— Ace Two big things in this Verum Serum post, and I can only steal one.
The June issue of the Journal of Health Policy, Politics, and Law weighs in on whether the public option of ObamaCare is a Trojan Horse designed to destroy the private health care in favor of a Britain-style single (government) payer system.
You'll have to click over to find out where these authors come down.
But below is a brilliant video from Verum Serum on this issue.
You been had. Bamboozled. Run amok.

Of course it was. I'm even less sanguine about the USSC overturning the mandate. They might well leave the rest of it intact, and destroy private health insurance entirely.

Posted by: sauropod at September 22, 2011 04:32 PM (GPm6P)
Its a movie from the 90's. Some sort of a "monster/creature" action movie. I only remember seeing part of it, and Mark Hamill is in it but I don't remember what capacity. A guy gets some "organic" powersuit or something to fight the bad creatures. I even think there was a sequel.

Not to my knowledge, no. He occasionally drops in to share his brilliantly reasoned and legally sound theories about how Marco Rubio is ineligible to be Vice-President because, according to the definition used by some 18th-century Swiss political theorist, he is not a Natural Born Citizen.

His follow-through on Marco Rubio was just a way of maintaining, in his mind, his intellectual honesty: "see, neither Obama NOR Rubio can be Prez/V-P!"
And I always assumed "progressoverpeace" was a he not a she. Because it takes a man to be *that* atomically dense.

I worry that people are reading the "writing on the wall." That's why I think this debate is so big for Perry -- he needs to turn around perceptions of him as intellectually and rhetorically unfit for the job, ASIDE from these policy differences (which I think are really rather secondary...although the pay-to-play stuff I saw in Jen Rubin's blog the other day worried me a bit). I mean, McCotter clearly has little love for Romney based on his rhetoric earlier in the campaign (though it's possible some of that was just for show, to heighten differences btw. the two), but one gets the sense that he isn't very impressed by Perry, or else he would have endorsed him, no?
Speaking of which...what's going to happen if/when Scott Walker endorses Romney, as I'm now hearing whispers out of Madison might actually happen? Will the Hero of the Labor Wars suddenly be labelled a sellout RINO traitor too? That's the problem I have with that sort of rhetoric. A lot of junior Robespierres running around in the Tea Party/TrueCon movement, waiting to drop the guillotine on everyone for the simple pleasure of exercising the satisfying power of ostracism.

I'vealso noticed except for debt-ridden Pawlenty it's Govs backing Perry and DC guys backing Romney. Walker endorsing Romney would be big as Wisconsin's last GOP primary poll had Perry leading there. "McCotter appears to be making a pragmatic decision in backing Romney. He’s been very critical of the former Massachusetts governor in the past — issuing a press release in July upon Romney’s visit to the state that “our struggling families, entrepreneurs and workers can’t afford policies that make Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama less than rivals, and more like running mates.” But with his own re-election campaign now ahead of him, McCotter’s linking up to a presidential candidate who’s popular in the state, and who’s the son of a former governor."

No.
Really, no.
That's not what is behind these endorsements. That's not the way politicians think. I'm 100% certain it has to do with considerations of electability, and also perhaps you can't rule out the old "cool appointment" thing too. But an endorsement based on the (weird, random) idea that Romney would...um, what, preserve Congressional benefits and Perry would not? I seriously doubt that's on anyone's mind.

The Cheney/Edwards debate was some of the biggest political entertainment of that entire election season (Rathergate topped it, though). Cheney was like a friggin' python slowly choking its prey to death. I seriously expected him to methodically dislodge his lower jaw and swallow Edwards' corpse whole by the end of it.

All anyone had to do was notice the bamboozling began in the Stimulus Bill, that's right you can trace it back to its inception there. That is where Daschle was allowed to slip in the foundation of the building blocks.
_________________
New Penalties
Hospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new system will face penalties. “Meaningful user” isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose “more stringent measures of meaningful use over time” (511, 518, 540-541)
What penalties will deter your doctor from going beyond the electronically delivered protocols when your condition is atypical or you need an experimental treatment? The vagueness is intentional. In his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make the “tough” decisions elected politicians won’t make.
The stimulus bill does that, and calls it the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal, Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept “hopeless diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments,” and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system"
________________________________
Now you know why he was nominated for HHS, too bad being a tax cheat didn't keep his finger out, eh? Search for the article, "Ruin your health with the Obama Stimulus Plan" by Betsy McCaughey, Feb. 09, 2009. Now you know why some cancer drugs and medications are now going defunct and out of reach already...because you silly Americans expect too much from the health care system.
