Sometimes I think so, too. What with the awful economy and the 17% UE and shit.
But then I look at the GOP contenders and think none of them are ready for prime time. Obama is a formidable campaigner. Our guys? Nope.

Or maybe it has something to do with the influence of tough leaders like Nancy Pelosi who said Obamacare was a jobs bill because:
“Think of an economy where people could be an artist or a photographer or a writer without worrying about keeping their day job in order to have health insurance.”
Thank goodness we have Obamacare now so we can compete with the Chinese at photography.

I've been pondering something for a while.
Obama could lock in reelection today if he did three easy things.
1. Lower taxes across the board...just a little.
2. Cut spending across the board...just a little.
But he won't. Why? Because he's smarter than everyone else and he's damned sure his way will work. His plan is quite simple: Impose as much socialism up to the point where it jeopardizes his reelection.

I think it would take more than that- it's going to take more than a small tax and spending cut to dig the country out of the hole that Obama has dug.
Besides, to a Dem like Obama a "spending cut" is the same as increasing spending slightly less than he originally wanted.

He's not a problem-solver. His education is that of the social "scientist".
The following is the social scientific method:
(1) Develop a hypothesis that conforms to your beliefs and prejudices.
(2) Collect data you expect to reinforce that hypothesis.
(3) Test the data against the hypothesis.
(4) If the data contradicts the hypothesis, then the data is flawed and go to (2).
Repeat as needed.

The beauty of our system is that each seat is independently elected. Therefore, the candidates for those House, Senate, statehouse, Governor, etc. seats will be running away from Obama as fast as they can.
You're going to see plenty of anti-Obama ads from Democrats. Not everywhere, of course, but expect, say, an anti-Obama ad from a Nebraska Democrat to get national play.
They have a real problem because blacks are simply not abandoning Obama and the Dems really need them to be disillusioned with him in order to jettison him.

He just doesn't have POTUS nominee fortitude -- and I think he accepted this and that's why he dropped out so early.

"Obama is a formidable campaigner."
Is he really, though? Formidable? An obsessive campaigner, yes. But how hard did he really have to campaign in '08? How stiff was the challenge? And how much heavy lifting did the press do for him, so he could lean back and look reflective and calm? He's campaigning right now, and what's that doing for him? His formidable skills can't budge the opinion meter one tick upward. I don't think he's that great a campaigner, unless we restrict that term to mean money shakedowns, and I don't think that is going to be that memorable this time around, either.
