— Ace We were assured there was no problem with gay marriage on the state level, because we had DOMA to thwart lawsuits to force it on to unwilling states.
“My own belief is that when two people love each other and enter the contract of marriage, the Federal government should honor that.I opposed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. It was the wrong law then; it is the wrong law now; and it should be repealed.”
As usual, marriage is being redefined from a manner of producing stability in families and therefore creating and caring for children to a Valentine's Day sort of romantic/sexual "love."
Marriage is now just a Federal Certificate of Goin' Steady.
Odd that we never before needed a government sanction for Goin' Steady before.
Just recently we were informed by McClatchy newspapers that a "new, crafty" type of leadership had been invented by Obama -- not leading.
Isn't it funny that Obama is capable of the Old and Busted style of leadership (where you, you know, lead) on issues he cares about?
Why no "new, crafty" style of leadership on gay issues?
But: You bitter clingers should know Obama's still on your side, sort of. He's still "grappling" with the issue.
Spokesman Jay Carney said Obama has always opposed the Defense of Marriage Act as "unnecessary and unfair." But Carney said there's no change to how Obama views gay marriage itself.
He's not sure if gays should have the right to get married, but he's certain that it's "unnecessary and unfair" to deny them marriage.
What? Doesn't that mean he's actually decided?
No, no, no. He's still "grappling." Because his pollsters told him to say that.
See, he's conflicted and open-minded, just like you. Except he's acting like a determined ideologue. But inside he's all confused and "grappling." And that's what's important. Or something.

I never thought so, but apparently homosexuals are so mentally ill that they need the theoretical existence of same-sex marriage (very few people actually take advantage of it when available and a tiny fraction are couples who are both under 50).
Like I said, I never believed it before, but I'm being told that this is super-essential because of discrimination or something, but not for any public policy benefit.
I used to think that homosexuality was a genuine expression of a genuine sexual desire. But if it were, that would cause problems with cohabitation in the military for the same reasons that bunking men with women would cause. But I guess it isn't a sexual desire, it must be some sort of kink or casual perversion that can be easily suppressed and ignored.
I will fight against the tide that homosexuals are somehow weirdos who need to have their heads patted and told that we really really really really like them but I guess our betters have spoken.

When Scientists Attack
Â… or Â…
Winning The Future: Spotted Owl Edition
NothingÂ’s worked. Not the clamp on federal timber sales that hammered OregonÂ’s mill towns. Not the lawsuits or the listing as an endangered species. The belated work to retain and restore its favored old-growth habitat will take decades to unfold. Twenty plus years of trying to save the northern spotted owl and itÂ’s still slipping away.
Come summer, federal wildlife officials expect to finish a draft environmental impact statement that most likely recommends taking to the woods with shotguns. Over the next year, in three or more study areas from Washington to northern California, they might kill 1,200 to 1,500 barred owls — the larger, more aggressive competitor that has routed spotted owls from much of their territory and become, along with habitat loss, the biggest threat to their survival.
Twenty years later … and not even a “sorry about that”

Marriage is pretty much defined in the bible, which most conservatives and Americans believe in. If you want same sex unions, fight for that. No one really cares. Stop trying to hijack the sanctity of MARRIAGE and go for your own gay union. The reason you catch so much flack for your ranting and demanding is because a majority of Americans DO NOT AGREE WITH YOU and think that homosexuality is wrong. GET OVER IT.....You will never be in the majority, especially when we're all Moose lambs.
You and your 'gay rights' group picked the wrong topic to bludgeon. Besides.....didn't the first gay couple to marry come to Texas and demand a divorce? Worked out well, I see.......

Troll Foo Rating 3 of 10.
I'll make it real simple for your libby mind. Government has only one enduring interest in personal relationships, those that yield offspring. That's the way it has been all the way back to Ancient Greece, where homosexuality was common. Keep a permanent homo-sexual partner sure! Marry them? Why? Marriage exists as a state of social obligation of procreating couples. It exists for no other reason. There are all sorts of different wonderful human relationships that are not covered by marriage. Nor should they be. They carry no social obligation, nor moral imperative; and should fall outside of government meddling and incentives.

I used to have a friend that had endocrinal problems his whole life, some of them life threatening. He moved away, and I bought his house here in this town. Made payments to him once a month, for years so I started noticing that he was "changing."
Last time I seen him, he was a bonified Post-op tranny. He said that since his operation, he felt better than he had in his entire life. Funny thing was, the guy was only attracted to lesbians. He loved to watch female body builders and would remark about how sexy they were. (I thought they were disgusting. They replaced their tits with pects. )
Anyway, he honest to God had a sex change operation so he could be a Lesbian.

Not really.
Think about this: Where in the bible does it say how to conduct a wedding?
Marriage is everywhere in every culture. It's a natural consequence of the human condition. It's binary because of the binary sexes. It's necessary because of the way the next generation comes about.
We don't have marriage so that women (or men) can wear a dress one day in their life so that they can feel pretty.

I don't like this either, but some perspective please.
We have decoupled sex from marriage and procreation through widespread cohabitation, birth control, and cultural changes. An enormous number of children are conceived out of wedlock. No-fault divorce has turned marriage into a looser, emotional commitment between two people than a strong religious and social commitment between two people.
Gay marriage matters to some degree I would think, but so much less than everything else above. The fact that gay marriage is the so talked about says volumes about the priorities of the country and (sadly) the priorities of social conservatives in general.

Spotted owl goes extinct from natural causes and is replaced with a robust, not so picky owl, such as the Barred who doesn't give a sh*t where it nests, well fire up them chainsaws, and get that lumber industry back to work.
The Spotted owl has to be protected from natural evolution, even from a related Owl (Barred and Spotted can mate and have fertile offspring so they are almost the same species) not because the Owl is important, but because the cover the Owl provides to the political objective of destroying our industry.

Also, this may be an unpopular view (maybe not here), but the growing acceptance of homosexuality will lead to a higher prevalence of homosexuality. I think that a society of 15% gay people is not as socially desirable as a society of 5% gay people.
I don't think homosexuality should be made illegal or that gays should be treated poorly, but moral hierarchy has its place in general social values.

That would make sense if all heteros were bigots. We're not, simpleton. Do try to get out more and see how decent respectful, humane people actually live.
The dupe is back! Look, dupe, to quote another AOS moron: Marriage is for the purpose of children. That's the way it has been all the way back, even to Ancient Greece where homosexuality was common. You want to have a permanent homo-sexual partner? Fine. You can even draw up some kind of partnership contract with a lawyer.
But Marry them? Why? Marriage exists as a state of social obligation of procreating couples. It exists for no other reason. There are all sorts of different wonderful human relationships that are not covered by marriage. Nor should they be. They carry no social obligation, nor moral imperative; and should fall outside of government meddling and incentives.

That's the issue with the "gay agenda" ace. It exists, but its not actually some secret conspiracy fear-mongering of turning little boys gay or whatever. Its actually the Liberal Agenda, and utilization of the homosexual community is a path they think that can be exploited. It is to attack traditional institutions in this country, like the churches. Yeah yeah they are inserting legislation in or "they don't care about making churches performing the 'marriages'" so we're supposed to accept it as good enough and say fine. You know until someone decides to sue a church and a liberal judge goes along with it. And anyone want to bet that liberals wouldn't just Love to strip churches of tax exempt status making it harder for them to function and thus reduce their influence in society?
And I think now we can cue some people talking about how liberals were able to force churches out of running adoption agencies.

The majority of homosexuals before 1973 were not kept in asylums. Practically what it meant was that before 1973 psychologists could practice in a way that attempted to 'rid' the patient of homosexual desires. The aftermath of the change is that those who have 'pre-1973' beliefs on homosexuality are outside of the mainstream in the discipline, hence the creation of 'ex-gay' social and psychological groups.

If you are speaking of the Spartans that would be incorrect. I think Janet Morris' concept of "bonded pairs" is historically accurate. Though her's is based on Sacred Band of Thebes (BTW: Morris has a new Stepsons novel out for you Thieves' World Fans). Though to be fair not all of the Stepsons are paired homosexual lovers, many are comrades(your best friend goes to Iraq with you).

Like the political ad case back in 1992, churches will be allowed to be tax exempt only if they adhere to a "facially neutral" "commitment ceremony" policy.

Maybe so, but an angry horde of Queers showing up at the American Psychiatric Association in 1973 threatening to do bodily violence to the assembled Psychiatrists unless they removed Homosexuality from the list of Mental disorders, Might have something to do with it.

Not at the rapid rate it did in the early 80's...but yes. IIRC Four new novels in the last five years. Part of the beauty of "shared worlds" is that you own your character. Asprin was wanting to bring it back in the early oughts but sadly passed away before it could be. His ex-wife, Lynn Abbey, wrote "Sanctuary" as a single novel and there were two more anthologies: "Turning Points" and "Enemies of Fortune".
I had a hell of a good time with Asprin at a Star Trek Convention that was _way_ oversold. He was KDC and I was on leave and doing security for a child actor that was famous at the time. Wow, thirty years sure passes quick.

A friend of mine used to say that it was law of threesomes that one girl would always go down on the other, even if they were both straight.
I would imagine that it provides benefits for societies where men are in short supply. Polygamous marriages with one man and multiple women are less likely to involve drama if the women develop attachments to each other as well.
Conversely, homosexuality benefits the tribe by removing competition for mates while simultaneously creating tighter bonds between men in the community.

The SA was as gay as a 3 dollar bill. Nothing says feral brutality than a gang of homo's who get paid to drink and beat up other people. Sort of like today's gay movement. Oh yeah, they did have snappy uniforms. The homo issue of the SA was the big reason it was dumped and the SS was formed.

When I was in college, our Gay Lesbian Student Union had "wear blue jeans on Friday to support Gays and Lesbians on campus." We were all like--WTF--we're college students all we wear are blue jeans. People went out to the University Bookstore and bought sweatpants just so they could wear them on Fridays. The GLSU also had these signs all over campus "Gay still means happy". Could have fooled me. Almost all the lesbians I've worked with are mean, unpleasant butches with a big chip on their shoulders. (There are a lot of lesbonic nurses in the o.r.) When I was in college, our Gay Lesbian Student Union had "wear blue jeans on Friday to support Gays and Lesbians on campus." We were all like--WTF--we're college students all we wear are blue jeans. (There are a lot of lesbonic nurses in the o.r.) I love my gay male co-workers, however--so much more fun to work with, and they all have wonderful, self-deprecating senses of humor!

After they milk you for your cash they go home to the trailer and watch TV with the old man (if he is around) and the kids (they are always around). That is EXACTLY my point. I believe the incidence of male homosexuality is partly caused by genetic predisposition (too many female hormones in the body) in combination with environmental factors.
Let's face it, the vast MAJORITY of all sexual perverts are men. Probably because their biology drives them so desperately to reproduce. In the case of homosexuals, their impulses just get scrambled somehow. Males are far more susceptible to fetish than are females.

The big question following the Obama administration's announcement that it would not argue in support of the Defense of Marriage Act is whether Congress (or individual members of the House or Senate) would step in to defend the law themselves.
Lee Swislow, executive director of Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, thinks a member of Congress will get involved somehow.
"We expect there will be a defense coming from Congress," Swislow told TPM in a phone interview.
"We don't totally understand -- it's a process which isn't used very often," Swislow said. "We do know that a defense can come from either or both chambers -- that's pretty much the limit of my knowledge."
Former Bush-era Justice Department official Hans von Spakovsky wrote on the Heritage Foundation's blog that members of Congress "consistent with the law of standing, should seek to intervene in the case or file amicus briefs to assure that DOMA gets the vigorous defense that should be afforded to all federal statutes for which reasonable legal arguments may be offered - and which the President is refusing to provide."
BTW - I dare you to google image search "Lee Swislow". Go on.....

Homosexuality is about gender in many ways. One of the strongest predictors of homosexuality is gender non-conformity, particularly at a young age. Sometimes it is internalized and other times it is externalized.
People keep asking why sexuality is more fluid for women. Gender expression is more fluid for women. Women can take on many different roles in society with contradictory gender obligations. The switch from a male or female partner is not as drastic for women. Gender obligations for men are more rigid, but as gender roles become more fluid for men, sexuality will become more fluid for men.
I don't think this represents a societal advance, but this is probably more NPR blabber.

Posted by: AmishDude at February 23, 2011 06:03 PM (T0NGe)
It's absolutely about validation. MANY if not MOST male homosexuals are the victim of child molestation. I believe this results in a feeling of being "dirty" or "tainted", and the way many of their minds deal with it is to convince themselves that it's "Okay."
Eventually they convince themselves that there is nothing wrong with it at all, but they still have that nagging feeling that there is. As a result, they are constantly pushing for validation of their belief as a therapy for their original molestation.
In other words, validation is their chosen therapy.

Oh that's a load of shit. I believe California had civil unions on the books allowing their partners to be covered without calling marriage. That may be what some of them want, but then you're getting into the difference between what some want and the liberal agenda that is masquerading as gay rights.
I've said it before. The way to push this is for the elimination of marriage from the state. Have all unions under the law be referred to as Civil unions even if its between a man and a woman. By doing this it will eliminate the potential threat to churches and they will still have the word marriage to them. Also no one is really going to give a damn if you went and got a civil union and call your partner your husband or wife. Afterall its supposed to be about equality under the law as they say.
But I would be willing to bet that you'd have a lot more of the "intolerant bigotted dumb hicks" on board with this idea than you would the "tolerant loving of everyone just looking for equality gay rights supporters." Because its not really about equality.

Yeah I caught that after I went on my rampage. To me, this is his worst decision yet. Puts me into a blind rage.

The incidence of lesbianism among women with breast implants is 87%. That is based on my close examination of pornography in America.
See? My data are indicative!

The ABA dude who is doing the assessment on my kid for classes asked me my sexual orientation and if we owned any guns last night. Right in the middle of the questions. Like it was shoehorned in. Any employee of the state who asks for that information is not seeking information, they are building a future case. And I told him so. Little shitweasel.
I told the stupid fucker "You met my wife last time you were here. She lives here. That's a picture of us on our wedding day. What more do you need? We don't have a sex video."
Sexual orientation. They must be marking down all the remaining straight white married couples in California like fucking condors. Next they'll put a fuckin radio collar on us.
He didn't even ask the gun question again so he got no answer. Think he was all flustered.

initally DOMA pissed me off because I hate getting the Federal government (any of the branches) involved in entirely state matters. We have had a country divided by the wrongheaded anti-republican Roe v. Wade decision. Do we really want the Federal government invading another entirely state matter such as marriage because this cause fits our worldview. Republicans and social cons can't go silent on states rights, 10th amendment, and republicanism just because they want some specific outcome favorable to thier moral view.
But DOMA really is in support of states rights. With DOMA, the Federal government gave the states to right to follow thier own policies in regards to homosexual marriage. It was legislation that empowered states, not legislation that usurped state power and put in in the Fed's hands (as would be the case if SCOTUS ruled gay marriage was covered by a penumbra of rights eminating from the.....).
And then the other provision of DOMA just states what the Federal position on marriage should be for Federal considerations. I supposed I can't deny the Federal giverment the the authority to define marriage for the Federal system.
So in the end, I don't see DOMA as a threat to the republic, or hyppocritical to conservatives that advocate for less Federal authority on matters reserved to the states.
As this point, I see a President, acting unilaterally on his own to disregard a duly enacted law. The executive branch is supposed to enact and enforce the laws. It is not with the purview of the President to declare something unconstitutional. If he has that authority, then I have the authortiy to declare him unconstitutional for disregarding the rule of law and enforcing the law in a capricious manner.

423 Used to be that if you were being bullied, you could fight the bully and he'd back off. With zero-tolerance rules that kick in regardless of who is at fault, this is no longer an option; attack someone who's been making your life miserable and it is probable that you'll get suspended or expelled, and at the very least have a black mark on your record.
Bullshit. You can't be willing to throw down with some bully yet scared to death of your "permanant record." Which is a load of shit anyway. If you aren't arrested and convicted, it ain't on your permanant record.
You want to suspend me? Fuck you, next question.

Good gawd, you prissy little fops sure do come up with some of the most intolerant, accusatory language when your arguement fails.
You're the kind of "ConcernedFag" that screeches about "xenophobic, nazi bigots" then goes home to your Schutzstaffel uniform-wearing boyfriend. He makes you say "Ja wohl, Herr Reichsführer!!", as he does a round ”macht boomsen” on your ass. You secretly love "intolerant, hateful, xenophobic bigots". That's what gets you all "excited".
Don't forget the hamster.
