65 Suppose that tomorrow Holder and Obama came out and had a joint news conference and said "We just want to tell all of you that both of us are committed Communists and that we intend to turn the United States into a Communist workers state."

Would there be any legal methods that could be used to stop them from doing what they want? Don't even say impeachment - the Donkeys control the senate and we all know they can't be convicted.

Lawyers among the morons, this is a serious question. Treason is narrowly defined in the constitution - I don't think that such a declaration - as abhorrent as it might be to the majority of Americans would rise to the level of the strict definition of treason.

Other than cutting off funding of federal agencies by the House, what could be done?

I try not to think about them.  Really, nobody's numbers matter that much at the moment, except as expectations.  We'll wait until after the caucuses (cauci?) and New Hampshire, and then see where we stand.

If Perry can put in a good finish in both (I'd like 3rd in Iowa, but if 4th is a statistical tie with 3rd, I think that would do.  Same in NH, really) that should staunch most of his bleeding going into SC and FL- where he should (I hope) be able to regain much-needed ground going into Super Tuesday.

On the flip side of that, if Newt or Romney perform worse than expected, it will hurt them pretty significantly.

British citizens don't have a Bill of Rights protecting them, which means (basically) that the police can seize anything during the course of an investigation. There are apparently civil remedies if they do it capriciously, but there's (I think) a high standard.

Also, the U.S. government can seize your computing equipment with the right warrant, and you'll need to fight to get it back. This has been true since Steve Jackson Games/Hacker fiasco.

Meanwhile, tomorrow the ginger is testifying at the preliminary hearing of the two Penn State administrators who are charged with perjury (or whatever it is).

Sorry, I'm not going to calm you down any: my point is that there's no indication that our DOJ issued any orders. It could be that the British Government could be co-operating because they've got the same objective.

If it gets that far, Mr. Sandusky will be placed in solitary for his own protection.  Or, perhaps, a special wing for him and the other pedos.

As I understand it, the life expectancy of pedophiles in the general population is normally measured in days.  And not with an exceptionally large number.

Yep. Their contention is that his Illegal Alien Smuggling Task Force was stopping Hispanics without cause. (Arapaio claims that the procedure is to stop for cause first.) If their information is correct, then it's a fair bust.

The problem, of course, is that Arapaio could be more than a little bit crooked. He was investigating a couple of defense-friendly judges for corruption, and didn't turn up anything. The suspicion is that Arapaio was trying to intimidate the judges. (There's been a lot of smelly crap going on with Arapaio lately.)

235 I think Sherlock has it:  We're losing--as in, losing our nation as a limited, constitutional government--because most conservatives have a strong respect for the Constitution and the law, while liberals/Dems/socialists/"progressives" don't.

To members of the latter groups, nothing trumps "the cause"--everything else is expendable and can be violated/disregarded at will, as long as it helps The Cause.

Because the bastards control the MFM and the senate, there is no way to rein in Obozo and the Dems short of armed force--an act conservatives are loathe to take.

One act would at least have a deterrent effect on future assholes thinking about violating the Constitution:  That would be for the GOP to put every Constitution-violating member of the current adminstration on trial after the next change of parties in the White House.  Putting the lawless bastards in jail for ten or 20 years would have a pretty good deterrent effect on others, I suspect.

240 hmm so they can also demand information from a service provider, again,  what stated law are they using for their confiscation of business and personal inyellectual property?

There are 'net laws laying that make ISPs semi-responsible for what's on their servers. Most of 'em were pushed by the RIAA and the like, but a couple of 'em were anti-terrorism related.

What's worse is that your data on a server (think any Cloud) or your cell phone is not currently protected by the Fourth Amendment. Apparently, because of the nature of the Internet, you're not considered to have any expectation of privacy.

One of the lawyers can probably explain it a little better, but it's all bunk. There's a reason we're at metaphorical war with half of the GOP along with the Democrats.

249 Also, the U.S. government can seize your computing equipment with the right warrant, and you'll need to fight to get it back. This has been true since Steve Jackson Games/Hacker fiasco.

No, the police can seize anything you have - DVDs, Computers, Books, Guns, video game machines, money, cars, your house, anything at all, without a warrant just by claiming it is evidence of a crime, and you are never going to get any of it back ever - even if you are acquitted.  Go ahead, ask a judge to have them return your stuff after you are found not guilty. That will be funny to watch.

That is how things actually work. I believe the legal justification for that is the Nyah Nyah na Nyah clause in the Federal code of regulations and most state legal codes. That is the same clause that allowed cops in the 1940's to beat suspects with rubber hoses.

Evidence gets returned to theft victims - but if you are accused you never get anything back - the state just steals it. First of all you are an accused criminal - so nobody cares about you. Second after the trial you are certainly dead broke - so you couldn't do anything about it if you wanted too; justice costs money and you can't afford any. If you are convicted you are in prison  - so you don't even realize it is all gone.

Do you think any of those people who lost their guns after Hurricane Katrina ever got them back? The police didn't even have the justification of claiming they were evidence of a crime - they just seized them because they felt like it and no, they never gave them back.
