Chris Christie Releases Campaign Commercial For Job He Already Has
— Ace

Interesting, but I think it's just because his approval ratings are declining lately.

To keep the whip-hand he needs a certain amount of public support. If it starts to fall, he needs to goose it back up. Talking up "I'm against partisan nonsense and for real change and real results" always goes down well.

2 Chris Christie is clever. Pity we can't clone him and send him to California.

May I suggest a small little war?

4 He wouldn't live in California. He's smarter than that.

Posted by: Milo at June 24, 2011 06:46 PM (3GLzu)

5 There are billboards all up and down the turnpike proclaiming what a creep Christie is and how he doesnt care about schools and the children but only fat-cat millionaires.  How he is in the pocket of corporations.  Of course, these billboards and commercials are all paid for by the teacher's union, and now the other public sector employee unions.  I'm sure they are getting national union money too, they have to put a stake in Christies heart and kill him before other state executives figure out you can defeat the unions.  They are terrified of him, they need to destroy him.  I don't think he is running for President, I think he just isn't eating all their crap without rebuttal like Bush did.  I think all repubs could learn a lesson from him on this.

6 Oh, Ace? If you still have my email from the days when I was the only person reading your blog who was employed enough to send you a bit of cash here and there, let me know via said email if you're going to be doing a bleg sometime this summer, and I'll budget you in. I'm a little pressed.

13 In what sense, financially and legally, are public sector unions any different from corporations? They often direct the portion of members' dues for political action to races outside of the local members' immediate interest (i.e., outsourcing). They collaborate with other unions to have their concerns addressed by political weasels (i.e. lobbying). I could probably list others, but I'm beat and am turning in. Bottom line for me vis-a-vis public sector unions versus corporations: two peas from the same pod, with each claiming moral superiority over the other with little or no basis to support the assertion.

That union going to give you a job or will it be the corporation?   Quit whining about corporations and go to bed.

16 Meh. he blew it.

You are either dedicated to public service or not.  The whole "I need to be a good governor for NJ, therefore I can't be bothered to run for president" thing is bullshit.

You're either in, or you're out.  Don't be fucking around.

Just say it:  "I won't run for president because I don't want the responsibility."

I mean, seriously, if you had a shot at president, like fatty does, wouldn't you take it?  He's not taking it for a reason, and whatever reason that is makes him unelectable.

18 I actually like seeing the attack billboards during my drive-time. The more vicious they get, the more he's giving them apoplexy. He's scaring them as bad as Palin.

Posted by: Milo at June 24, 2011 07:34 PM (3GLzu)

19 I still like Perry over Christie but Christie certainly has earned the right to toot his own horn a bit and take a victory lap. I like how he slammed both sides in DC because it is true.

About the only thing they ever agree on in DC is what to spend more money on, or pass new laws and regulations to make a larger criminal class out of us all.

My bad.  I forgot to add:

You'll be replacing the biggest pussy the idiot electorate has ever foisted on our nation, so if you can manage it, you should actually have not 2, but 3 giant brass balls loaded onto the USS Ronald Reagan, since that's the only ship qualified to carry the cajones required to un-fuck our nation.

21 We need more of both of them. Whether they run for President or not. they keep the DNC guessing and spending money, fighting windmills that may or may not run. Consider it a burr under the donkey's saddle.

Posted by: Milo at June 24, 2011 07:40 PM (3GLzu)

22 and for you navy guys:  by "ship" I meant "boat."

Personally, I prefer the approach where you ride the donkey into town and shoot all the assholes.

Guess I'm old-school.

Posted by: tangonine at June 24, 2011 07:44 PM (x3YFz)

24 and no, Ace, i'm not off to shoot anyone.  I know you have cop trouble and I'm not advocating the shooting of any assholes.

Disclaimer:  Neither I, nor Ace advocate shooting of an asshole.

25 @tangonine Navy guy says, surface ships are just that. Subs are boats... I can't find another thing wrong with the post. I would like to see what effect one of those brass balls, loaded into the new rail gun would look like, unloaded into say - Pakistan, or the White House. I have no preference.

26 Just my .02 your mileage may vary. Then again, I want to run for president on the fishbowl ticket.

The wife works for a company filled with prior submariners, and she comes home and rambles on about what's a ship and what's a boat.  I pretend to care, but since I'm Air Force I really don't give a crap... but I do make a paper-thin effort.

Just mark the gdm target and tell me where to put the JDAM.

35 blogLexie and Alex even chimed in, and they were particularly horrible. The unintentional comedy meter was broken during this episode.blog I donÂ’t watch Glee, but IÂ’ve seen Famebefore. Singing works, when thatÂ’s the point of the show. Singing works when your characters areÂ…singers? blogI donÂ’t think singing works when your characters are doctors. Moreover, with the exception of actor Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt), none of them have a voice that should be heard outside of a shower! blogThere are some actors in the dvd box sets who can actually sing (i.e. Jamie Foxx) and some who can carry a little tune (i.e. Gwyneth Paltrow), but for the most part the cast of GreyÂ’s Anatomyshould stick to what they do best.blog

I have seen a summary of the bill in question.  It mandates that the State make actuarially appropriate contributions to the pension fund.  Failure to make these contractual payments over several years is what has caused the pension crisis in the first place.  Christie failed to do it last year.

As someone who pays at least some attention to events in N.J. let me remind you that Christie is a politician.  Don't get too high on him.  The reality of him might disappoint you.

38 actually, the point I was making is that it is only obvious to the people here. I just had to tell my friend not to fill up her car until later in the week, to just put in enough gas to tide her over since gas prices have to come down since oil is going down. She literally had no idea.
