We were looking at +3 in the Senate for 2010 in November 2009-Connecticut, North Dakota, and Arkansas.

Connecticut dropped out of play, Illinois into play with Kirk, Delaware into play with Castle, Indiana into play with Coats in and Bayh out, Pennsylvania in with Snarlin' hated then bounced, Wisconsin came into play, Delaware dropped out with O'Donnell, and we wound up +6.

Lots of shit can still happen if the right people actually volunteer in certain places.

Hard to predict at this moment what will happen to Sherrod Brown in Ohio.  Yes, he is a stuttering clusterfoxtrot of a miserable failure, but then again, the Republican Party will likely be in massive disarray after the upcoming election.

SB5 (Issue 2) will likely go down to defeat, which will hamstring John Kasich greatly.  The AFL-CIO in particular has chosen this as a battleground and has literally put millions of dollars into the campaign to defeat Issue 2. The most recent commercial has the decrepit John Glenn weighing in on the matter, urging defeat of Issue 2.

So after Issue 2 likely goes down, the State Republican Party will likely be fighting as to who was to blame for this. Which means a less than unified effort to beat Brown in 2012. If Issue 3 passes though, there could be some rationalizing about this and a sense of victory. Issue 3 is a direct State constitutional slap at ObamaCare.

Brown himself is a sub-mediocre fool and a bum. But then, that is typical of the political class these days.

Well, Politico seems to be an arm of the administration, so that's not much of a stretch.

I don't know if it was so much targeted at Cain as just throwing a grenade into the whole GOP primary.  It certainly had the beneficial (for Obama) effect of spreading shrapnel throughout the field and upsetting the GOP voters.

There's truth in both of those statements - the Obama team is probably (Hand of Rahm?) behind this stuff with Cain, even if they're not particularly scared of him.  Were the election to end up black-on-black, Obama likely wins the AA demographic, because he is not a republican.  His team has a chance to narrow the field with these allegations, or (jackpot!) wing the eventual nominee enough to put him on the defensive.  Either outcome is a positive - if Cain loses quick, it's one less person to do oppo research on, and have to respond to.  If he wins, you've already opened a wound.  They might be holding back the best stuff in case of that eventuality, hoping that the purity brigade does their job for them, but just in case...

Her challlenger, Pete Hoekstra, is a long term MI politician with 18 years in the House, from the conservative west side of the state and is raising money and getting a lot of support. He has an uphill battle and with the right coat-tails he will give Stabenow a run for her money.

Which way will it go? It very strongly depends on the Republican presidential candidate. A strong one who can carry the indies and the Reagan Dems will sweep Pete in.
