— Purple Avenger Wholesale prices are heading up.
...Shoes, clothes, tires, plastics and other products all cost more at the wholesale level last month, putting pressure on businesses to pass the increases along to their customers...See, its just "pressure" at the moment, kinda like a zit starting to form. Being patriotic and all, those businesses will of course try to resist that pressure as long as possible, take profit hits, maybe even run losses or go bankrupt as part of their national obligation, right? They just need to cowboy up and embrace the vise like squeeze of higher taxes and higher costs. This is the new normal....Drug prices rose 1.4 percent, the most in almost three years. Prices rose for products throughout the economy...

Ben Bernanke = Rudolf Von Havenstein, mad money printer of the Weimar Republic. He monetized a lot of German debt in WWI. They thought he was a genius, calling him "der Geld Marschall" (money field marshall), sort of like they called Greenspan the Maestro and now sing Helicopter Ben's praises. He was great until the hyperinflation hit.

My understanding is that the businesses have been trying not to pass the rising costs on for a year now and it is reaching the point where they can't do anything else but raise prices.
Not to mention the fact that "global warming" destroyed produce crops so vegetables will now cost more than an ounce of gold.

Well, the cure for inflation is to raise interest rates, like the prime rate. That what Uncle Paul Volker taught us that one in the '70's.
Oops! That huge debt overhang with that monster debt service will just get a lot bigger if the prime goes up.
I wonder if Barry O! thought of that? Naaaaaah.
Gawd, the childish inumerancy of these people is appalling. We become more like Argentina every day.

You know, I really treasure the memories of the days when I was in the auto retail business, and was able to get my best customers auto loans at a low, low 19.9% APR. I get goosbumps remembering the joy they often expressed...especially when they discovered a used car loan would start @ 25% - or more.
Yeah, those were the days. You know, I could get up to 9% or so returns on investments, too. Almost covered the 13.9% I paid on my home loan.

I've spent a lot of my time with the Yahoo Finance crew. One of the main discussions was always watching what looked like blatant manipulation, having someone on the board notify the SEC in writing, via email, on the phone, by fax, even once by all of these methods and by courier. To no avail. So I find this particularly funny. LINK

Canada's also going to suck when the crap hits the fan. I'm already planning on leaving both countries and getting citizenship elsewhere.
I'm not thrilled about giving up US citizenship, but I can't predict how confiscatory the US government will get, even with Americans living abroad. I believe I'm safest to sever all ties now and have papers showing I'm not American when the government gets really grabby. They can keep (and have already spent) what I've already paid into Social Security.
We live in interesting times. Sadly. Good night everyone.

Zerohedge has been on this story since B4 Xmas. CPI is crap. Last year USD on FX lost 3%.
Reported as growth.
Somewhere along 2005 Office of Truth added home prices to CPI. Well they've been diving, for a while. Last year took a full point off CPI was 1.9% shoulda been 3%.
Reported as growth.
Back-of-the-envelope calc yields 6% inflation last year.
China has had 5% inflation of food stuffs-in the last 10 days! Odd, they just reported inflation of 4.9% short of expected 5.4%.
Our Office of Truth isn't quite in their league but we persist.

What I don't understand is how she could have been right and a blogger could have been wrong?? I didn't think bloggers were ever wrong. I thought they could predict determine the future? I mean they make these pronouncements about what will be and what will not be and who is and who is not electable.
I'm so disillusioned. I mean, what can we do? Gov. Chistie says he knows how to fix it, but he's not going to step up and actually do anything about it. The bag man for Eli Lilley also says he's knows how to fix it. But he won't say that he's willing to step up and actually try.
Palin also says she knows how to fix it and is willing to try; but the bloggers say she's unelectable. So, she's out.
So let it be blogged; so let it be done.

Or, they are keeping people who are incompetent but handicapped to avoid a lawsuit, or keeping someone who is related to the VP and whose citizenship they have sponsored, the contract for that which probably includes a can't fire timeline that meant others had to get laid off instead.
Yes I'm still pissed about it.
