— Ace Screeching video at this link, but here's some text:
“Hi, I’m Michele Bachmann. There are many important issues in this presidential campaign – including the role of government, abuse of executive power and crony capitalism. As a mother of three daughters, I believe that parents are the ones who should decide whether or not their young daughters should receive injections for sexually transmitted diseases. These are decisions that are best left to parents, the children and their doctors and should take into consideration the child’s health and the family’s values.“Whether its Obamacare or Perrycare I oppose any governor or president who mandates a family’s healthcare choices and violates the rights of parents on these issues – especially if the decision-making process occurs behind closed doors, bypassing legislative action, and favors campaign contributors over families. That’s not right. As President, I’ll do what’s right for families.”
Favoring campaign contributors over families?
Meanwhile, Bachman has taken somewhere north of $140,000 from pharmaceutical companies.
Those donors include Abbott Labs, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Novartis, Eli Lilly and Bayer. Yet, not a dollar of all that pharma money, from such a wide range of the world's largest drugmakers, came from Merck. Might Bachmann be going after Merck on behalf of that company's competitors who also happen to be Bachmann donors? But really, if Bachmann is carrying water, it's likely not for her pharmaceutical patrons, but her insurance ones. Over the years, Bachmann has taken in huge donations from the insurance industry, including big names such as Allstate, American Family, Aetna and AFLAC, as well as umbrella organizations like the National Association of Health Underwriters and the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. There are also several professional insurance association and agent PACs. In the 2009-10 cycle, "insurance" was the largest single industry donor to the Congresswoman. Of the 435 members of the House of Representatives, Bachmann ranked eighth in total fundraising receipts from insurers.
Now, if Bachmann likes a good follow-the-money insinuation, she might like the hypothetical that she is only going after Perry's Gardasil decision because, as a covered treatment, such an order would cost insurers for every injection (a full vaccination requires three shots, and they cost about $120 each). Perry worked to secure about $40 million from the state to match about that same amount from the feds to cover the uninsured and those on state health assistance.
It should also be noted that while selflessly defending innocent little girls from the needle-rape of sex-predator-doctors wielding jabs of Liquid Whore, she also is now fundraising off of her brave stance.
She's not backing off her previous claim that some woman "cried hysterically" to her and told her that her 10-12 year old daughter (that's the age Gardasil is recommended for) got the shot and became "mentally retarded." She deflects, now, saying she's not a "doctor or scientist," so she cannot evaluate this claim. (She can only fundraise off it, it seems.)
Not to be a dick, but she has previously claimed to be a doctor.
And one more thing: Lest you think she doesn't have the brains to do battle with Obama, she rattles off her degrees. "I'm not only a lawyer, I have a postdoctorate degree in federal tax law from William and Mary," she told Fox News' Chris Wallace in June. "I work in serious scholarship."But there was one résumé item that was missing: a Ph.D. Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when Bachmann traveled the state as an education activist, she went by "Dr. Michele Bachmann," even though she had never obtained nor sought the advanced degree that's a prerequisite for the title.
From 1998 through 2003, Bachmann was a leading opponent of a Minnesota curriculum standard called the Profile of Learning.... Along with a local education activist named Michael Chapman, she toured the state and the nation to drum up opposition to state and federal education standards. And according to eyewitness accounts and material put out by the group, she picked up an advanced degree along the way.
....
" Bachmann's 2002 anti-Profile film, Guinea Pig Kids, likewise twice identified the then-state senator as "Dr. Michele Bachmann."
And in 2000, when Bachmann knocked off incumbent GOP state Sen. Gary Laidig at the district nominating convention, the MREC fired off a news release repeatedly invoking their candidate's honorarium. "On the first ballot, Dr. Michele Bachmann was endorsed 62% to Laidig's 38%," it read. "Dr. Bachmann herself, who arrived at her convention with no intention of running, was shocked by her victory."
So I'm confused. Is she a doctor or not? Currently she's not, I guess.
Why No Mention of RomneyCare? So wonders Matt Lewis.
He's hinting at an idea, which I think is daffy myself, that Bachmann is some kind of stalking horse for Romney.
I don't buy that. I think at the moment, though, they have a tactical, circumstantial alliance based on shared interest. Both want to stop Perry, so they can go back to the old way of dividing up votes between them, moderates and more establishment-oriented people for Romney, social cons and Tea Partiers for Bachmann.
I can't imagine her being a stalking horse for Romney. What would Romney give her? I'll tell you one thing, he's not going to give her any kind of cabinet position.

Generally speaking, the state makes the decision about mass vaccinations as it is one of the cornerstones of public health and the state has the general police powers to protect the health, safety, general welfare, and morals of its citizens. Knowing that - which is just basic ConLaw - I am left wondering why Rep. Bachmann thinks that this is a winning strategy in the primary since she also knows that little tidbit.
Anyhow, I am glad this came out now, however, so we can get all of the hysteria done with early.

Dr. Ace says accepting donations from pharamceuticals is evil but usingthe force of government to force you to do something is A-okay.
Everyone decides their poison. Bachman isn't forcing anything on anyone. Perry loves to force people to do things they don'ty wish too. He even admitted he was wrong.
But Dr. Ace tells us Bachman is on the crazy train.
Hmmm, sounds like Obama logic to me. No sale Ace.
But then again Ace likes Perry decision to give advantages to illegal aliens and deny the same priviledges to Americans. No wonder so many are having second thoughts about these RINOs.
But Ace also supported Pawlenty and Romney, people who don't believe the average person is better qualified to make the decisions that impact on their lifes than the annointed.
Sorry I don't need busybodies telling me what is best for myself and my family, nor any of Ace's cheapshot LGF scenarios.

So what is the criteria? If she stays in, and never drops, that's bad. If someone never drops in, that's bad. If a pundit/blogger never drops in our out, and they say what they like as they like, that's good. And should we argue that no blogger/pundit has ever "caused trouble"?

Proof: Barack Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.
QED.
She has a natural interest in knocking all other candidates. She really doesn't need some deal with Romney to make this an attractive proposition for her.
She does, which is why I'm not completely on board, but it is interesting. Why would she take on T-Paw (who was number 2) instead of Romney at the beginning, and now Perry (who is, currently, number 1)... still instead of Romney?
Actually, I get attacking Perry instead of Romney- he's both the current frontrunner, and really damaging her support (because of constituency overlap). But that just makes gunning as hard as she did for T-Paw make less sense. Better to knock out Romney (then) and only have to go up against the (perceived) weaker of the semi-Rinos.
Again- not completely sold, but it is an interesting hypothesis.

Yep, it was a vanity run from the very beginning. She practically admitted as much when she said something along the lines of her campaign representing the Tea Party. She never expected to win, but perhaps got some false hope after managing to temporarily dupe a lot of voters into believing she was a legitimate candidate.
It's all about gaining personal stature and PAC contributions, attempting to position herself as the True Leader of the Tea Party. She doesn't care who she brings down with her or what damage is done to the chances of the GOP winning in 2012.
All that matters is how very important and under-appreciated Michele Bachmann is.

I think its for the same reason Palin's been sniping at Perry but not Romney. Perry is waaaaay more dangerous to thier brands. With Perry you get the same ideology but with 30% more competence and 12% more experience.
Its kinda why european parliments seperate the socialists (fascist and communists) on the opposite sides of the aisle even though they share rough ideology. It led to fights among members due to thier need to differentiate

If she didn't care about winning, she'd simply attack the biggest perceived RINO and get points for it. Or better, just ignore the horserace entirely and talk about principle.
No, she thinks this gives her an advantage in the race.

I hadn't heard the clip live, but I've heard it several times since- it was a line designed to conjure up images of rape. Okay, maybe not "designed," but definitely "that was going to."

But by now tring to say that she's not an expert who evuluate a claim she is standing by and doubledowning on, she proven my belief. She made a wild, patently false claim on national media. She refuse to retract it or correct herself. Now she's trying to weasel out of her responibility for saying while still positioned to take any political advantage it might give her.

That would be nice.
Here's a clue, though: He can't. You'll just have to decide if it's okay that he's okay with illegal minors receiving in-state tuition (though, as I understand it, in Texas- that's not actually "subsidized." The difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition is supposed to be to cover some administrative junk. I'm not familiar enough to say that definitively, however).
If that one thing is a deal-breaker, the deal will be broken, because he's still okay with it. I hope he got the message from the last debate and refrains from calling those who oppose it racist.

Tell me about it, ace.
I gave an exam today. On the syllabus, "you must remember your section number and put it on each exams or points will be deducted." Two days ago in class, same thing. A paper projected onto the wall stating the same thing as they walked into the exam.
The section number is literally one letter of the alphabet and one digit.
That is all. But apparently the rules apply to everybody but me.

The old way? This entire episode is causing her to bleed support. Even if they knock Perry out, I don't think Bachmann will benefit - at all.
She is looking more and more like nothing more than an opportunist and is starting to remind me of Loretta Sanchez and her political opportunism.
That ain't good.

Dr. Ace is on the crazy train. He doesn't feel that other candidates taking pharmaceutical money is evil but somehow Bachman is beyond the pale. This sounds like the Obama scale of evidence to me.
So if Ace can use his filters to distort what is presented and how it is presented what is the difference between Ace and LGF or even the DU?
It would be nice if Ace could refrain from such obvious ploys. They only serve to divide when done so blantantly.

I think Bachmann stuck her foot in her mouth by saying she met someone whose little girl became retarded from the vaccine, and now she's trying to convince everyone that she meant to do that and it tastes great and everyone else should try it.
She can't gracefully walk it back even though it doesn't poll well, so she, like teh SCOAMF does, has to try to convince everyone that she's right.

And the problem isn't that "a woman claimed to her..." The problem is she used this anonymous (and, possibly, fictitious) woman's accusation as a campaign attack.
Think about that for minute- even if this woman existed (still no guarantee of that), and had come up to Bachmann crying, as claimed, Bachmann would not have even mentioned the interaction on national TV if she didn't intend to use it to harm Rick Perry's campaign. SO, either she believes it, and is a loon, or she doesn't and is a liar.

The toughest thing about writing the study protocol is to be able to collect that data in a way it can be analyzed properly.

Yeah, it's not like girls are abstaining because they might get cervical cancer. AIDS, herpes and pregnancy are the practical disincentives. Also, the fact that girls are usually emotionally devastated by having sex too early.
Besides, they'll want to get it at some point in their lives.
I think there's a reflexive exhaustion by parents, especially conservative parents, who look at a "mandate" at the school and are having enough time counteracting the America-hating American history and the human sexuality course with the lab section. The "oh, God, what's this now?" was likely strong at the time. And by pushing it through via executive order, it didn't help. It fueled the perception that, absent the mandate, parents wouldn't want it.
I can understand the backlash among Texas parents for these reasons and the notion that Merck was too close to Perry. It's a reasonable attack.
But promulgating these lies for cheap political points is too far.

1.) Not even Reagan observed Reagan's "11th Commandment." It was politically savvy eyewash he used to his advantage to shut down people who wondered why he put the man he most savagely fought against in the 1980 primary (George H.W. Bush) on his ticket.
2.) Even if one believes in the "11th Commandment," it most certainly doesn't apply to primary candidates, who are fighting against one another for the nomination. It applies, rather, to the idea of uniting behind the presidential nominee once he's been chosen. To a lesser extent it also relates to the principle of a GOP politician not throwing stones at other candidates unless he/she themselves are in the race (i.e. what Palin is currently doing).
3.) It's a primary, for god's sake. What are we supposed to do, NOT defend our preferred candidate or criticize others? For all the talk about how AoSHQ is Perry Central, any cursory look through the comments would reveal that there is a LOT of doubt about him, several people who outright prefer Romney, the occasional forlorn Palinista, etc. etc. Not a lot of lockstep around here right now.

I actually have grown to really like Perry...and before the debates I had a very low opinion on him. If he could convert someone like me, he has a decent shot of challenging Obama.

That isn't going to work as she hopes. Major backlash.
She's off the rails. That's O.K.

Okay Jeff B. just said everything I was going to say.
The Reagan "11th Commandment" exists mostly in mythology anyway. Even Reagan didn't always follow it, and for sure not during the GOP primaries.

I find it hard to believe a) that Bachmann did not earn a phd and lied about it, and b) anything posted at motherfucker jones.

I Googled "Dr. Michele Bachmann" with a range of 1/1/1998 to 12/31/2004 and came up with two references, neither of which were from Bachmann herself, but these people had to get the idea she was a Dr. from somewhere.
Personally, I think she's crossed the bridge from strident conservative to kook by not backing off of the "mental retardation" story.

IMHO, Bachmann's behaviour lines up very well with the affects of menopause. Women can get really bugshit crazy during that time in life.

With a Juris Doctor, so long as she was not holding a license to practice law in any jurisdiction, she can call herself doctor.
I don't find it objectionable, just silly - but then I am a non-practicing lawyer myself - but NEVER called myself Doctor.

These "social conservatives" need to stop de-evolving into the worst caricatures most people have of them, then.

Just for everyone to see:
Ace, if you or anyone else who runs the board tell me I've crossed the line and that I'm banned, I'll respect your wishes and stop posting.
But I've only been respectful in my posts and generally don't respond to the insults, so I don't think why I would be banned.

Its.....really hard to watch someone with a self-inflicted wound, keep hitting it and making it bleed again.
Someone make her stop....please.
Some please pull her aside and clue her in; there is no competition going on for jumping-the-shark. That's not a contest you want to win.

They were even making fun of Bachmann on Megyn Kelly's show today. ....Two doctors, Dr. Manny Alvarez and some blonde lady Doctor (didn't catch name), were laughing at Bachmann getting around to saying that 'she's not a doctor".....Dr. Manny laughed, looked at the camera and said "Duh!".
He went on to give Rick Perry an "A" for his position on this, and Bachman a "D" iirc. The blonde Dr. seemed to agree.
I have liked Michele Bachman's fighting spirit in Congress, and seeing her stand up to Pelosi.....but this is embarrassing to watch her do this.

What's with that?I really like Sarah, but I just don't think she can overcome her negatives. There's an awful lot of hate out there for her. Undeserved I might add.Every time I bring up her negatives, I'm deluged with attacks.

Yes, you could say that Sarah Palin is polarizing. She gets Republicans to turn against each other.

In the debate she did mention that Obamacare can't be repealed by executive order like Romney says... except that isn't what he says.... he says he will issue a blanket waiver by executive order and then pursue repeal.
But if Perry took her peeps, she is after him, you know what they say about a woman scorned.

Juris Doctor, dude.
Like Dr. Ace, or Dr. Gabe Malor (I know at least one of you guys is a Doctor, I just forget which one), and me, Dr. J.
Says so right here on my degree. But we lawyers are so doggone modest, we just don't like to use our titles.
Do you concur, Doctor? I concur, Doctor.

You are confused because you appear to think everyone with Dr. for a title is a Doctor of Medcine.
Many kinds of Doctors out there that are not in medicine at all.
Michelle has jumped the shark with this and it's the end for her since she keeps doubling down on it.
Shows a lack of political savvy and her weakness by not having clear message of her own - only a lame attack. She's toast.

Bachmann overspoke, just like jug-ears does daily, and nobody is impeaching him for his miserable performance, much less his lies. This is great, because it exposes a flaw. Everybody has them, and we need to know about them.
I'd prefer to have them tell us what they believe, not read some script about what we want to hear. Mitt has a record that includes Romneycare. That makes him less desirable as a candidate to me. I'm still paying for the last bout of compassionate conservativism. His faith is irrelevant.
The last well managed act we got didn't turn out too well, did it? We knew nothing of Obama, and got what we knew.

C'mon Ace since Perry said he was dead wrong on this issue , you defend it and Perry.
Those who think individual rights do not count are numbered in the ranks of RINO. One of the chief characteristics of RINOs is their endlessly lecturing the rest of us.
This negative focus on Bachman is too shrill even for a wombat 13 year old girl. One day we know you'll do something about Perry's role in Gore's 1988 presidential campaign or his open borders posture.
Till then this sort of thing is what I expect to see in the DU or LGF. Its sad and worse, childish.

Dr. Ace will now explain why he favors a politicians right to impose his decision on a family's healthcare choices starting with Perrycare, Romneycare and Obamacare.
Crickets. Well after all its what we expect from people who think Pawlenty was the supreme candidate for president.
