Mother Jones has a piece up now about how the protesters are the ones instigating the violence.

45 "Banksters" is being used a lot because the excess application of leverage is the basic problem we're dealing with. I don't think bankers meant to ruin our country (at least not the ones I've spoken to) but the truth always was that there are only so many investments at any given time that have the potential to pan out and if you have more money chasing interest than those options are going to allow you wind up with the proliferation of bad lending we've seen in mortgages, student loans, and credit cards (not to mention those folks who will literally send me a check for some thousands of dollars in the mail and ask me to cash it so I can then start paying them interest).

Obviously there's blame enough to go around to the crack dealer and the crack smoker. My biggest problem with the OWS protesters is their obsession with the personal side of the issue ('damn that bank for loaning me money') rather than the systemic problem.

Maybe head back to school, and this time try to learn something useful? Or just stay out there, as I suspect the world is teaching a lesson that you've missed until now... enjoy learning about dying.

And although I don't know, I suspect some of George Washington's troops died in the winter in the northeast... how many of you are willing to die for... whatever it is you're protesting for (do you even know what it is yet)?

It's got to be hard to ask for everyone to accept that 3-5% of their numbers will die for a cause to be named later... I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be feeling happy about that plan.
