— Ace Yeah, I know, "You're fired." I didn't do it because I'm better than that, man!!!
(crying whisper) I'm better than that. Aren't I? Aren't I?
Anyway I don't have details but FoxNews and Reuters report Trump is out as far as moderating. Trump says he reserves the right to still run for President as an Independent.
So there's that, at least.
I guess this means that everyone will be back in for the December 27th debate.

Though I'd love to see someone like Jake Tapper do it. He may be a lefty, but he does have some integrity.

Yes.
If you're looking for "impartial" you'd have to find someone with no skin in the game. Since America is a Super Power, and has incredible influence (one way or another) with virtually every country on the planet, you'll have a hard time finding one of those.
What you need is a moderator who will rise above his or her partiality, and will strive for professionalism and skepticism towards all the debaters.

Meh.
Mike and I are "icky guncranks". I don't think Ace takes us seriously.
But I do appreciate the attention he has given the story.
Mike's blog is kind of hosed at the moment (I need to carve out the time to go help him with it) but there's some good speculation from his time in DC last week as to what's coming next in gunwalker.
Sensenbrenner's use of the I word was not an idle threat.
Posted by: Scott J at December 13, 2011 10:49 AM (KC2BE)
I keep thinking if he hangs in there long enough maybe Santorum will lead in the polls. Or Perry. Or ABO 2012. It won't really matter until after the primaries or GOP Convention (which should draft Rubio).
If Trump does run I hope he sees how popular he isn't. Egos will reign in any GOP third party run. The country and running SCOAMF out of DC is what should matter to all in 2012.

More evidence (as if it was necessary) that people need to get off the Perry train.
According to Pew, 44% of Republican primary voters say there is "no chance" they will vote for Perry (compared to 37% who say there's a chance). Romney is at 26% and Newt at 18%.
Newt leads 35-21 over Romney, Paul is at 8% and Perry at 5%.

How well must Perry do in Iowa to have a fighting chance?
I don't think the question is Iowa on New Hampshire for him. I think South Carolina will be a "come to Jesus" moment for Perry (pun intended.)
After that, you can probably start taking bets on Perry. But I wouldn't count him out before then.
Posted by: Dan Snyder's Aggrieved Fan Base at December 13, 2011 11:01 AM (sbV1u)
No way to tell, really. I'd like 3rd. I do think it's too late for him to "take" either IA or NH, but a solid showing in both would greatly improve his chances in FL and SC. Like the NASCAR race, if he can take 3rd for a while, it keeps him "in the hunt." He would need to break into the top two in both of SC and FL, though (I'd think). After that, if he's kept it close, Super Tuesday should go mostly in his favor.

Huntsman spoke better (smarter not harder) than Newt in their little tête-à -tête. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with Huntsman's thoughts. His diplomatic experience given China as the rising world power tops his fiscally conservative gubernatorial successful experience. His points were smarter than Newt's, better delivered and more succinct without being boorish. So thank God Newt can't tout being anything but the biggest bag of shit.
In varying degrees I'd rather vote for any of the non-Newt/Mitt candidates than either N-ingrich or M-omney.

Even though he was flirting with being in the republican primaries, he lost steam and people remembered what I joke he was. Will that stop Trump's ego - no way. He is arrogant enough to think that even he could not win the republican primaries he can win the general. All he will do is generate enough publicity to get the moron vote and all those GOP cry babies who did not get their choice for the nomination. Trump will pull enough votes (5-10%) that it will kill the deal for whoever we run against Obama.
Obama will win if Trump runs.
