I can't say that I like the New Tone. It does sound like tough-guy cheerleading, as Allahpundit says, but there are bound to be a few numbskulls out there who will take this as a call to violence, especially given the long history of union-sponsored violence. Let's hope not, though.

If you want to do something to hit back at the Teamster's, do this:
Boycott UPS.
Use Fedex Ground, whatever. UPS is a closed Teamster shop. I like UPS, their service is good, etc. I don't have anything personal against our UPS delivery guy. But if many people boycotted UPS for a few months, I wonder what the reaction would be? Especially at Christmas, as that is their peak season.

So. Punish one of America's greatest success stories? A company that has survived despite the weight of the union around its neck. A company that has to compete with the non-union opposition in Tennessee who also has the benefit of being regulated, not by the FMCSA, but by the FAA.

The post office isn't going to close, but something drastic must be done to change the stranglehold the union has on them. Otherwise, regulations will need to be lifted in order to allow private businesses handle mail. However, if FedEx or UPS takes it over, don't look to send a letter across the country for 45 cents ever again.
If I were either company, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. If they think regulation is bad now, just wait until they take on that beast.
