy. I can imagine that you were probably a bit frustrated, thinking she was opening up, and then have her close down right when you thought you were getting somewhere. However, I would suggest that if you do want others to cooperate with you, asking would be a better tactic than demanding.

I did a ludicrously quick survey of some people I know with teenagers, and discovered that if your kid expresses serious interest in politics, and follows a politician, the politician (or his/her staff?) follows the teen back. Evidently, this is how politicians recruit pages, interns, people to stuff envelopes during reelection and so on.

So, maybe she's actually interested in politics?

I also asked my friends if their kids ever receive private messages from the pols they follow, and got a short answer: They better not!

They all really should be.  Yeah sure this "new media" is a great way for the Congress members to interact with their consituents but really I don't want mine to be handling 140 character messages all the time.  You know what is another awesome way to interact with constituents?  The Phone. But I doubt they're the ones answering that all day.

Its not as if they need someone just to handle twitter full time anyways.  Hell you could probably get a "New Media" staffer for them where they handle Twitter, Facebook, and maybe even some blog interactions too.  And you probably still wouldn't even need that as their fulltime job and it would still allow you to claim to be a well connected congressman in this digital age.

My memory ain't so good, but I think I recall when curious started showing up, a lot, at the HQ.  There was some speculation at the time that this was just someone, who'd .... and was gone for awhile.  Returning.

What I recall was her "concern". And always finding things to worry about.  Oh, I forget, she really started getting involved again around Scott Brown manis.  Ans took every opportunity to pore ice water on the smoldering embers.  After consulting a HillBuzz post on the topic, I concluded, maybe erroneously - eeyore.

I think I remember more too, that may explain this latest faux paux, but I don't think it's troll.  She's an eeyore with other things going on.

Y'ever seen those drama queens on "The Real Housewives of [wherever]?" Well I haven't either, but I've seen the commercials for them and it's enough to get the idea. That's how I see curious. Surrounded by weirdoes, a bit removed from reality, not certain of what she herself thinks, maybe has one very strong conservative friend/family member whose whisperings keep her this side of liberal insanity, and enjoying a quarter-pound burger no ketchup, medium straweberry shake, small fries, and a drop of Xanax.

Maybe.  But the behavior patterns demonstrate issues beyond just being a conservative surrounded by liberals.  Like the things the come up about Israel and talking about how "we" don't really understand it when she means she doesn't, and yet still spouts off without going out to learn.

The case of asking questions yet admitting that she doesn't stick around to learn the answers.  "I still don't know what a moby is"  Always being a victim, and also regularly twisting what was said a previous day or flat out lying about it like one day posting something with an air of seriousness and then the next day claiming that it was only talking about that in a joking manner.

Or claiming she was being attacked for one reason, like being from New York rather than the actual reason, which was closer to New York has the supreme moral authority on this matter.  Or you know calling someone a selfish bitch, having the post pasted in a thread the next day and almost directly below it claiming they never called anyone a selfish bitch.

Yeah if it was a one time thing, there's a lot of leeway, but its just this repeated pattern of behavior that comes off as odd an unwilling to learn.  Troll probably isn't the best word.  But is there really a short word for willfully ignorant liar incapable of critically thinking or learning?

476 Ethical issues?  What ethical issues could there possibly be surrounding a clump of cells?

Imagine being pregnant and taking a simple blood test that lays bare the DNA of your fetus. And suppose that DNA could reveal not only medical conditions like Down syndrome, but also things like eye color and height. And the risk for developing depression or Alzheimer's disease. And the chances of being gay.

So far that's still science fiction. But scientists have been taking some baby steps in that direction. And some ethics experts say it's time to start talking now about what that could mean for parents and society.

This is the second story in a two-part series on fetal DNA testing and the ethical issues raised by it.

Oh, say can you see
By your monitor's light
What so proudly I sent
At the twilight's last tweeting,
Whose proud shaft and blue vein
While we chatted last night
From my breeches I pulled
As a quick online greeting?
And the red-tipp'd stiff reed,
The balls bursting with seed,
Gave proof through the Web
Of my powerful need
Oh, say, does that wide-Twitter'd Weiner yet wave
O'er the Internet free and the blogs of the brave?

526 I discussed that with ace in an email and I think his big point on that being unlikely is that It requires two errors. Not only the dm vs public tweet but a choosing of the wrong person

It's not actually 10% 1st error * 10% 2nd error = 1% double error statistics math in cases like this.  If your already flailing for whatever reason, (thumbing touch screen while generating stimulus packages, lost in the UI, rushed), your likelihood of further error goes way up.  The 2 events get linked by human nature.

Yeah but then as he pointed out later, there's that 5:45 Seattle time Tweet hanging out there too.  And the similarity between the comely co-ed's and the strippers statements which are very similar.

I mean I was on board originally with the idea that he was actually DMing the stripper based on her tweets of that night.  But the timeframe for some things don't add up to make it a lock.  Like she's still talking about her love for him after midnight of that night, and there is a post up on her blog in just a skirt and using her hand to cover her tits.  If those had gone up before his dicpic went out then we could be playing connect the dots timeline with speculation.

And I think a stripper/porn star might be a little bit more palatable to go after than a young girl in college.  But it really does appear to be that yep he sent his dicpic to the college girl.

Willow, for chrissakes, it sounds fabulous.  But you really need to start calling it "egg-plahnt" -- that will erase any possible disdain from the decorating crowd (admittedly, not a bit bloc here on teh HQ, but still).

Say it with me, " ;">egg-plahnt."

Now go get that damn chair.  And then post some pics.  Quickly, because if your bedroom is anything like mine, you will only see the color for the first few days, then it will be completely covered in clothing.

Ha ha ha. arhooley's point is well taken. There is a certain subset of women who get away with that immature, whiny schtick because of their cuteness. I'm leaning for him being right. And Peaches being a bit jealous of that, as older, less-attractive women often are of younger women, and not wanting to give admit that likelihood. That us males ... could dislike curious's personality, but still imagine finding her more attractive than her, physically, must instinctively be ... a bit galling. Hasn't it often been sad that sisterhood aside, older women hate young women? It has been said ... .

597 He's fairly muscular for a small guy though. Could have been using a small, reasonable amount of a steroid to help him instead of a mega pro stack. Plus he probably doesn't have the genetics for great bulk. He's probably a hard gainer and roids could help him some. Bottom like: his physique could have been built with or without roids. ... but roids are testesterone derivatives and can cause hypersexuality and aggression. Weiner traits, no?

600 I don't remember all the complications of steroids

I've known some of those roid guys (Gold's Gym).  When they overheat (like from walking 5 steps), they exude the odor of rotting meat.  And they walk funny, due to the junk being all messed up.

Posted by: Peaches at June 12, 2011 02:19 PM (afUO8)

601 Acne often comes along with 'roid use.  And having seen lots of weiner skin, I don't see much evidence of acne.

609 Tivo shot. FB hacked. Is my blender gonna attack me next? #TheToasterIsVeryLoyal People are still retweeting that and posting under the "toaster" hash, lol. Such a cheerful little tweet from the most terrified man on the planet. I wonder how he had the presence of mind to construct it, given that he had to consider the psychology of the people who would read it and balance the pros and cons of drawing attention to his mistake vs just remaining silent and not committing to any position. I also wonder how long it was before he called a staffer or crisis manager to try to undo the damage. The official story is that nobody knew the hack story was a lie until last Monday morning. I don't see how that was possible, given that the obvious solution was to expose the "hacker" immediately through the FBI or contacting Twitter. For all we know, some staffer may have help him draft that very first exculpatory toaster tweet.

The "no one" who knew it wasn't a hack was presumably Huma, whom he had told just that morning. She -- very hard to type this -- she believed him until he came clean to her. Thank goodness, #TheKeyboardIsVeryLoyal and isn't bursting into flames at that.

I know I read somewhere that he was in crisis management with "his people" on Friday night, crafting the anti-Breitbart decoy plot. Not sure when he started begging Ginger Lee to lie.

What, we're not allowed to kid people about spelling errors anymore?

When "vouch" comes out as "vouche," that's funny right there.  And can't we then explore that thought a bit further by asking if there's such a thing as "vouchebags"?

We used to joke about radio station KUNT - the reception was always kind of hairy.

On the other hand, back in the 1970s, there was actually KOME-FM in San Jose.  It got away with station promos that declared it was "the KOME spot on your dial" and "you've got KOME all over your dial".

630 per NYCnews:  Anthony Weiner finally considering he may have to resign amid sexting scandal, says source

631 Ack, did you guys see that, in the OSU commencement speech today, Boehner 1) made a funny about Weiner and 2) managed to get in more weeping.

Posted by: Peaches at June 12, 2011 03:09 PM (afUO8)

632 The rules were hardly clear to most. And Ace seemed to be overparanoid. Like one ADA was saying he may not have understood how cases sometimes flow up to an ADAs office after an investigation is "concluded" by the police. The ADA could be wrong and never claimed to know how Delaware's offices worked, but THAT commentary simply isn't actionable by anybody. And then someone else posted a media link saying the investigation is ongoing. Just saying Weiner might still be being investigated, maybe, and were a bit confused on that point, isn't going to be enough to get somebody in trouble. Other stuff, sure, bit not that. Of course, Ace did let those commers stand, good for him, but he still seemed to be a bit queasy about the ADAs comment to start.

Thing that gets me the most about Weiner now-
Hubris.

Friggin' Hubris.

He has become a major distraction, he has tarnished, probably irrevocably, his rising star, he will be dogged from here on out with questions and innuendo....

...But he doesn't quit. The Dems are right to call on him to resign. His district would be better served by a representative who isn't being questioned about DM'ing 16 year olds at every turn. But Representative Weiner apparently doesn't think there is anyone else capable enough of serving the district other than him.
Bullshit. Frankly, for the D's, this is a no brainer- the fact it took them so long to call for him to resign speaks loads- this is a safe seat. They could run the mortal remains of a serial killer and the constituents would say "sure, that was bad and all, but I think his views on Health Care are good".

The Hubris is amazing. A democratic district with a strong liberal tradition, yet he doesn't feel there exists anyone else who can serve his constituents better than him.

You blew it congressman, do the right thing and resign.

It is a Congressional seat, not an entitlement.
