— Gabriel Malor Pfc. Naser Abdo has been AWOL from his court martial for possession of child porn. Last year he refused to deploy to Afghanistan, claiming his Muslim religion forbids it. He was arrested yesterday near Fort Hood after inquiring at a gun store how to make homemade explosives.
Police in Central Texas have caught an AWOL Muslim soldier from Fort Campbell, Ky., at a motel in the city near Fort Hood after he asked how to build explosives at a gun store.A law enforcement official told CBS News that Pfc. Naser Abdo's questions about explosives and how to build them made the gun store employee suspicious. When police questioned Abdo at his motel, he made references to a plan to kill or injure people, the official said.
PROTIP for wannabe terrorists. Gun store employees are the last people you want to act shifty around. Their livelihood depends on weeding out crazies and turning them over to the authorities.
Some background on this guy. Last August he refused to deploy. In June, the Army Review Boards Agency recommended he be separated from the Army as a conscientious objector. But that got put on hold because the MPs found child porn on his computer. He's been in court martial proceedings since then, but he skipped out on appearing for trial.
If you can stomach it, CNN slobbered all over him back in August when he refused to deploy.
According to Abdo in the CNN video, he consulted a Muslim Army chaplain who told him to suck it up and go to war. Abdo disagreed, claiming that his religion prohibits him from all warfare.
Be aware, some dude on the internet says that Abdo claimed his religion prohibits killing Muslims, but not killing anyone else. I haven't found a primary source for that yet, so take it with a grain of salt. It contradicts what Abdo says in the CNN video.

First off, as fluffy pointed out- you should have figured that out in Basic. Second, I've never had military training of any kind, and I know how to make a basic explosive (in theory- no, I've never actually done it).

Yeah that's something I never understand. There are literally millions of vocations out there, why do people who dislike war and killing sign up for the army?
I can understand their are conscientious objectors when there is a draft, but in an all volunteer army?
Oh and I'm sure CNN will point out that they interviewed a child porngraphing terrorist in the best light.

You left out the part that this genius probably enlisted AFTER we started bitch slapping Afghanistan. We had one guy in boot camp spout off the night before we were going to do live fire at the rifle range about how "the private doesn't want to kill sir". The look on the Drill Instructor's face was priceless. He asked this idiot, " you do know that you enlisted in the Marine Corps? You had some idea of what we do?"

There are lots of people in Central Asia who dont look ME and they are the people we are fighting. Have you ever seen pics? Never EVER think the enemy always looks a certain way. I can look at folks and tell you what region they are from, sometimes what tribe. I wish more of our people studied that.

U.S. officials told ABC News an AWOL serviceman, identified by the FBI as a Private First Class Naser Jason Abdo, was arrested Wednesday after making a purchase at Guns Galore in Killeen, Texas, the same ammunition store where Maj. Nidal Hasan purchased the weapons he allegedly used to gun down 13 people and wound 30 others on Nov. 5, 2009.
Abdo, 21, allegedly told law enforcement he was targeting the base to "get even," according to law enforcement documents obtained by ABC News. The soldier had gone AWOL from Fort Campbell's 101st Airborne Division over the July 4 weekend, according to a senior military officer.
When he was arrested, Abdo was in possession of large quantities of ammunition, weapons and what appeared to be the makings of a bomb, according to early accounts from law enforcement. He had also apparently purchased an Army uniform with Fort Hood patches from a local surplus store.

On the eve of his first deployment to Afghanistan – after only one year in the Army – Abdo applied for conscientious objector status. It was denied by his superiors at Ft. Campbell but later overturned by the Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Army review board.
To me, that sounds like the Army caved for fear of a lawsuit of some such nonsense from people like CAIR.

For those who haven't read it, one of the Koran Sura's (I don't remember wich one off hand) defines murder as: 1) Killilng a muslim man, unless it's part of a fued, 2) killing a muslim woman, unless by one of her male relatives, and 3) killing a non muslim whose paying protection money. If you, as a non-muslim, are killed by a muslim, under the Koran, it's not murder.
