Eric Holder: Cops Are Being Killed By The Flow of Illegal Guns
— Ace

Ironist General.

The number of officers killed in the line of duty jumped 13 percent in 2011 compared with the year before — and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder condemned the increase as “a devastating and unacceptable trend” that he blamed on illegal firearms.

The number of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty rose to 173 this year, from 153 in 2010, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund announced Wednesday. This yearÂ’s figure is 23 percent higher than 122 killed in the line of duty in 2009.

Holder said “too many guns have fallen into the hands of those who are not legally permitted to possess them,” in explaining the increase.

I'd like to report a crime-- people using government resources to smuggle 2000 weapons into the hands of Mexican drug bandits.

So where do I sign up to be harassed by the Administration? Is there a special Harassment Request I need to sign, or do they take care of that for me?

I don't see any reason to let him have Club Fed.  A Mexican prison will be somewhat more like the circle of Hell in store for him...

10 I bet that a$$hat counted Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry
-----------------
Funny how the cop-kill count went up as weapons were handed out like candy to known criminals.

Also funny how people have been saying it all along that this was the possible plan. (Let guns out, count the extra kills, use as means to control guns)

When I say "funny" I mean "horrific"

12 I'd like to report a crime-- people using government resources to smuggle 2000 weapons into the hands of Mexican drug bandits.

But those guns were all legal.  That was the genius of it all.  See the difference?  I'm talking about illegal guns, here.  Keep up.

Posted by: Eric the Holder at December 28, 2011 04:21 PM (X3lox)

13 Well, Mr. Holder, maybe you should stop SELLING them the damned things.

Posted by: cirby at December 28, 2011 04:42 PM (dVCxa)

14 The guns themselves are not illegal; a criminal possessing them has made the gun contraband by holding it. This cart before the horse rationalizing is just an excuse to criminalize firearms.

Posted by: Yeknom1 at December 28, 2011 04:45 PM (MVnCk)

15 Holder said “too many guns have fallen into the hands of those who are not legally permitted to possess them,” in explaining the increase.

That's not what the report said. The rise in deaths is blamed on budget cuts to public-safety departments. This has resulted in cutbacks on training, delays in acquiring new equipment, and massive layoffs that reduce the manpower available to fight crime.

So whattaya know! Holder told a lie that supports an anti-gun agenda! Don't that just beat all?

16 So, we went with the spam thread???

Seriously...I was only around 10 years old when the whole Watergate thing broke....endless televised testimony...everyone saying 'OMG!!!'..

These pricks are in a league all on their own....they do way worse things than Nixon ever did on a daily basis...and the press just goes "So?"...

Dirty rotten fuckers....all of them.

Wow, this is called sticking to your script.  Yer up to your armpits in alligators with the Fast and Furious thing.  People have already called your dumb ass out on it for being a gun grabbing scam.  And yet, you plow right on...

18 I was told it was just plain crazy talk to say this was what the plan was all along. Flood the scene with guns Cry that the nation is awash in guns and crime Push for control.

20 Holder said “too many guns NOT PROVIDED BY THE US GOVERNMENT have fallen into the hands of those who are not legally permitted to possess them,” in explaining the increase. Fixed it for this joke of an AG. Worst we've had. Ever.

22 I would say I'm oddly impressed that he can say this with a straight face, except this is really just a bug F U to the American public. He might as well say:
"Naa, naa, so what if you found out about my super-awesome operation that forced gun dealers to sell guns to members of a Mexican drug cartel in order to manufacture hundreds of deaths so that I can eliminate the 2nd Amendment? I'm so untouchable I'm not only going to NOT resign, but I'm going to continue to lie in order to stick to the plan.Oh, and you're all raaaaaacists.".

Posted by: Liz at December 28, 2011 05:06 PM (4Z5WH)

23 I heard this story on the radio news in the car today. It said the increase was confined to 3 states, NY, FL, and TX. No mention of Holder in the radio version thank God. I hate that man with the heat of a 1000 suns: even worse than the SCOAMF.

24 OK , 68 poor guys killed by gunfire out of 800,000 plus cops countrywide . Seems like a reasonably safe line of work to me . My first month in heavy construction there were three men killed in my medium sized city alone .

Posted by: awkward davies at December 28, 2011 05:15 PM (ybe4q)

25 I'm a little sorry to even mention it, but we did catch the cocksuckers a few years ago counting police gun suicides as "officers shot." I'd sort of like to feel that the statistic has been cleansed of that particular perfidy. Any clues?

Posted by: comatus at December 28, 2011 05:15 PM (N0OTq)

26 didnt read the comments so perhaps repeating old news on this thread perhaps but didn't they channel illegal guns to U.S. inner city gangs as well as Mexican drug lords with Fast and Furious? Pretty sure I read here or on a site linked from here that our glorious DOJ did this.

34 What incredible audacity.

35 Somehow Holder reminds me of the guy who killed his parents, then in court asked the judge for mercy because he was an orphan.

Posted by: Mister Money at December 28, 2011 06:39 PM (wN82N)

36 Holder obviously never read the report. Nine more officers were killed by firearms than in 2010. Of the 173 who died, 64 were in traffic accidents and 27 died from physical related issues such as heart attacks or illness. Three of the firearms fatalities were accidental shootings.

And, if you read further into the report... The record low for firearms fatalities was in 2008 under George Bush. Police firearms fatalities have climbed every year since. Oh, and included in the deaths are correctional officers, 6 of whom died in the line of duty in 2011 but hopefully not by firearms.

"Other causes of officer fatalities include: aircraft accidents, beatings,
bomb-related incidents, being crushed, drowning, electrocution, falls,
stabbings and strangulations."

38 39 good info. From Holder's statement we finally see that he may just be stretching the truth to further the regimens gun control agenda?

40 Question to Holder:  Does this mean you'll be increasing U.S. gun sales to Mexican Drug Cartels?

Posted by: theCork at December 28, 2011 08:50 PM (IsLZ7)

41 Its not uncommon for these stats to vary considerably from year to year.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at December 28, 2011 09:21 PM (EBtP3)

42 1 - Gun purchases are up, violent crime is down, and more police officers died while members of the police force than last year.

2 - ?????

3 - GUN CONTROL!

4325  Liz ==============    Liz captured my take on this.   I'll add that it scares me a bit.   Since their heads are so disconnected from reality and they won't admit what they are doing and all the time they keep coming and coming and coming after our guns - no matter what - well then... can you blame me for seeing them as Zombies?

45 "The number of officers killed in the line of duty rose to 173 this year.... This yearÂ’s figure is 23 percent higher than 122 killed in the line of duty in 2009." --Politico article

Uh, for the record, 173 compared to 122 is a 41.8% increase, not 23%.  Not that the math error surprises me.

49 In other news, Holder blamed Tea-baggers for the latest Reichstag fire, while denying that his office sold used flamethrowers to Mexican drug traffickers.

Yes, they did this - it was called "Gangwalker".

51 By the way the March 24, 2009 press conference where Deputy Atty General Ogden announce the addition of the ATF agents for Fast and Furious (he didn't identify it by name - but that is what it was) out of the stimulus funds at the direction of the president and ordered by Atty General Holder is going to be impossible for these assholes to explain away.

And yes Ace this absolutely was ordered by Obama and Holder - despite their Shultz defense of "I know nothzing" and "fast and furious never heard of it".

54 It's a preposterously bad joke. Criminals don't give a rat's ass about any laws. Why is that so hard to grasp? All these criminals get their weapons outside the law so they can't be tracked or they can't pass a background check. All the laws in the world are not going to eliminate the black market on weapons. Only legitimate citizens are going to be punished. Holder is the number one criminal in this situation and should be in prison for any number of felonious offenses. He and that other malignant mulatto.
