— Gabriel Malor I don't know if that means he's resigning or if he simply isn't planning to run for reelection. All the outlets simply use the word "retirement."
Two GOP sources confirm to Fox that 3-term Senator Jon Kyl will announce his retirement at a noon news conference Thursday in Phoenix. The Arizona lawmaker is the No. 2 Republican in the Senate.
Kyl, 68, served four terms in the House before winning a Senate seat. In 2006, he was named one of the 10 best senators by Time Magazine.
Kyl is term-limited out of the GOP leadership next year, unless he challenges McConnell for Leader, which he clearly doesn't want to do.
Scuttlebutt here at CPAC is that there is no clear GOP successor, however Rep. Jeff Flake or Ruth McClung would probably be the strongest GOP candidates. On the Democratic side, Rep. Giffords would have been a strong contender for the seat. A rumor zipped through here that Sec. Napolitano might run, but that was just speculation being passed on as truth, so far as I can tell.

Well, campaigning for her would be a cinch. All she'd have to do is set up stands to hand out campaign leaflets, SS applications, drivers licenses and welfare debit cards at all of the illegal immigrant superhighways into the state that she refuses to do anything about.

Too bad it wasn't McConnell.
Or Cornyn. Or McCain. Or Graham. Or Luger.
Kyl had to go because, IMHO, he was too close to the "good old boys" establishment in the Senate, but I'd really have preferred that McCain go.

I've seen Janet Napolitano speak before, and that bitch is too dumb to read a teleprompter correctly. I'd rather see Meggy Mac in that seat, and from me, that's saying something.

Probably an early announcement that he's not running for re-election.
Flake would be a great replacement. I wonder if Kyl has this in mind. This announcement is early enough to allow the legislature to take the Senate race into account when it comes to redistricting.

Napolitano was a pretty popular gov, as far as I know.
By the end of her time there, she was fairly unpopular.
When you refuse to do anything about the state's immigration laws despite the economy is going in the tank and your biggest city being #2 in the world in kidnappings due to cartel activity, it tends to have that effect. And that's BEFORE everything she did while at DHS to piss off the people in Arizona.

It was funny to go to her campaign website (AFAIK, it's still up).
Video after video of "Republicans for Giffords".
I think if the GOP had known the Tea Party wave was coming, they could have put up a more polished candidate against her. I think it's true of a number of Democrats.

"I hope we can do that together," Issa said of job creation efforts. "I probably still won't vote for him, but I certainly wouldn't feel bad if Americans were working again, and he did get another four years."
"My goal is to strengthen the president," Issa said Thursday, contrasting with top Republicans like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who's said defeating Obama in 2012 is his top priority. "I think the last two years weakened the president, because they gave him too much money, too loosely, and without the kind of opportunity to give and take that makes America stronger."
"If the president's going to win reelection, he's going to win reelection because, together, we turned the economy in the right direction, American businesses invested, Americans went back to work and are feeling good in 2012," he added.

Gabe, Ruth McClung? Are you serious? I live in her district and voted for her for Congress, but she would hardly be a strong candidate:
For starters, should would be barely old enough to take office. She turns 30 in February 2012 -- the minimum age for a senator. Not a credibility-builder.
Second, she has no experience that would lead you to believe she could win a statewide race. She ran a horrible campaign for the House. Yes, she came within a whisker of winning. But her camapaign was the most amateurish effort I've ever seen. Her mother, I believe, was her campaign manager.
She's a frick'n rocket scientist at Raytheon. She has zero in the way of political instincts.
The most popular politician in Arizona right now is Gov. Jan Brewer. She's the one who should be considering the race.

Could we do the same thing here in the States to bring down Obamao? Would the media support that "peoples revolution"?
Those are rhetorical questions by the way, I already know the answers; Obamao would use mass protests as an excuse to implement martial law and establish the "peoples paradise" of communism he so desperately wants here. The media would lament the necessity of killing millions of conservatives reactionaries as a necessary evil.
Those rhetorical questions do need to be asked to the MFM though and loudly; just to point out to them that we can see what pieces of crap® the people in the Liberal media are.

There is a view that the boomers just want government entitlements - but that is not true; boomers are realizing how much of a mess they made of the world in their youth and are trying to do something about it. Most of the old hippies have reformed.
Are there hippies still around? Yes, but they are few and far between. Please be aware that the whole hippie, love child, thing was a media invention from day one - the same way that Gangsta rap music is a media invention (Gangsta Rap is liberal racism - designed to turn the average non racist white person into a racist; "See how hostile, big, dangerous, and scary those Negroes are!")

The 70s were really the wild times for drugs, but even then they had not blown up to the levels they are now. For that I blame LBJ and the great society.
And guess what generation he was. That is why I say "the greatest generation" is the one mostly responsible for this mess.
Of course now, the boomers are in power, but it is the real product of the LBJ crowd that is in charge now. You may also say that FDR is responsible for the mess we are in now because it was his socialism and court packing that gave us most of this shit.
He is even before the "greatest generation".
