— Ace Check Newsbusters if you want a transcript, but I think you have to watch the video to see the stupid.
He's trying to disprove the thesis that spending is the problem, not revenues, and to prove that, he talks up a chart plotting revenues and spending which... proves that spending keeps increasing every single year (and increasingly increasing in the past three years) while revenue is variable but mostly fluctuates up and down around the same static line (depending on the economy, of course -- good economies = high income = high tax revenue).
I mean, his own frickin' chart shows that the variability in revenue has a flat trendline and only goes up or down depending on an expanding or contracting economy, whereas the only thing that's steadily increasing is the red "spending" line.
And he just talks past that. I don't think he's lying; I think he actually doesn't even understand the lines in front of him.
Oh, he lies on top of that, mis-dating the timing of falls in revenues (for example, revenues fell beginning in 2000 not because of the Bush tax cuts (which were still a year and a half in the future) but because of the Clinton recession.
And he gets flummoxed when the lines aren't doing what they're supposed to be doing (like the revenue line going up big in the middle of Bush's term, thanks to the high tax revenues generated by a growing economy even with a lower tax rate).
But look, he's obviously stupid, and I don't expect him to understand these complex inferences from his stupid chart. But the big picture, right there in front of him in pretty colors? That much I think that someone paid to lecture people ought to get.
"Even I can understand what these lines are doing," he says, self-deprecatingly, but not quite self-deprecatingly enough, because, in fact: He doesn't understand what these lines are doing.
If you say something like "even I'm smart enough to get this" but in fact you're not smart enough to get it, you're not being self-deprecating. You're making an empty boast.

Maybe on tomorrow's show Ed Shultz can use a graph showing how Republicans cause bridges to collapse.

If Republicans were smart, they would blast the bridge collapse lie and this self-inlcted death by collsion with reality and drive home the point that we are at a crossrodas and that the Dems are not serious actors. Further, that the calls for a 'new civility' are dead.
Call Obama a liar on the bridge. Get at lest one survivor or relative to speak the truth about Obama playing kick the corpse for gain.

Three sections of chart, but only one section matters. That would be the Obama POTUS section. Look at that section, forget about the two previous sections and focus on the Obama section. The message of the chart is clear and that message is a huge pear-shaped deficit.
Theoretically they could close the deficit gap with higher taxes except for one problem, we're in the deepest recession since the Great Depression and it's spending that needs to be cut to close the deficit, not raising taxes.
Only being a ideologue, estranged from the pain this recession is causing Americans, could blind someone to that obvious conclusion.

And this will help resolve the debt crisis and/or aid the economy how? If this question cannot or will not be answered, it should die a horrible death.
Perhaps this is how Republicans should approach everything; Dems are not serious, we have a governing culture stuck on stupid, they have lied repeatedly about being focused on the economy and jobs.

Just started reading Breitbarts new screed. So far (2 chapters) its ok. I don't find his awakening to conservatism to be a spectacular epiphany. He simply woke up out of his college-drunkin stupor realized the left and the MFM are full of shit; that he had to work for aliving and became a Winger. He credits his parents, Rush/talk radio and the Clarence Thomas travisty for his new found clarity of thought.
I bet 90% of the morons here have a similar story; as I have traveled this road as well. I just haven't yet awakend out of the drunkin stupor.

On a vertical log scale his arguments make more sense. Someone gave him the wrong chart and he can't make any sense of it. So basically his entire staff is dumb.
In a log scale the last ten years would appear flat in comparison to the revenue increase from 1980 to 1990. But really is that more the fault of the ruling class from 2000 to 2010 or a testament to the ruling class from 1980 to 1990.
Anyway, when you take out the dot come bubble in 2000, Clinton didn't do nearly as well as he should have. The mean should be 2 trillion not the peak of the bubble. Long answer short nothing compares to the years between 1980 and 1990.

Now you have me worried.
I was way farther right than my parents. In fact I hid their car keys on election day because they were on the fence about Jimmy Carter. My first vote was for the republican candidates running in the 1982 midterms, whoever those were. I was certainly drunk from 81-86.
Does this mean I'm going to flip the other way? Does that even happen? Should I watch for signs? Should I tell my family that if I start partisipating in earf day or not bathing or go vegan or watch msnbc they should have me locked up?

Holding the president responsible for the state of the economy, good or bad, makes sense when something the president did can be shown as a cause.
This is not often the case however.
Instead presidents get blamed by their opponents for recessions if they happened during their time in offices, and praised by their allies if there was economic growth during their tenure.
Neither is honest.
Reagan's policies helped our economy in ways that most people don't even imagine, and Obama is working to destroy our nation and its economy (because he is a Marxist.) But most other presidents cannot be praised or blamed for the trillions of economic decisions made by billions of people around the world that creates and defines our economy.
