I don't know if I should say "Duh" or praise them for noting a trend.

Anyway, they do note it. And not in a scary, what-have-we-become way.

To those who say guns are masculine, Ellanson says, "It would depend on how you define femininity. I think a capable woman is the most feminine expression of power that there is."
So women shooters could be "girly girls"?
"Very much so," Ellanson replied.

Actually, re-reading it, it's pretty pro-gun. I imagine that's because Women's Choices Must Always Be Supported, Because, That's Why, and not because CBS is now big on the 2nd Amendment.

4 If Conservatives were at all clever they would have exploited this obvious angle a long long time ago. Occasionally you'll see 2nd amend peeps raod signs/forum sigs/ etc.. saying something about a 120 pound women and a 300 pound criminal etc.. as justifying gun access, but it was never properly assembled and pushed.

Women have been shooters from day one. Anyone heard of Annie Oakley? This is just them putting a liberal cover over the fact that Obumbles is the gun salesman of the year by trying to make out that women are just recently attracted to guns for "unknown" reasons. Yeah. Sure.

14 Sometimes it blows my mind how much this issue has shifted in the last few years. What caused such a sea change? I have my theories... but pendulums are known for their ability to cut both ways... if we don't understand what happened now, we wont know what to do when the pendulum turns against us again.

24 Posted before--wife & I signed up for shooting class, filled out FOID forms. We talked to one of the instructors (a girl) and she was nice as hell.

There were quite a few girls there buying guns. One couple was going through the Glock case looking for something for her.

Oh, and the range had a 45 minute wait. Something about people bringing their Christmas gifts of firearms in to squeeze off a few rounds.

I have pretty much settled on a Taurus 47-7 G3 compact--most likely the 9mm.

Not only did she express a desire to go shootin', in other conversations with her, I detected a distinct conservative bent. I didn't tell her. Don't want to scare her off. I've known her for the better part of a decade now and she's finally making the leap. It warms my heart probably as much as it chills those of her Bostonian liberal parents.

70 My niece is learning to shoot, she has been asking for the last 3 months and her mother finally said yes. Of course her mother is a big lib and changed her mind as soon as I started making moves toward teaching my niece to shoot. She is learning anyway, so far she has managed to hit the target sheet about 1/3 of the time at about 50 feet. Next monday she shoots again and I hope to see some improvement in marksmanship.

If not, at least we have a lot of .22 laying around.

Best part is, my sister-in-law wants to go for her first time as well, so I'm taking her on Friday. Life is good.
