Britain Burning: Underclass/Youth Riots For Third Night
— Ace

Live streaming coverage from the BBC.

Sketchy details about "youths:"

British prime minister David Cameron and other senior politicians were planning to fly back from holiday on Monday as riots spread through London with potent images of the capital ablaze beamed around the world and emboldened youths attacking in broad daylight.

...

In a sign that rioters were growing in confidence, between 50 and 100 youths gathered on a busy junction in Hackney, east London, not far from the site of next yearÂ’s Olympic games, during the early afternoon, throwing missiles at police and setting light to cars.

...

AP reported that police have ordered London football clubs to call off matches.

If you're consuming the media, you probably don't know what it's about. I assumed that meant it was racial, and the telegraph seems to obliquely confirm that with the euphemism "underclass."

The police shot a black guy in suspicious circumstances. Feral kids with no jobs ran amok. To TonyÂ’s mind, this was a riot waiting for an excuse. In the hangover of the violence that spread through London, the uprisings seemed both inevitable and unthinkable. Over a few days in which attacks became a contagion the capital city of an advanced nation has reverted to a Hobbesian dystopia of chaos and brutality.

...

Among several obvious answers, one is a failure of policing. The evidence so far points to more ignominy for the rudderless Met, as doubts emerge over whether Mark Duggan, whose death inspired the initial riots, fired at police. The stonewalling of Mr DugganÂ’s family precipitated the crisis, and the absence of officers to intervene in an orgy of looting led to a breakdown of order suggestive of the lawless badlands of a failing state.

It's pretty amazing that there are major riots going on in a world capital and the media won't tell us anything about them, out of a belief we can't handle it.

Much like the media blackout on the car-b-ques in places throughout France, and even in the suburbs of Paris, throughout the mid-00's.

That's when I learned that if 100 cars are torched within the span of one night, the French authorities don't consider it a riot.

Riots in Hackney, Tottenham, Croydon,  and Ealing---this stuff is spreading.

These urban "yutes" are picking up tips from the young black A holes in Philadelphia and in Wisconsin.  So far in London they've put 55 policemen in hospital. About time to break out the live fire ammunition and have a few more flipping funerals for these "yutes".

As an American in London, I am seeing it first hand. Your statement about the welfare state’s death convulsions are true — there is a small business owner on BBC news talking now about a restaurant of his getting trashed in Ealing, a rather nice part of West London. He noted that despite all the talk of this being a response to poverty, the looters are wearing designed tracksuits and communicating by I-Phones.

25 Gosh darn it, just when President Obama was going to solve our problems in the U.S., another world disaster happens like the London riots happens, that will prevent him from saving us.  He tries so hard to save us, and it so unfair that these horrible incidents around the world, like the Japanese earthquake, or the Texas drought, or the Arab spring, or those horrible ATMs spreading over the planet and devouring jobs, prevents him from working his special magic to save us all.

32 Interesting, the telegraph article insists that the only solution is more social democracy.  Example:
the view is gaining ground that social democracy, with its safety nets, its costly education and health care for all, is unsustainable in the bleak times ahead. The reality is that it is the only solution.

33 I step out of lurking to report right in the thick of the city. It’s been a bit . . . un-nerving here in North London tonight. Went out in the garden about 10 PM and could hear several sirens, mostly in the distance or travelling from north to the south. A couple of them went screaming by the house. There hasn’t been any nonsense evident in this neighbourhood–and we have no reason to think it will occur. But it could. We hope it won’t. Talked to the neighbour (who is a London LFC fan and a tough old dog) and we’re all safe w/ home security and watching each others’ backs. Can’t come up with anything more profound to say other than prayers for All of Us, and special ones for the people who will suffer for a long time as a consequence of the lawlessness we’re sitting in right now. There are a lot of decent people out there tonight who won't have a job to go to, who will have to live with the scars of this for a long time, and who can get very few answers to their questions other than "It was lawless recklessness by a bunch of jackals who tweeting and acting on impulse." Pah.

40 OT but, Speaking of youth riots... Did you see over on Drudge where Michigan has awakened and kicked 30k college kids off food stamps. The whining is pathetic: We should be studying, not worrying about where we're getting our next meal, blah, blah, blah.

There's a reason that I'm in my 40s and still working on my degree. It's because when I was young I worked two and three jobs at a time to feed myself and my daughter. After spending my youth in section 8 housing and on food stamps, my pride would not have permitted me to accept food stamps as an adult.

Guess I'm the sucker, huh?

Seriously:  In half a century, when kids are asking us what the fuck happened to Western society, what are we going to say?  That the professors and the lawyers allied with the street thugs and religious nutcases to burn it all down?

They're going to look at us with their mouths open and say, "But that doesn't make any sense!  Why would they do that?"  And for lack of anything better to say, we'll tell them the allegorical story of the scorpion and the frog.  Maybe they'll understand, a bit.

Then they'll turn to leave, then stop and turn back around... "Oh, Grandma/ Grandpa, I almost forgot.  Where were the rest of you when all this went down?"

Sorry, just feelin' a bit blue.  And pissed.

That's what it always is, from the small to the large, every aggressive, undermining, destructive act by the non-insane is an excercise in power and control - the core motivations vary somewhat, but from the petulant child who cries "racist" in public to shut down an argument to the politician who obliquely urges censorship to the "community organizer" who plans street mayhem, it's all about "I'm the one who has power here!" Enough people have and act off that instinct that human history is pretty much a history of bloodshed. Oh, shit, I was supposed to be cheering you up, wasn't I? Sorry.

57 I am also an American in London (I have been here for several years) and I can say that the neighborhoods in which this is happening, for the most part, are not 'muslim' ones. In fact, if you read the Telegraph's account, a large group of Turkish youths (100+) confronted a similarly large group of black youth who seemed to be trying to break into shops in Stoke Newington, an area with a lot of Turkish shops. Also, a group of 'youths' apparently tried to break into an Islamic bank near Whitechapel, but were chased of by a group of muslim youth who had gathered to guard the nearby East London Mosque. There does seem to be a characteristic trait shared by the criminal looters, but it is not an Islamic one. It is, no doubt, coordinated, and although I have friends and colleagues who have chosen to live in or near these neighborhoods, I have not, so I can not send you any first had pictures of the action.

I've always hated that quote. It's collectivist, it assumes the sheep deserves what the wolves vote to have for dinner.

If you try to apply it to history you immediately start running into horrific comparisons.

There's been lots of talk tonight about moving back to the States/WI, but I understand you had the WI State Fair that looked a lot like London tonight? All of this has the same "flavor." As for this coming here, it already has.  This isn't much of a leap from the recent events in Milwaukee.  I'm just waiting for the shit to really hit the fan when one of these yutes over here tries the "pull a man out of his car for a bit of the ol' ultraviolence" routine on an armed citizen.  That scenario is just a matter of time.

91 Bobo Main I have not heard anything from the authorities. I don't think that there is any reason to. For the most part, to me, it seem like it is certain neighborhoods devouring themselves. And like I said before, I don't live in those neighborhoods nor do I frequent them. Though I will say that London, even with this stuff going on, is generally safer than any major city that I have lived in in the US. I grew up in Houston, and have lived for a considerable amount of time in Atlanta, Tampa, and San Francisco, and there I always knew which parts of town I should NEVER visit. It is not the same here in London. And even with these riots, I will not feel unsafe in the neighborhoods in which they are happening if I go to them tomorrow (just maybe not right now). Like I said, it seems to me like a self-devouring of some people, used by other people (gangs and anarchist/far-left socialists) to try to advance their goals. In the end, there will be less sympathy for these people here. The downfall of Britain due to multi-culti sentiment may be exaggerated.

The Police Commissioner has said the right things: we deplore this--go home--parents, do you know where your children are?--the CC coverage works just fine and we will find you and there will be consequences. Same with Twitter (Blackberry has also agreed to help find the perps.) It's disgusting and grievous to see furniture stores, vehicles (including firetrucks), and people's private residences in roiling flames. God be with their families.

106 Oh look, there's a reference to a book that blames the rich people!  And then she mentions just how prophetic it is!  There's a shocker!

I suppose we'll soon be hearing from the LSD/MSM about how we could be London if we don't do something right away about the "social injustice" in this country.  The fact that England is much farther down the Socialist black hole than we ever were will make no never mind to them.  Much like none of the chaos that came about in the other heavily socialist countries that flat out vaporized their financial abilities to support said system.  One would assume that the current events over there would make someone understand that the warm and fuzzy idea of socialism doesn't work.  You run out of money at some point, like they did.  And they ran out while enjoying the convenience of having large numbers of  American military stationed in their countries, greatly reducing their need to budget for their own defense.

Ya know, one time when I was young, I pissed into the wind and my shoes got wet.  After that, I made sure to piss with the wind at my back.  I can only assume that the liberal buffoons who are trying to push this crap down our collective throats must like having wet feet.

And if I am wrong, and the opposite occurs, I am so effin outta here. Anybody got any suggestions to where I can go to?

124 One "wish" we talked about tonight is that Cameron has called his holiday short and is flying back to London to deal with the racial riots. I wish that he'd get off the plane and announce that from this moment on, he's re-instituting Capital Punishment, and anyone whose criminal acts result in a loss of life will be hanging on a gibbet on Tower Hill. These kids quite literally consider an ASBO (Anti-Social Behaviour Order) a badge of honour. They laugh on camera when warned about them. They know it will be a six-month suspended sentence and/or attending a government run camp where they will be told that there are gentler, nicer ways for them to vent their anger. These places need lots of sports equipment, furniture, and copious amounts of tea and biscuits at hand. Sometimes they even take some of the more troubled Yoots on trips to the south of Spain to aid in their therapy. Tower Hill and gibbets for the worst--hard labour for the the second tier. Can we borrow Sheriff Joe Arpaiho? (He's too busy. Sigh.)

There was a bullet in the radio of one of the police, proving they were returning fire. Yet...how dare they arrest a black dude? Honestly, at this point, it just becomes mob mentality of looting and burning, as this is the third straight night. If you polled 90% of these thugs they would not give the original reason for the riot tonight.   Look up Watt's Riot in LA  from 1965 and you will see this is old news.

For a society already under severe economic strain, the rioting raised new questions about the political sustainability of the Cameron governmentÂ’s spending cuts, particularly the deep cutbacks in social programs. Not original but apt and damned funny: Religion of Pieces

Off topic, but the purveyers of hate are justifying the Wisconsin thuggaries at the State Fair as freedom of association and freedom of expression.

151 What Essex 150 said ... which is what my grandfather told me 25 years ago. "They're not British, and they don't want to be British, but Britain imported them"

153 Frickin' AP-Pravda reflects the talking points from our own scurrilous, demonizing, lying Leftist media by quoting a very ignorant and stupid <i>anarchist</i> protester:

"This is the uprising of the working class. We're redistributing the wealth," said Bryn Phillips, a 28-year-old self-described anarchist, as young people emerged from the store with chocolate bars and ice cream cones.

Phillips claimed rioters were motivated by distrust of the police, and drew a link between the rage on London's street and insurgent right-wing politics in the United States. <b>"In America you have the tea party, in England you've got this,"</b> he said.

What a fabulous display of totally twisted Leftist "thought". (I'm not sure these imbeciles can actually think.) Phillips can't even understand the basic correlation between opposing ideas, i.e. "redistributing the wealth" and the Tea Party's complete, indisputable opposition to it.

Good grief! AP/Pravda doesn't allow comments.

I was thinking more:

Geezers need excitement
If their lives don't provide it then
They might incite violence.
Common sense
Simple common sense.

155 I'm watching rioters in London looting a convenience store on CNN.  Am I racist for noticing that all the looters are black?  The rioters chased the CNN crew off.  They came back five hours later to the shop which was picked clean of everything.

158 ..'you can stop the attackers by removing the head or destroying the brain...I'll repeat that....by removing the head or destroying the brain.' I know it's from a movie, but I just bet that would work ...

======================

Immigrant youths living in ethnic slums.  Blacks and Muslims.  The result of an unchallenged tribal belief that "We are the only group that's worthwhile, and this place we immigrated to has an absolute obligation to provide what we need, as well as everything we want, while we (of course) have no corresponding obligation to adapt ourselves in any way to the society and customs of the country we've moved to.   Now we're going to show you how strong we've become on your dollar (or pound, or euro):  we DEMAND respect, we DEMAND cultural autonomy, and we DEMAND continued tribute from this host society we've chosen to parasitize.  Ha ha ha."
