— Ace Cantor had previously described Obama as "in over his head."
He offers a fuller outline of Obama's serious intellectual deficiencies to NRO.
Obama seems to think about issues on the level of babytalk.
He’s overly sensitive to someone differing with him on policy grounds,” Cantor says. And he’s isn’t persuasive. “There’s never any sort of economic argument that he can make for his position. It always reverts to that social-justice end,” Cantor argues.
Not that Obama uses the phrase “social justice.” “It’s ‘fairness.’”
What’s more, Obama’s prickliness is “directly opposite” Cantor’s experience with Vice President Joe Biden: “I had almost seven weeks with the vice president, and those talks were substantive. He and I spoke weekly. Our staffs met daily. The agenda was set. Our staffs had done the initial ‘tolerance test’ as to probing how far either side could go on a particular issue. And if it was too far, we tried to stay away from it.”
By contrast, Cantor believes the president’s ideological mindset is impenetrable: “This guy just doesn’t get it.”
"Fairness" is an emotional response, particularly when there is no supporting concrete evidence offered to explain why one position is fair and one isn't. It's just a gut thing, which is fine for a disengaged voter in deciding for whom to vote for President, but the actual policy wonk in chief is supposed to have a stronger grasp of the details of the problem beyond "fairness."
Does the supposed intellectual not think in terms of numbers and abstractions?

Furthermore, "fairness" is subjective and the notion of what is "fair" depends a bit on the whims and mood of the person defining what is "fair" at any given moment.

Why is everyone so afraid to admit the obvious. Obama is a radical leftwinger. Fairness = tax rape and economic destruction. That's fair, you see.

No. Next question.
That's true of supposed intellectuals in general. The theory is the beautiful thing, reality must bend to theory. The actual real world implications are irrelevant.
Also note that "fairness" is a one way street. I will once again haul out my rant about how it'll be "fair" to take money from me to give to someone else once I'm given back every party I didn't attend, every drink I didn't drink, every drug I didn't take, every person I didn't screw, every Friday/Saturday/Sunday night I spend studying rather than partying, every pair of shoes I didn't buy, etc. etc. ad infinitum ad nauseum. Somehow the sacrifices I made to now be able to eke out a modest living just don't count when considering what's "fair".

Resorting to the "that's not fair!!!" line is what you hear on a playground at recess.
Guess what.
Life's not fair.
Deal with it.
Let's talk about what's true, right, good and beautiful. Let's talk about what's prudent, just, and providential.
Fairness is a term that has a hint of "what I want is right, what I want is good, what I think is true because I think it, and that's what makes it fair."

GIBSON: All right. You have, however, said you would favor an increase in the capital gains tax. As a matter of fact, you said on CNBC, and I quote, "I certainly would not go above what existed under Bill Clinton," which was 28 percent. It's now 15 percent. That's almost a doubling, if you went to 28 percent. But actually, Bill Clinton, in 1997, signed legislation that dropped the capital gains tax to 20 percent.
OBAMA: Right.
GIBSON: And George Bush has taken it down to 15 percent.
OBAMA: Right.
GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down. So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?
OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I've said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.

Cantor is the one over his head. I have seen many, many people who believe that others can be reasoned with, share the same values, are rational. These people are dolts, naive, stupid, hopeless.
Anyone who has tried to reason with a four year old realizes none of the above is true and only a fool will try to reason with a four year old.
Cantor doesn't realize what he is dealing with nor how to handle a type such as Obama. On the other hand Obama realizes he is dealing with morons and his winning his points and agenda.
Why does anyone treat Obama other than you would if you were facing Chavez, Stalin, Castro, Hitler or Che across the table from you? This is why the GOP is filled with lots of critters who believe if only you treat the other fellow reasonably he will return the favor.
These types inhabit State and the CIA.

The final deal is not everything that I wanted, nor is it a cure-all for our massive debt problems, but it's a small start that will reduce the deficit by at least $2.1 trillion and allow for a vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.
To put the debt ceiling deal in perspective, the Paul Ryan Budget would have cut $4 trillion from the deficit over 10 years. So the deal that we worked out, achieved 50% of the cuts that the Ryan Budget plan would have secured - and we still aren't done cutting!"

Because you cannot endow the weak with the skills and determination of the strong, the weak can never artificially be made strong. So, to create "fairness" you must then weaken the strong to be equal with the weak.
However, by hamstringing the strong, you handicap society's creators. This in turn provides less opportunity to the weak and is thus not "fair" to them.
Life is not, never has been and never will be fair. Ask the 99% of all species which have ever lived but are now extinct about fairness. Any government program which imposes a state upon nature which nature never intended will always eventually fail and cause suffering not just for the weak, but for everyone.

Remember Jonathan Haidt? His work demonstrates why the leftist obsession with "fairness" (despite an inability to define it). It comes down to moral adolescence, which is the behavioral root of this entire mess. In fact, the whole thing is inverted from the way we think of it: those who suffer from moral adolescence gravitate to leftist ideology precisely because that ideology exploits the unbalanced obsession with two of the five intuitive ethics driving human social behavior - one of those being "fairness" (the other being "harm/care", i.e., providing everyone with cradle-to-grave subsistence).

| that social-justice end,” Cantor argues."
"Fairness" is an emotional response, particularly when there is no supporting concrete evidence offered to explain why one position is fair and one isn't. It's just a gut thing, ...
{-- quoting Ace}
Adding up past reports, it looks like the Social Justice / "Fariness" is The Only Card JEF has. And it looks like this is really the only card JEF has ever had,and that he is incapable of understanding anything more complex, or even of growing up.
This is a major point for 2012 ... we need adults running the country, not pre-tween children.
We need someone who has the intellectual capacity to understand basic economic arguments ... actually, just basic arguments on any topic, then understand the responses and recommendations of experienced, successful men, and then act accordingly.
"Fairness", beyond ensuring that no one's existing, publicly defined and known, rights are trampled upon, is not relevant.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Unemployment remains stubbornly high at just over 9 percent, but it's the alarming number of long-term jobless that is causing fresh concern for Democratic lawmakers.
But while Democrats, labor unions and even business groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have called on the government to invest more money to stimulate job growth, Republicans intent on cutting federal spending have resisted such calls.
Democrats say there's is a growing urgency to the problem of persistent long-term unemployment, as people out of work are less likely to find a job the longer they are unemployed. Among those unemployed for longer than one year, only 8.7 percent were able to find work, according to recent 12-month statistics from the Bureau of Labor statistics.
Translation: The Democrats are saints. The Republicans want you dead. And how noble of Democrats and unions for wanting more government spending

What if Republicans bought off Unions, almost all of them are just in it for the money. Higher percentages of union members vote Republican then all other democrat constituencies. Imagine! The democrat party would be done and empty... just radical Marxists and any minorities who still believe their BS.
Whatever the cost of the union inefficiency it surely cant add up to the total cost of democrat policy. And besides imagine having the teachers and the already socially, military, semi-fiscal union conservative working class on our side?
Imagine! Besides I really doubt we can this. Unions are all the muscle and money and numbers who just straight run democrat operations. We don't have to buy off every union group, just the more moderate ones the leftardia jenga coalition collapses.

It has everything to do with the spirit of the deal. The US and EU have the same basic problem in that whatever other lesser problems they had, they responded by massive government interventions that were always destined to fail spectacularly (US deficit spending is in fact such an intervention, its just been going on so long a lot of people fooled themselves into thinking it could continue)
In the "how bad is this" column, here the newest urgent advice from ZH:
We are very concerned we may see another Flash Crash, or Crash Crash as it would be better known assuming there is no imminent bounce back. As such we urge readers to immediately put limit buy prices across the entire S&P that are 19.99% down, as down 20% is the magical border below which the exchanges cancel all trades

He had 'substantive talks' with a dem policitian who refers to Tea Party conservatives as "terrorists".
I don't think that shit passes the 'tolerance test'.
