Now they can say "See we cut spending so now we get to raise taxes".
You KNOW this is what's going to happen.
And The Weeping Boner will go right along with it cause hey, it isn't going to matter to him and his portfolio/gold bullion/dacha or his connections to corporate biggies who'll supply him with a sinecure when/if he gets unelected.

The scourge of Abaddon, promise a tepid $100 Billion. After glorious conquest, walk it back to $60 Billion, just 'cause. Deliver $8-14 and call it 'real', say $38.5 Billion with a boob job.

Attended a funeral yesterday afternoon for a friend of our son's who burned to death in the fuel truck he was driving last Thursday (may have fallen asleep in the wee hours). I've never seen two more brave, stalwart parents.
As the parents of an only child (they had four), I don't think I could survive. Hell, I wouldn't want to survive.

Superman goes for a little fly by around Gotham on a Saturday morning.
As he flies past a highrise he spots Wonderwoman spread eagle while nude sunbathing.
He swoops down and speed fucks Wonderwoman then is four seconds blows a wad and flies away.
After Wonderwoman props herself up and shouted 'what the hell was that'!
Then the Invisible man said 'I don't know but my ass is killing me' LOL

Well, you could print it up. But in your case, it would result in a visit from the Secret Service and a long vacation in a federal prison.
But when our government does it, it's called "sound monetary policy".
I just think that they hate it when someone else tries to muscle in on their racket.

Rep. Allen West on Budget Negotiations: Democrats in Senate Have ‘Dug in Their Heels’
“Mr. Schumer, Mr. Reid and Mr. Durbin, I think that they have dug their heels in and they don’t want to hear any type of solutions. And you have to also ask yourself who put us in this position with fiscal irresponsible policies – did not come up with a budget in the 111th Congress – but yet they continue to stonewall it and prevent us from moving forward.”

A dozen state lawmakers in Oregon are convinced it doesn't need to be. They slipped the lyrics to Rick Astley's 1987 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up" into their speeches on the House floor last year. And they did it right under the noses of colleagues, journalists, lobbyists, staff and the public.
The video was released on April Fool's Day and went viral this week, attracting more than 780,000 views and comments from fans cheering the politicians eager to have a little fun while doing the people's business.

I'm not lessening the death of ANY child. We have two sets of friends, older than us, who lost only children in their late teens, early 20s. Something dies inside a person when they will never see a child grow, marry, have a career, or have a grandchild. I know our boy could lose his life in Trashcanistan, or die in a stupid car accident. My husband and I had the conversation last night after the visitation about how we'd survive. I truly don't know (if we had another child, we'd live for him/her).

I just stop paying attention for a few days. If you're like me, it all becomes mental gobbledy gook and at that point I go to the library and re-up on my mental faculties.
If I can't find something (usually boat or golfing shit) I get back to my old Calvin and Hobbes comic books to get me back on center!

I thought that you would all like to know that I am feeling really good now. Today I've been magnanimous. I feel like a congressman... even like the President himself.
How and why do I feel this way?
Well I'm glad you asked.
I got a list of the countries that the U.S. provides foreign aid to and I pick the shittiest, nastiest, most hateful countries toward the U.S. and I started calling them. I told them because of recent policy mistakes of the U.S. administration and congress, that the dollar had lost much of its value and for this reason we were doubling our aid to them.
It seems like the right thing to do under the circumstances.
Magnanimous! Yes - that's me all over. And I feel fucking great!

I know you weren't. I just can't imagine, at all, how that would be. And the thing was, my Mom was at an agonizingly painful visitation and said, well at least you have the rest of the kids. At first it was terrible to contemplate, but when I actually started thinking about it I understood. And it's like you say. You have other reasons to go on. Doesn't make it any worse, just gives you a reason to get out of bed I guess and something to look forward to? Needless to say, all horrible to contemplate and hopefully neither of us ever has to deal with that. My baby boy is getting letters from West Point and Annapolis. YIKES!!! And the crappy thing is, I cannot, given the current ROE and policy, give him the slightest encouragement to do what has been the family tradition for the last two generations. It galls me to say that.

Saw that. Since my cynicism meter is pegged, I might as well bend the needle. In four months, they've cleaved off ~$38 billion (+-$38 billion). At this rate, it'll take more than a full electoral term for the House to eliminate just the March 2011 deficit.
Boned.

So as I was calling around local computer shops today, looking for a used LCD with a VGA connector. One of the geeks told me all DVI monitors also have a VGA connector so I looked on the back of my brother's monitor and she was right!
I now have a big, (used) new, bright monitor!
With all of the political shit that's been going on the last few days I've now mostly tuned out of the blogs and have returned to FPS gaming. I haven't gamed for years. It's a great break from shitty political news and arguments -- it's really a great relief.

many seem in for raw power
some seem to be in it for paycheck
some seem to be in it to Change everything to be fair.
some because it's a family tradition .
too little of them seem to be in it for america.

I don't want to be a part of the problem, willow, but one of my biggest goals right now is to be a government worker (not politics*). I know that sounds odd for an AoS participant but...
I'm in my mid-40s. I'm a single woman. I am a workaholic (working on that...). Every single one of my prior bosses has called me and asked me to come back to work for them. All I want is a bit of job security. I know that I could make a difference in my field (defense). I wouldn't be the typical "sick, lame, lazy" government worker.
My motivation is re-enforced every day when I walk in my office and see my dad's helmet on my bookcase. Unlike Lockheed Martin and their self-serving motto, I never forget who I'm working for.
In the meantime, I'm gardening, stockpiling ammo and booze, and hoping for the best while thinking it's not going to happen.
I really picked a bad day to quit smoking.
*Seriously. Can't. There's probably video... ;-)
