Am I The Only One Who Anthony Weiner Didn't Dick-Dial?
— Ace

I'm beginning to think there's something wrong with me.

Am I not worthy? What, I don't rate? (Now that I think about it: Hat tip to Dom Irera. That's his joke.)

More pictures of Weiner. Oh my dear sweet raging schadenboner.

Now he's taking semi-nude and nude pictures of himself at the Congressional gym.

I'm linking the full-nude holding-his-package pic. It's actually pretty safe for work. You can also see it at Weasel Zippers if you'd prefer to give them the traffic.

But it's hard to pick a favorite. Oh wait, no it's not.

TMZ has confirmed the pics were sent online to at least one woman.

I'm going to make a philosophical point here. Please do not mistake this for "going soft" on Weiner. (Believe me, I'm not gettin' soft at all, IYKWIMAITYD.)

Think about where Anthony Weiner was 15 days ago. Puffed-up bantam of a partisan venom-spitter -- a liberal cockatrice -- and a big fightin' hero on MSNBC and Daily Kos and partisan hate-rallies (like the Wisconsin rally he was scheduled to attend). Generally considered to be the prime contender for the next mayor of New York City.

And after getting serious executive experience... who knows what next.

Think about where he is now.

Now think about what caused this.

No, don't say "immoral behavior" or "reckless sexual compulsiveness" or "hubris" or the "entitlement of the putative elite" or "the need of high-functioning, modern men to take the edge off."

Yes, those caused this, but they weren't the immediate cause of this. He was doing that stuff for years without any problems arising from it.

No, what caused all this was.... a typo.

The Typo From Hell. Possibly the worst typo in the history of politics.

Not saying he doesn't deserve it -- he does -- but consider that but for a single clumsy move by an errant left forefinger, none of this happens.

The smallest error of a fingertip, and a man is wholly undone.

Just a little mindblowing.

I can't even comprehend how deeply that twitch of a fingertip is burned into his brain at this point. How he has revisited and revisited a single errant keystroke.

Thanks to George Orwell.

18 I would be fine with him staying in Congress if he would only do an interview describing in detail his thoughts, emotions and conduct in the first hour after making that tweet. And I'd love to see he phoned, texted and e-mailed after the fateful error. I do know his first regret. He thought: "Huma's overseas, it's the Friday before Memorial Day, and I had a full three days of cyber-fun planned. But now -- now I must deal with this. However, I doubt it was really the keystroke that doomed him. His days were numbered. One of those six women -- and it's more likely dozens and dozens -- would have come out or cashed in on their chats and pictures, if not this year certainly during the mayoral race. How he could have thought otherwise, I don't know.

21 @4,

#1.  There was more than just a single shirtless photo going on there.  Mr. Lee had apparently been enough of a poonhound to have been called in for several chats with the House GOP leadership before the photo surfaced.

#2.  We actually have some standards.

22 (If hadn't have been caught he would not have stopped and they would have gotten worse)

Imagine that fifteen years from now President Weiner is laid low by some long forgotten pictures of his tumid post that he sent a 14 year old girl back in 2012. Revenge is sweet for the now thirty something woman as Weiner's resignation catapults her new thrill, VP Debbie Wasserman Schultz, into the White House.

Posted by: Quilly Mammoth at June 12, 2011 07:01 AM (oYzxe)

23 I agree his days were *probably* numbered. But bear in mind, usually it's the wife who catches. And I don't want to suggest anything but she seems... okay with all this. I think if the wife caught, none of this would have happened. We'd have never known about it, and Weiner's life would have gone on much as it had. It was putting it out there to people who DID care -- such as, yes, a concerned guy on Twitter -- that caused this.

Posted by: ace at June 12, 2011 07:03 AM (nj1bB)

29 I have said all along that all Weiner had to do was claim he was tweeting his wife a picture and hit the wrong button.  Huma, having learned her great lesson in clinging onto power from Hillary, would have gone right along with it.  But, he believes he is smarter than the unwashed masses, including bloggers, who inhabit the interwebs, so he lied.  And lied and lied.  And, for once in his life, lying did not work.  It had always worked on his parents, his friends, his constituents, his wife, all of whom were predisposed to believe him.  But it did not work on Ace and Breibart and Patterico, who were not so inclined.

And I have laughed and laughed.

A typo didn't cause this.

'This' has apparently been going on for quite some time.  Long enough for many, many people to be aware of it.  Hell, there were people on twitter who went so far as to monitor his actions, and try to steer gorls/young women away from the freak.

All they got for their troubles was to be branded stalkers.

Any chance that's how it would have played out had Wiener been a Republican?  Didn't think so.

No, what cause this was power (a sad-loser-dweeb getting elected to Congress) combined with the internet (where he could play up his Congressional office, and avoid the limiations of his in-person sad-loser-dweebiness)  in an atmosphere of zero-consequences (due to a media chock full of enablers pathologically incapable of, and categorically unwilling to perform any meaningful oversight on their chosen political favorites.)

One of my High School teachers lost his job & faced legal issues after one of his former students - 20 years after the fact - came forward to say she had traded a blowjob for an "A" in one of his courses. Think about that. The little tramp got all she wanted from the (admittedly sleazy & stupid) guy, got into the college of her choice, pursued the career she wanted. And then 20 years later decides to destroy the guy that made it possible. A pox on both of them. But that is a perfect illustration of someone coming forward...

41 I think if the wife caught, none of this would have happened. We'd have never known about it, and Weiner's life would have gone on much as it had. She had more than a clue, I think. At his press conference he said she knew about a bunch of them before they married and was okay with it. I wonder what exactly he disclosed to her -- their identities, their pictures, their chats? I can see her being fine with him emailing some former girlfriends, but that's not what these women were. If she knew they were just random sexting hook-ups and married him anyway, she probably knew it wouldn't stop.

4. "yeah - different standards.  Democrats are allowed to whatever they want. They must commit murder in front of you to get fired."

And who says that is even enough to get them the boot to the ass? All that will trigger is all the lowlife, spinning insects claiming "the poor, overworked, misunderstood, maltreated demtard had no other choice but to slice that uncivilized, unevolved right wing teabagging fascist's head off and we should all be a whole lot more sympathetic because, because, because,...shut up! 85 70 Yes, the more of this that comes out, the stupider Weiner seems. He could have fixed ALL of this ten seconds after he did it by sending out a followup: "Oops! That was for Huma!" Because he's supremely arrogant and he's surrounded by a bunch of idiot progressives that love to stroke his (now all-too familiar) cock on MSNBC, I honestly think he thought he could just brush it off if he was ever caught.

He only surrounds himself with people that think that only backwards hilljacks would take issue with what he was doing. And let's go ahead and put him in the category of men that definitely don't think internet hijinks and sexting constitutes cheating on one's wife.

192 Boehner Rages On House Floor: "Weiner Fails To Rise To Voter Expectations"

Posted by: Warden at June 12, 2011 07:52 AM (fVIlG)

193 Steny Hoyer apparently said that Weiner should resign when he was on Meet The Press:

"Rep. Steny Hoyer (D., Md.), the House minority whip, said he did not believe Weiner could effectively represent his constituents and urged him to step aside.

'I would hope that Mr. Weiner would use this opportunity to reflect on whether he can proceed,' Hoyer said, speaking on CBS's "Face The Nation. 'I don't see how he can and I hope he would make that judgment.'"

So the theme of the morning is that the Dems want Weiner gone but they're letting him decide whether he'll stay. Surely they must realize that this current strategy makes them look weak.

Somebody gave the instruction to folllow Anthony Weiner's lead and they thought he said to go out and grab some virtual posse.
