— DrewM Sounds like Durbin reads the HQ.
I think you can expect to see this a lot in the coming year. Pretty much every time Obama says, "the previous administration". And you know how often that is.

We are not concerned with a double-dip recession, but we are concerned about the failure of republican's to present a budget within the administrations strict guidelines and acceptable to the President.
This is my present day comment, and after my departure in September, the above comment is completely inoperative, and will not be relied upon as a factual representation of my belief.

Question...
IF you take out the increase in Gov spending, which was all borrowed money... and the banking industry (which produces nothing, it just moves money around and counts it as GDP activity) did the economy really make any gains the last couple of years...
ie... is the PRODUCTIVE part of the economy actualy growing? or is it all Gov spending and Banks?

When John McCain was on that horrible excuse for a show called The View, you asked him if you had to worry about a return to the days of slavery. Thanks to the policies supported by liberals and foisted upon the rest of us, the answer is yes.

There's a movie in there somewhere . . . Charlie Sheen as the agent, Obama as the insane Colonel, Joe Biden as the fawning Dennis Hopper journ-o-list character . . . Anthony Weiner as a naked tribesman . . .

I'm thinking about that "Ulsterman Insider" most recent post. Let's see if I can find the quote...
Here it is:
"Watch for an uptick in Democrats openly speaking out against Obama. You have likely noted the most recent bi-partisan votes in Congress against Obama. To have those kinds of votes against a sitting president who is now fully engaged in a re-election campaign is stunning."

@2: "January 4th 2007: The day Pelosi became Speaker of the Democratically controlled 110th Congress
DJIA end of session: 12,800.18 Garbage number - as we know, market was full of shit.
National unemployment rate for December 2006: 4.5% Nice enough, in and of itself, but offshoring was already well underway, wages had been stagnant for a long time, and a lot of those jobs were low-level service ones. Not really a sign of strength
2006 Federal Budget Deficit: $247.7 billion Better than the Dems' numbers, but still terrible. The GOP are supposed to be the fiscally responsible ones, remember?
Average GDP growth for 2006: 3.4% Almost all of it was pulled-forward demand based on credit/debt, as has been the case for the last 25+ years. Virtually no organic growth in that number.
Median Home Value in December 2006: $244,700 Hopelessly inflated figure from the near-top of a bubble. Worthless indicator of value.
March 2011: $159,600 Sadly, as still inflated figure. Not an indicator of true value yet.
Average price for Regular Unleaded Gasoline December 2006: $2.30 Nice enough, I guess, but pre-Bush giving banks billions to unfreeze credit pour into futures. Not a good measure of value, but probably more accurate than now.
Federal Debt as % of GDP 2006: 64.55 2008: 70.00 2009: 90.36 2010: 92.28 2011: 102.63 (estimated) 2006 was still terrible. Again, the GOP guys are supposed to be the party of fiscal responsibility.
Nonfarm employment in thousands Dec 2006: 137,000 April 2011: 131,028 As above, nice enough, in and of itself, but offshoring was already well underway, wages had been stagnant for a long time, and a lot of those jobs were low-level service ones. Not really a sign of strength.
Obama has definitely exacerbated the problem, as did the Pelosi/Reid Congress, but the GOP did a terrible job, too. They don't really look better than the Dems, just less abysmal.
