— Ace Weiner admits sending the messages, five in total he says, but says they are harmless and inoffensive.
On that point, the girl's family backs him up.
The family member said: “I am angry. This is surreal and unbelievable. It is absolutely crazy. We are just regular people who go to baseball games and basketball games, as ordinary and plain as can be.”In the past few days, the girl and her family have become subjects of intense interest in the news media. On Friday afternoon, the local police arrived at their home and asked the girl and her mother to bring the girl’s phone and computer to the police station so they could be checked to make sure no crime had occurred.
The family member said the family complied, and did not expect any further action to be taken.
Fair enough. Given the family would be angry at Weiner if there were some bad tweets here, I expect that's actually the truth of the matter.
I still would like to know what the hell Anthony Weiner was doing privately DMing a high school girl. His messages to her couldn't simply be publicly tweeted? "Thanks for your support! The future is made up of people like you!"
That sort of thing. Private? Why?

Ego boost, I think. He liked that the smitten teenagers were so taken with him. In the private chat, they can get all mushy and he can say, "now, now..."
I'm still suspicious, but if the cops find nothing, then there's nothing and probably they can figure out if anything untoward happened to her computer before they got it.
This is also not the behavior of a normal family. But then again, Lewinsky's family was cool with it too. Methinks if we knew their names, an FEC search might show some political donations.

So, I assume Twitter has already wiped the servers as well then? Considering Weiner sits on the government committee that deals with Twitter like entitites?

That's not how I read it. I think that's the NYT downplaying things. As I read it, they're angry at Weiner for having private communications with their daughter, and they resent having a media spotlight shone on her. Sure, she seems like she's looking for trouble, but I was a foul-mouthed little punk when I was 17, too. I think her parents just aren't very internet savvy, and probably assumed that their daughter's interest in politics was the least of their concerns; if I had been interested in Congress as a high school kid, my parents would have been thrilled.

First there was the announcement of the "pregnancy", then there were homely, domestic-type photos of weiner walking down the sidewalk with food for the two.
Now the parents of an underage girl assure us that absolutely none of the messages their daughter exchanged privately with this notorious horndog were just totally innocent.

This may have already been addressed, but here's the fish:
Initially, it was reported that a FoxNews reporter was in the house interviewing the girl, was made to give the authorities any and all screen captures, and leave immediately. (please tell me if I am wrong here as I will be more than happy to retract)
I have a generally positive perception of the police, but recently after the AZ shooting of a vet, the cops protesting in WI....
I just have this nagging suspicion that this may have been a coerced action...especially if Fox News had a reporter already in the house.
I dunno...This whole story is full of so many twists and turns, it's hard to ponder one thing before another thing comes to light.

Depends, could be the girls saw all of the trouble Weiner has got himself into and deleted anything that was going farther than talking about the weather. Later she shows the innocent tweets to her mom and everything is cool.
The cops have her computer and cell phone. If they search the hardrive for deletions and find there in no there there then it's just weirdness and not a crime.

1. investigating a complaint from a crank of some kind so it can be dismissed and made to go away
2. a legit complaint, which would have required evidence, of which we have none that is solid, yet.
3. the appearance of "doing something", which can be very important when pressure is applied from any source, or
4. maybe there's fire with the smoke, but it's sure hard to prove.

A totally innocent Jersey gril will get wrapped up in it. It will end with the rap dude cop beating up beitbart for ace's identity, and the angry girl detective shooting ace in an abandoned subway warren with a hack'd internet connection and a collection of ewok posters. My point was that if there's anything to be found, it might be found in e-mail or on a HDD, but it there's real suspicion that something was going on, the next step is going to be getting a subpoena for the girl's Facebook and Twitter records. The hard drive will never tell the whole story.

Even if there was no actual sex talk, his "tights and cape shit" e-mail seems a little too "familiar" to be sending to an underage girl. A congressman talks like that to a 17 year old he doesn't actually know? Seriously?
Of course, her parents apparently don't mind the "I love 69" tweets, so this seems unlikely to bother them.

I somewhat disagree. She doesn't even know what she's talking about. She sounds over-sexed and under-educated, like many 17 year-olds. In reality, using mustard for lube would probably sting. This is the trying-to-sound sexy blather of a young girl trying to sound like a sexy woman, and failing.

I ended up getting into an argument with someone who said I was "trespassing", and they called the police on me. Point is, when I got there the police officer made some snarky comment to me asking why I like to hang around high schools, suggesting I'm a pedophile.
I was fucking 18(I graduated early). And yet, I'm a pedophile for hanging outside a high school.

You sure can delete anything...from your feed. If there were shenanigans, playful suggestions, or other synonyms for hitting on underage girls, well - nothing is ever really deleted. The google cache is proof enough of that, though in this case they may lend a hand and actually delete something.

Posted by: StPatrick_TN at June 10, 2011 08:15 PM (D+phB)
Google doesn't cache private DM messages. When DM messages are sent, only two parties have the capacity to delete them, the recipient and sender. Safe bet Weiner deleted everything on his end, and the girl probably did her part as well by deleting incriminating tweets on hers. That means the evidence now only exists in backups on Twitter servers.
It's possible that a desktop app used for tweeting could have saved a cache of the tweets as well, but I'm not sure how much of that is recoverable.

That can all depend on your temporary internet files capacity settings. Also if you have google remembering your searches. Stuff you've downloaded. And even places you've gone to but deleted may still be recoverable, I don't know. Also knowing the computer you can get the IP information from the ISP in subpoenas probably and see where they were going.

Tweets are more iffy because initially, it's all stored on Twitter servers, not the personal computer. The data then can only possibly exist in caches utilized by third party Twitter apps. In her case she was actually using a Blackberry for many of her tweets, so if the police had an ounce of sense they would have confiscated that as well. There's a chance that a cache of tweets could have been stored by whatever apps she was using on her Blackberry for Twitter, and it's not something you can easily delete without a bit of technical savvy.

I'm sure Weiner doesn't have any influence with DE police.
Remember, he's a liability to Democrats. They'd love to get this out from under them.

I'm on Team Peaches, then. I don't care about Weiner sticking around as an embarassment for the Dems (why do we assume they're capable of such, anyway?) - hell, Bawney is still kicking, and he's been an embarassment for years.
I want him out. No charades, no tearful "stand by your man" press conferences, just complete exile. He needs to go back from whence he came was from, and bother us no moer.

Have to say, when there is a national level scandal, the first thought, if not actual response, of most parents of a teenager is to shut it down as quickly as possible. That would give them at least some wiggle room and time to decide where to go from there.
No one knows the families political leanings and that could have some determining value.

One was about baseball. In another, he replied to a question she had about legislation by jokingly asking for her advice, the family member said. His third message to her was in response to a link she posted to a YouTube video of his giving a speech, with the message: “My true love.”
In a blog post on Tumblr, she later shared the contents of that private
message from him. In it, Mr. Weiner appeared to liken himself to a
superhero. I cam back large. In charge. Cape and tights shit..."
That last line about his large in charge response is not to her link to a video. I dont care what you say.

Weiner's chest looks like he may even have implants.
He has small dents/divets of muscle missing in otherwise large pecs, along the inside near his breast bone, that look like boob jobs gone awry in women.

He'll just claim that when he said he didn't DM anyone underage he was talking about inappropriate DMs. These were just all innocent.
If he's asked at least. And whoever the reporter is will likely accept that explanation. Because they want to believe he's innocent until he's proven not to be. The opposite of a average person or a Republican who they will always assume is guilty.

I could see how honey mustard could be used as a lubricant. The acidity could serve as a spermacide just like back in Casanova's day when the women used a half lime or lemon peel as a cervical cap and the acidity of those worked the same way.
The condiment that really conjures up bacchanalia is mayonnaise. Mayonnaise was invented by the Romans thousands of years ago. You start with raw eggs yolks, which are almost pure colesteral and a good lubricant, and then you add a little redwine vinegar for that acidity plus a pinch of dry mustard. Then you slowy drip in extra virgin olive oil while beating it steadily with a balloon whip for about 20 minutes and finish it off with a dash of lemon juice. I figure mayonnaise was invented by sheer accident.
Those Romans loved their orgies.
