I sidebarred this shortly after it started making the rounds this morning, but Larry O'Connor at Big Journalism had a good idea that we can take to the next level.
If al-Krugman won't open his comments, why, I guess we should just open ours. Let 'er rip, morons. Andrew Breitbart has faith in you. Don't let him down!
Update: For those of you who may think that something this stupid and outrageous must be a hoax, its validity has been confirmed by Krugman's own standard.
So if you see me quoted as saying something really stupid or outrageous, and it didnÂ’t come from the Times or some other verifiable site, you should probably assume it was a fake.

If this is the best he can do, Krugman should be thankful that we don't treat old pundits with faulty logic like we treat horses with broken legs.
Oh, and SCREW HIM. I've had dogs smarter than this guy.

You are exactly right. In fact, it is so shameful that you should move immediately to a more noble and spiritually correct nation -- like North Korea. They will appreciate your economic wisdom more there, too.
Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
...but first you will blow the barbed cock of Satan, you pig-fucker.
Sincerely,

A liberal ashamed of the way he acted on and after 9/11?
I thought not, his allies in this world, the islamo's killed a lot of Americans, that the islamo's didn't kill more that day, did not bring down the Bush Presidency, That America wasn't destroyed that's what this piece of work is ashamed of.
He isn't ashamed of ENRON nor his action with ENRON.
In short This clown is an asshole who cannot manage to STFU and STFD on this day of rememberences for the ones who died.

Try this one on for size, Krugman. How would you like someone to argue that the Holocaust was cynically used as an excuse to expropriate land to found Israel? That argument is every bit as valid as yours, which is to say, not at all.
Now FOAD.

Like the rest, Enron's Own Economist makes bold statements because he knows he is safe, protected by the laws and people he despises.
That such America-hating savages are allowed to exist and, worse, freely spout their insane rantings is, in a perverse way, a sign of America's greatness. It is also one of our most shameful aspects, as there are not, at this moment, thousands of protestors surrounding Krugman's mansion, demanding his imprisonment.

Three thousand Americans died. There's nothing odd about the commemorations being "subdued".
How can Bush, Kerik and Giuliani be "fake heroes" when they weren't really heroes to begin with? They did their jobs of handling the situation, but they didn't put their lives on the line as heroes did. Kookburger Krugman sets up a paper tiger and knocks it down.
I get the impression that he's tired of being a liberal, so he's going to be a bad one. With the attitude that he has, he might as well be an ironic commenter for the political right.

Krugman,
I see you wrote something stupid and outrageous and it was not fake.
Why wanting no replies to what you wrote?
Because you suddenly realized you were too drunk to think clearly but had to write something...anything....to keep your job?
What you said was too much of a window into your twisted soul but you were late to meet your deadline?
You realized you might sound jealous of the President of the United States and the Mayor of New York taking actions while all you could do was quiver under Barney Frank's bed?
You suddenly realized that you had hit rock bottom, had no place else to go and hated long goodbyes?

The memory of 9/11. I wonder if Krugman is referring to the actions of Barack Obama who is trying to transform 9/11 into into a sterile, 'Day of Service.' A day of service where Obama appears at a photo op handing out food.
We are in the twilight zone here.

The retreat of business bureaucracy in the face of the market was brought home to me recently when I joined the advisory board at Enron--a company formed in the '80s by the merger of two pipeline operators. In the old days energy companies tried to be as vertically integrated as possible: to own the hydrocarbons in the ground, the gas pump, and everything in between. And Enron does own gas fields, pipelines, and utilities. But it is not, and does not try to be, vertically integrated: It buys and sells gas both at the wellhead and the destination, leases pipeline (and electrical-transmission) capacity both to and from other companies, buys and sells electricity, and in general acts more like a broker and market maker than a traditional corporation. It's sort of like the difference between your father's bank, which took money from its regular depositors and lent it out to its regular customers, and Goldman Sachs. Sure enough, the company's pride and joy is a room filled with hundreds of casually dressed men and women staring at computer screens and barking into telephones, where cubic feet and megawatts are traded and packaged as if they were financial derivatives. (Instead of CNBC, though, the television screens on the floor show the Weather Channel.) The whole scene looks as if it had been constructed to illustrate the end of the corporation as we knew it.

A few months ago the vast majority of business economists mocked concerns about a ''double dip,'' a second leg to the downturn. But there were a few dogged iconoclasts out there, most notably Stephen Roach at Morgan Stanley. As I've repeatedly said in this column, the arguments of the double-dippers made a lot of sense. And their story now looks more plausible than ever.
The basic point is that the recession of 2001 wasn't a typical postwar slump, brought on when an inflation-fighting Fed raises interest rates and easily ended by a snapback in housing and consumer spending when the Fed brings rates back down again. This was a prewar-style recession, a morning after brought on by irrational exuberance. To fight this recession the Fed needs more than a snapback; it needs soaring household spending to offset moribund business investment. And to do that, as Paul McCulley of Pimco put it, Alan Greenspan needs to create a housing bubble to replace the Nasdaq bubble.Posted by: Krugman in 2002 at September 11, 2011 10:21 AM (gjsMD)

Heh....
You know this little offering from him puts his genuine concern in context though.
He gets that the middle is not embracing Barack and desperate for anything now matter how insane or tacky to try to get some to "join the moral side".
I am betting the middle remembers the left's antics as well. Most mushy middle types I know do want unity, but they also remember the side that walked away from Bush the minute they could.

Had Clinton and the left been willing to deal with Osama, when he was offered to them by the Sudan, it is likely there would have been no 9/11.
Similarly, had Clinton and the Clinton given even a modicum of support to Masood's government, their likely would not have been a 9/11.
Of course on the latter point, Clinton made a reasonable choice at the time. But, since the left has no interest in being reasonable...Why did Bill Clinton allow AQ allied Islamists to take over the base they would stage 9/11 from?

"Te (sic) atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. "
----
According to the tried and true truth of liberals, "what they accuse is what they are":
So the fact that democrats used Iraq as a wedge issue and cashed in is Bush's fault too?
A little background - They were for Iraq, before they saw it could be monetized into votes. Then they became against Iraq, and spent the following years accusing Bush of lying to them, FOOLING them into war for oil. Nevermind that we didn't get or even try to get any oil or that Bush was basicly stupid, (but fooled them?).
Absent the oil, they haven't come up with any other ulterior motive for Iraq. And after Bush left office, suddenly there were no more protests being covered, no more Code Pink bullshit, but the war is still going in Iraq, to the extent it was ever a war in the first place. My opinion is the war was a continuance of a renegged ceasfire agreement
As a side note, the democrats could have defunded the war - but would dare not disturb the vote "cash cow" they stumbled upon. Stich had the votes to stop the war one year after Bush "fooled them" into voting for it. Cunt also had the votes to start impeachment proceedings agains Bush, and if memory serves - republicans called her on that one day, basicly all voting to to start impeachment, but the democrats quickly changed their votes to NO, so that the measure would fail.

The amazing thing (or maybe not so amazing after all) is that this was read and approved by an Editor at the NYT. So it's not just Paulie Krugnuts' demented ramblings, but the approved demented ramblings of the editorial board at the NYT.
And Carlos Slim subsidizes this, so the Mexican billionaire approves too. So yeah, it's easy to attack Paulie Krugnuts as a pyschotic leftist propagandist (which he is), but this is the approved mind-thought of the NYT.
If comments HAD been allowed, it would have been illustrative of the chorus of agreement that would have followed. Dissent would have been edited out, at least the most angry dissent.
This is who they are. This is the thinking (if you can call it that) of the people on the Other Side of our politics in the US. This is what not a few people in the Obama Administration really think. This is why Obama must be defeated in 2012.
We all hope for the bankruptcy and failure of the NYT, because it has become an Old Grey Whore in its dotage, and not worth the paper or photons that makes it readable.

Krugman is a despicable, small-minded little excuse for a man. I cannot understand why the Slimes keeps him on their payroll.
I can only hope the NYT receives a ton of emails about this awful, self-righteous, pompus ass's uncredibly insensitve, false, and demeaning post. In addition, he should see more than a few protestors outside their main office tomorrow morning. A very public display of revulsion is warranted for his article, one in which he shows his cowardice by not even allowing comments.
He is certainly no economist, judging from his former position with Enron. He is definitely no American, judging from his article this morning. The nation should demand that he be fired immediately, then ostracized. His words should never disgrace our sensibilities again. He should be shunned and the mention of his name should be followed by spitting.
Furthermore, he should have his ass whipped.

They key to understanding this failed and mocked Enron economist is that his analysis is situational. Enron's fictional accounting, Ponzi scheming, and special purpose entity construction? Good! Haliburton's corporate excesses? Bad! Bush under-reacting to a hurricane? Bad! Obama pretending to be in charge with a hurricane? Good! Bush under-reacting to 9/11 by reading "My Pet Goat"? Bad. Bush finally reacting? Cashing in bad.
Save yourself the time with Krugman's "analysis." Progressives can do no wrong. Conservatives are crooks, cheats and racist haters. Yawn.

If anyone used the War on Terror as a wedge issue, it was the left and people like Krugman, who excoriated George W. Bush for Guantanamo and enhanced interrogation techniques and security and surveillance measures, but have remained silent as a liberal Democratic President, Barack Obama, has continued the same policies. The last sentence of the post is the giveaway: Krugman is a coward who doesn't want people to be able to respond with free speech against his traitorous garbage.
Is remembering the firefighters who died on 9/11 really an "occasion for shame"? Is remembering the "horse soldiers" who went into Afghanistan in the weeks after the attack to defeat the Taliban really an "occasion for shame"? How about the Seals who killed Osama bin Laden.... an "occasion for shame"? How about bringing Saddam Hussein to justice? How about the purple fingers of Iraqi women voting? How about the thousands of American boys who gave their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan? Are they all just "occasions for shame"?
Teh Krugman is a sick, sick man, and the decadent old nursemaid that is the New York Times needs to change his adult diaper, pronto? He's starting to smell.

No, I'm not talking about Sept. 11; I'm talking about the Enron scandal.
One of the great clichés of the last few months was that Sept. 11 changed everything. I never believed that. An event changes everything only if it changes the way you see yourself. And the terrorist attack couldn't do that, because we were victims rather than perpetrators. Sept. 11 told us a lot about Wahhabism, but not much about Americanism.
The Enron scandal, on the other hand, clearly was about us. It told us things about ourselves that we probably should have known, but had managed not to see. I predict that in the years ahead Enron, not Sept. 11, will come to be seen as the greater turning point in U.S. society.

Liberals like Krugman have become an occasion for shame to America.
Liberals were once upon a time reasonable people with a different point of view. While I considered their views wrong,I never considered them to be the "enemy" either. But people like Krugman are different. They are consumed by hate for America because the American people do not embrace the flaming leftist, statest dictatorship he wants us so badly to become.
Just a note to Krugman,
The American people have always embraced FREEDOM and always will. As long as we do,you will always hate us for not bending our knee to your god.....government. Worship your god if you will Paul, but leave the rest of us who LOVE this nation,LOVE freedom, and LOVE the American people out of it.

I remember Hollywood not putting out one stinking pro-military film in the last 10 years. And I remember that the films they did put out were full of accusations of murder and rape against our troops.

They finally have "superdecider" and can't grasp for him to be effective he'd have to have the restrain of Jesus tempted on the cross, the patience of job, and the brilliance of Sherlock Holmes for about 300,000,000 economic decisions or so per hour every day let alone foreign policy decisions.
There is literally no human that can wield that power with any morality, so they look the other way at their flaws in the name of their dreams and unleash the toxic knowledge and fear at their foe.

NY Times is having a worse week than usual. Here's Bill Keller, one of its poombahs, in a review of C. Hitchens' latest:
"If God does have a sense of irony, Hitchens will spend eternity in a town that serves no liquor and has no library."
Here's the relevant definition of irony:
"an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected."
If God gave Hitchens a big smile, told him the bar was open and that the library was all his...that'd be ironic.
How did these NYT types gain a reputation for brilliance? They can't handle something as simple as an appropriate remembrance of 9-11 or the definition of irony.

if the well has indeed been so posioned that the worst and first actors in the division are rewarded it tell us what may need to be done so far as establishing "unity" it may well be as Walter Williams said "time to part company"....
The nation cannot maintain this toxic internal disequilibrium, what you are reading is liberals trying to undo the toxic soup they made the national dialog after recounts 2000.
I am not putting the toothpaste back in the tube until they acknowledge their part in that toxicity rather than simply wishcasting blame on our side.
Join me in refusing if we all do you'll know at some point if they are sincere in it or not based on whether or not they move.
You cannot force the other side to accept your right to have a position until you hold it, and the thing to say about calls for national unity is "okay YOU move."
They owe me for 8 years of poison.

I just read a comment from a military guy: "the brave said "Let's Roll!" but the left said, "let's troll!". How perfect is that?
Oh, and the koskids are calling the 911 memorium "just a wingnuts Christmas".

Just remember, Krugman is from the same class of folks that Michael Moore is from in America. Moore pretty much said that AQ shouldn't have attacked left wing Dem voting precincts like New York-after all, the lefties are on your side. If 3,000 R voters were killed, the Krugster and those like Moore would ave danced in the streets like the Palestinians did.

I emailed Pinch...
I find your approval and subsequent publishing of Paul Krugman’s disgusting piece of trash, The Years of Shame, to be a despicable act on your part, especially on this day. This piece of “journalism” is false, misleading, full of radical, left-wing, anti-American talking points. Krugman is an embarrassment to the nation, to New York Times, and you. You should be ashamed of yourself for allowing that screed to see the light of day, a day when regular, patriotic Americans are reflecting upon the atrocity of 9/11 and the innocent lives that were lost as the result of muslim hatred toward us. His cowardice in not allowing comments was to be expected, as he seeks to insulate himself from the truth he knows he would hear from the country. Your decision to publish Krugman’s sorry excuse for an article is proof that you no longer deserve to be in business. I hope you receive many, many subscription cancellations as a result. I would hope that you see protests in front of your office, for you and your staff deserve every word of criticism you receive. oh I know...I was a Reagan child, they went absolutely batshit toxic when carter lost because they thought after they succeeded in fanning Watergate into GOP toxicity that they were the main voice of the US.
in hindsight as i was saying about some of my gags I used in 09-10 the right probably went a little nuts on Clinton, so when Gore lost the left went berzerk....
they never quit at best they took a 5 month break....
This divide is since Vietnam in the making and I will not take a single step back towards them in peace until they acknowledge their dishnor in shitting on US policy for partisan gain since then.
I hate them, I hate them more now than I did when I first noticed their shit.

What is it that Krugman finds shameful about 9/11?
Is it the death of Americans on that day or the death of the terrorists who flew the planes?
Is it the hardship it's cause countless of our people or is it the hardship it has caused Islam?
Is it the waving of the American flag in defiance or the lack of waving of a White flag in surrender?
Is it the remembrance of the leadership of a Republican president or is he pissed that a Democrat wasn't in office to receive credit for actions taken beginning on that day?
Every American citizen in this nation should be offended by Krugman's post.

If Krugman keeled over and died of a thunderclap coronary today, I'd break out the champagne. Then I'd find his grave and piss on it, then laugh in his family's face.
It is tripe like this that makes me realize that if terrorists drove a plane or fertilizer-laden truck into the Times building, I'd be quite alright with it.
They're not Americans. I barely credit them with being human.
F**k them.

No, Mr Krugman.
There is no need to comment on your post.
Your vile and despicable nature stands on its own two feet.
I can't imagine the horror you must have felt that day...
Flags being flown without shame and this countries protectors being given the honor they deserve.
You must wake up in cold sweat every night.
But I'll give you one consolation:
On 9/11, the barbarians struck at the bluest of the blue cities.
On that day, this country came together as one to defend it.
But we've learned a thing or two since then and understand that not everyone is worth fighting for.
There will be another 9/11 and it undoubtedly fall on a bastion of leftism because, you see, large cities make the best targets and the denizens of flyover country are armed and have no problems fighting back.
But on that day, I don't think you'll see us ready to go war for you again.
And, of course, you'll never fight to save yourself.
The next 9/11 will be on you.
Good luck.

Dear Mr. Krugman,
Some things I find shameful, post 9/11/01, are:
1--That the USA did not immediately strike back with WMDs, once the aggressors admitted their guilt.
2--That the USA did not revoke the visas of those from all known host countries of said aggressors.
3--That the USA has not achieved energy independence from the Middle East.
Those are only the top three, but you get the idea.
The memory of that day is poisoned only by persons such as yourself, Mr. Krugman.
Persons who continually shit on the United States and everything it stands for, those who apologize for the existence of a country which celebrates being different from the rest of the world, those who would have every life identical for everyone everywhere (except for their elite selves, of course) while shouting diversity! and tolerance!-- persons like YOU-- can simply KISS. MY. ASS.
Fuck you very much----

There is much more behind Krugman's comments, and it's not about 9/11. It's about Krugman the person. He is lashing out now, as he sees before him liberalism's best hope in his lifetime crumbling . They had it all, and Krugman has as much invested in this administration as Obama himself. They were swept into office with (in their opinion) with a mandate. I recall Howard Dean on election night pontificating that Democrats will control Washington for the next 20 years.
As quickly as they came to power it all began to unravel. First the failed trillion dollar stimulus. Even today Krugman's answer is that it was not big enough. He has a career invested in failed theory, and now must insist that he is still correct. Then came the Healthcare bill. I beleive that is the moment history will look back on and conclude that its passage marked the end of the Obama Presidency.
For Krugman there is even more dissapointment as so much of what he advocates is behind the the failures in Europe that have unfolded for all to see during the very time this administration has worked so diligently to lead us down the same path.
Krugman the true beleiver, in the twilight of his career is forced to watch the failure of his own beliefs unfold all around him. Lashing out is all he has left.

Mr. Krugman is doing exactly what I warned my two oldest sons of today. . . He is part of the faction that will attempt to diminish the atrocities of 9/11 and will buffer future generations from truly understanding what happened 10 years ago today. If people like Mr. Krugman make up university level academia, I can't say I'm interested in investing my middle class dollars in their "education" scam.
The Twin Towers should still be standing, but I wait with great anticipation for the two towers of elitest academia and deluded journalistic media to collapse and be swallowed into the pit of hell. Along with the death of bin Laden, this collapsing of both "institutions" will bring about great justice for freedom loving Americans and humanity WORLDWIDE.

Paul Krugman is to be pittied, his remarks in this article are pure projection. As others have indicated in their comments, it is a reflection of his own personal failure that he cannot acknowledge. The New York Times is as usual reflecting the absolutely maddening attitude of liberals who are "above the fray." Look how disappointed they are in all the conservatives who refused to feel guilty because we fought back.
The worst is his projection of "fake heroism" and opportunism upon G.W. Bush and Rudy Guiliani. Neither have presented themselves as heroes. Clearly Paul Krugman knows that on his best day, he could not hope to have the maturity, valor and integrity of either of these men.

I can not fathom the sick mind that could even conceive of that phrase to malign the character of those men who had to be told and respond to the evil that was done to America and the rest of the civilized world that day.
"Cash in"?!, "CASH IN"!!!? Krugman, you should be ashamed to even think such thoughts. But you don't; because, the neocons and President Bush are worse in your mind than the terrorists who attacked us.
I have more respect for our enemies than you. As you "cash in" your paycheck this week, remember to thank the terrorists for giving us 9/11; so, you could put on display your hatred of your fellow Americans.

Mr. Krugman has a problem. He enjoys being the center of attention at all times.
He's been jealous of 9/11 for ten years now and jealous of the government who steered America through those darkest days following.
Therefore, he pulls his poop from a loosened diaper and smears it on the pages of the New York Times.
This is Mr. Krugman's idea of Shock and Awe.
Posted by: Hard Truth at September 11, 2011 11:07 PM (1kwr2)
Krugman is, quintessentially, the kid who got his ass kicked all over the playground. In my mind's eye, I can see him there, sitting on the ground after getting roughed up for the 50th time, blubbering, breath coming in great hitching heaves, cheeks streaked, fists clenched...and hating.
That is what is most important: to hate.
Purely, simply & unceasingly. To never forget nor forgive his tormenters, to hate them for his own lack of courage to stand up for himself.
Ya know, Ayn was right about pity: it is, by far, the most heinous and despicable emotion possible to the human condition. It shames both the one feeling it as well as the one for which it is felt: great, broad and bottomless sadness for that which is irredeemable.
God I pity Krugman. Can anyone really imagine what it must be like to have to live in the solitary confinement of that tiny little mind? To constantly feel as if you must justify your existence...to yourself? To know that at the end of the day, when you lie in bed in the darkness and there is nothing external to hold reality at bay, that there is no escape?
Sweet Jesus do I pity that sonuvabitch.
