Barack Obama vs. Bill O'Reilly
— Ace

Obama claims that Benghazi is a false scandal which is only talked about because people on FoxNews keep talking about it.

Full video below. He denies everything. He also denies denying everything.

13 obama unintentionally makes a good point. Benghazi is unimportant to the mainstream because the "mainstream media" isn't talkng about Benghazi, which sheds light on a much bigger point. It's not called "mainstream media" because they report and discuss the issues most important to mainstream Americans, but because it is The Media that decides what is mainstream.

14 "O'Reilly is such a pussy interviewer,unless the interviewee is a nobody."

I caught a comment from one of the Horde the other day about how O'Bully was boasting how he was really going to be tough as nails on his subject and grill The Won with hard questions.

I laughed like a drain. What, like the previous interview with The Won where O'Bully completely let slide the ludicrous assertion by Obama that his promise not to raise taxes on those making under $250K has been kept in full? Despite the Obamacare mandate having been formally ruled a tax by the SCOTUS.

Yeah, pull the other one.

Someone else had said in a previous thread about Fox News how poorly it presaged for the future of conservatism when so many people's first introduction to it is that blockhead Sean Hannity. Bingo. Likewise O'Bully's weird, smarmy mixture of kissing up and kicking down.

Good Obama let America see the videotape (presumably from the security cameras added to the facility in response to the previous IED attack on the compound). That video was made CLASSIFIED--in the midst of the Benghazi hearings. De -Classify them. (I'm going to try and get the minute mark and exact language Obama uses.)

For the first few years of O'Reilly, he did some good interviews. But now for years, not so much. NBC, by comparison, is a joke of a news network; not just MSNBC, but NBC.

43 Okay it was harder than I thought--to get the exact language. It starts at the 4 minute and 54 second mark. **** Dialogue Obama:..and when you look at the videotape of this whole thing unfolding, this is not some systematic well organized process you see... O'Reilly: There was heavy weapons used, and that's...heavy weapons and that's a...heavy weapons coming in... Obama: What you--what you see...Bill...look, Bill...listen--I've gone through this and we have had multiple hearings on it. What happens is you have an attack like this taking place and you have amid of folks who are just trouble makers, you have folks who have an ideological agenda, you have some who are affiliated with terrorist organizations, you have some that are not, but the main thing that all of us have to take away from this is our diplomats are serving in some very dangerous places, and we've got to make sure that not only have we implemented all the reforms that were recommended by the independent agency we also had to make sure that we understand our folks out there are in a hazardous, dangerous situation and we..(crosstalk)...no but, but actually no (crosstalk) not everybody does because what ends up happening (crosstalk) what ends up happening us we end up, --ah creating a political agenda on something that, which Democrats and Republicans should be unified in trying to figure out how are we going to protect people in the [future].

Posted by: notropis at February 02, 2014 03:18 PM (bvlUm)

47 So a couple of things. First RPA's were brought in. O'Reilly refers to that. Also in the Senate Intel Committee release there is mention of the drones "seeing" that roadblocks were set up to prevent an easy rescue. Now who did that --who knows--the report isn't very clear--but that seems to delineate "organization" and does not seem to be something purely "spontaneous." Also to Obama's greater point-- "that we have to understand our folks out there are in a hazardous, dangerous situation"-- well Obama and Clinton left them there--and our diplomats and people were the only people left behind in Benghazi. every other country, the Norwegians--maybe, definitely the Brits and other multi-national organizations --like the Red Cross had bugged the hell out. Our people were the only people left behind. And it was Obama's unilateral choice to intervene in Libya--in the first place. Republicans and Democrats didn't vote on that. Obama did that. It was Lt. Colonel Wood's greatest fear that our people would be an enormously tempting target in that heavily infested by terrorist organizations area --Benghazi, because WE--The United States--were the only flag organization left behind.

59 Mr. Gosar.[...]Lieutenant Wood, is it true in your time in Libya that things were going that great, and would you describe the conditions in Libya from your personal point of view? Colonel WOOD. Yes, sir. From my personal point of view, things in Libya always remained difficult and uncertain and could devolve at any moment into further problems and result in loss of life al- most at any minute. SST members were fully integrated with the diplomatic security people there and worked through and under all these difficult circumstances. I have a couple of things here I am trying to find. There were numerous incidents. Lawless situation was pretty much the norm. There was assassinations that went on of Qadhafi loyalists. And back and forth. Insurgent activity continued along the border town of Al Kufra, where it drained a lot of the meager resources of the fledgling government to go down there and try to put down rebellious and insurgent activity going on down there. There was no control of the borders or weapons smuggling in or out of the country. There was a loss of control of weapons types pre- viously mentioned here—the shoulder-fired missiles. And tanks and anti-aircraft guns could be found in the possession of almost anyone anywhere in Libya. Tribal interests frequently competed with each other and resulted in fire fights. It was a common occurrence. When I first arrived on the ground in Tripoli, I got to where I could recognize celebratory gunfire from actual gunfire fights. They were shooting at each other. That did die off a little bit. However, we did notice an increase in targeted attacks towards Americans. These indicators spelled out to me that the country was far from secure and that the SST, as it had been originally conceived, was still in need at that location. Mr. GOSAR. Well, in a document that was produced in late July— and I have that document right here. The document is over 230 events in Libya since June of 2011. Mr. Nordstrom included this in his part of the general assessment on the security environment. In fact, prior to this attack on our embassy, didn’t the Red Cross and the British consulate move out of Libya? Colonel WOOD. Yes, sir, that is entirely correct. The British consulate moved out when I was there and they actually had an MOU with us to leave their weapons and vehicles on our compound there in Benghazi. They would come back and occupy at times, draw their weapons and vehicles, and do their work, and return them and leave. The attack on the International Red Cross was another attack that also involved us and threats to the compound there in Benghazi. The threats were made on Facebook to both the remain- ing Western influences there in Benghazi, being the Red Cross and the U.S. Embassy compound. The Red Cross was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades in early June. When it was attacked a second time, I believe they made the decision they were going to give up and leave Benghazi. When that occurred, it was apparent to me that we were the last flag flying in Benghazi. We were the last thing on their target list to remove from Benghazi. I voiced my concerns at the country team meeting. Although it was a difficult thing, the country team was left with no options at that point to try and change the security profile there in Benghazi. The resources had been withdrawn. The decision to not renew the SST was pretty much a foregone conclusion by that point in time, but I urged them to do something and anything, to include with- drawal from Benghazi, although I knew that was impossible at the time.

Posted by: notropis at February 02, 2014 03:49 PM (bvlUm)

61 Mr. LABRADOR. Okay. It is pretty clear that you are coming here with information about reports that you are unwilling to say. And I think we are going to have to have a classified hearing at some point. I just have a quick question for Lieutenant Colonel Wood and Mr. Nordstrom. Given the information that you saw on TV and your knowledge of the situation in Libya, did you come to a conclusion as to whether this was a terrorist act or whether it was based on some film that was on the Internet? Lieutenant Colonel Wood. Colonel WOOD. It was instantly recognizable to me as a terrorist attack. Mr. LABRADOR. Instantly recognizable. Colonel WOOD. Yes, sir. Mr. LABRADOR. And why is that? Colonel WOOD. Mainly because of my prior knowledge there. I almost expected the attack to come. We were the last flag flying. It was a matter of time.

Just before I stopped watching any TV "news" back in the late 90s (short break of some watching for 9/11 and Iraq), I caught BOR a few times.  He was unwatchably stupid and smarmy.  I always hesitate to say it here, but it astounds me that anyone could watch his show as much as anyone could watch MSNBC or listen to NPR.  Different animals, but jaw-droppingly distorted crap all of them, for the most part.

Fox in general, when I stopped watching, was vastly superior to the other "news" products for about 20 minutes per day (the better parts of Special Report) - which is intended as faint praise.  Mostly tabloid crap and vapid shows/screamfests like BOR and Hannity.   As noted by other commenters above, it is yet another reminder of how hopeless the information/framework situation is that the vast misinformed masses perceive Fox as "conservative", when what it is, at best, is pretty much normal mediocre TV news that does not look like it was produced by the WH or Reid's press secretary.

Oh, and by the way, of all the TV "journalists" encountered in a few years in one of our war zones, Shepp Frog Face was easily the biggest jerk.  Perfect for our age - unimpressive and full of himself.  Tobin was very easygoing.  Most of the TV types were OK, some were actually pretty good (off-air and away from their colleagues some of them shared their astonishment at some of the more outrageous examples in the "coverage" of the conflict).   Even headliners varied tremendously.  Anderson Cooper was very unpresumptuous and open-minded, while (sit down) Amanpour was so idiotic and out of line at one event that she narrowly avoided being detained by security (the other press present were actually asking if she could be ejected).

79 Boneheaded decisions? Isn't that what he said about getting money from a slum lord to buy his Chicago town house?

Ohh riiighhht. Boneheaded decisions. *wink wink*

BTW, check out the earful that the San Jose Mercury News is getting on its Facebook page, after they asked for people's experiences with Obamacare.

82 Wow.  From TMZ,

Our sources say ... Hoffman was found in his bathroom in his boxer shorts, with a needle sticking out of his left arm.  We're told police found 10 glassine envelopes -- 2 of the envelopes had heroin ... the others presumably were empty.

One of the envelopes had "Ace of Spades" written on it, and another had an ace of hearts symbol -- such symbols and words are often markers from people who make heroin -- to brand it.

I made the same comment about the commercial over on the SB thread.

87 Of course he denies it and denies denying it.

Why even argue logic?

He's an Alinskyite - what else do you expect him to do?

88 Notice how Obama uses the bill and hill tactics to deny, obfuscate, generalize specific questions to dodge them.
Did you forsee?  Obama, I don't think ANYBODY FORSAW..
Obama,If you like your insurance you can keep it....Just a mistake
Obama, Ben Ghazi; People don't know what happens when it happens on the other side of the world !  Really ?  Satellites haven't been invented yet ?  and the 'at the moment' situation room, doesn't exist ?
Asked specifically of him, Obama answers; What 'we' understand, swearing attesting to NOTHING.
Obama, We don't need to fundamentally change the Country, even though they are Obama's own words to fundamentally change the Country.
Obama has learned to dodge and obfuscate well from slick willys tutulage at the Whitehouse.

89 As between Bill "O Blowhard" and "Obozo", it's a dead heat for who is the bigger shithead. O Blowhard was touting his interview of Obozo for a few days before the Super Bowl. Mercifully I managed not to see that debacle. But somehow in the pregame warmup shows, Jill Biden and Moochelle showed up. Can't these jerkoffs stay away from a pleasant American Sunday?

90 Wow, he's only 65, everyone who saw him in person always says "oh, he's in his 70's".

91 His use of "terrorism" in the Rose Garden Speech on 9/12/12 was a in a throwaway line in one of the last paragraphs of his speech (and not said with any conviction when watching the tape) rather than in the first paragraph if he really meant it! I wish Romney had the keen sense to have ordered Candy Crowley to either read the entire speech verbatim or force the media company that sponsored that debate to pull up the entire clip for the audience to decide. Wait, what "videotape" is Obama talking about that would have showed how the attack started as apparently "supersmart" Hillary was confused enough to blab that during her infamous "what difference does it make?" remark that she did not know if it was a demonstration or random people "out for a stroll" who wanted to bomb the consulate???!!! At least O'Reilly's interview inadvertently showed how often and in a "second-nature" way Obama deflects blame from himself to "everyone" or changes the direction of the question as Obama probably thinks that he can out-fox O'Reilly (especially with ground rules in his favor) but in his overconfidence and hubris shows the average, astute American exactly what kind of worm his is. I hope a journalist tomorrow asks Obama that if there is not "even a smidgen" of corruption in the IRS, why did Lois Lerner "plead" the Fifth??? I think he overplayed his smug-ass hand!!!(My fantasy would be to have Rep. Trey Gowdy conduct the interview for 3 hours!!).

92 Well, I give you credit. You are certainly more involved and tolerant than I. The second I hear that POS was going to be interviewed during the pre-game, I was adamant I would not watch one second of it. When I setup my deep fryer and came inside to find him on, I shrieked and dove for the remote before my ears could be tainted by one of his fucking lies. For a while we watched the spanish language channel. I didn't care, so long as that POS liar would not be allowed to tell his lies on my TV.

No, I guess that lying motherfucker really wasn't going to answer the question after all. Arrant turd pulled the same stonewall a couple times. OR conceded  and moved on. Bet there aren't any cats within 1000 yards of the WH. Lying turd has a fear of being buried alive.

94 Limbaugh agrees with me--"O'Baxter" at least asked questions of the Emperor that he had never been asked before and that's a good thing.
