and yet... well George W. Bush, following Ronald Reagan in both intellect and ideology, strategically created vast debt in order to justify a broad attack on the Social Security system.
That's like some weapons-grade stupid right there.
That's got to be a parody.

So the national debt is a problem?
Ace doesn't give a shit about "debt." he spent eight years rubbing his balls on this shit blog imagining the size of Dick Cheney's cock.
Or is the national debt not a problem?

You must be talking about the 47% of the country that doesn't pay taxes instead of the 5% that pays 60% of the taxes.

Just ask Beckel if he's pounded any hookers lately. It usually shuts him up for a while.

35-Woohoo!! What are you doing now?
Absolutely nothing that I can use my 35 years of manufacturing experience for. I'm currently a telemarketer, tho' not making cold calls, which helps immensely. We're just getting this department up and running, so in a way I draw a lot from general life experience and the way I'd want to be treated if I were on the other end of the phone.
My direct supervisor is a drumming buddy of mine from way back whom I'd lost touch with until about two years ago, and my big boss is a really nice younger fella, who's I think is a conservative, but it's way too soon to start that conversation with him. Discretion, valor, etc...
One of my coworkers is from my hometown, (which probably makes us related in some way) I've managed to replace her bass-playing hubby in more than one band in the past five years, but we're still good friends. Their oldest son, at age 14, is a fookin' monster guitar player that I've jammed with a lot. The kid's got potential.
All in all, I could've done worse. I really hope this works out as I don't need a whole lot of money to get my head above water and the hours suit me well. I can still gig and can work around what few conflicts there might be.

But I can't really even process a skyscraper made of $100 bills. This is the best effort I've ever seen, but it's still unfathomable. If they cut it in half or doubled it, it would have the same impact on me because I can tell it's too much, but I can't really understand the point we are on the too-much-scale.
What I do know is we've growth this debt really fast since the democrats got the House back. I know the debt compared to GDP actually went down from 2000-2006, but skyrocketed after. From the low sixties to the 90s as a percentage of GDP.
It's a rapidly growing number that almost no one can really wrap their minds around, but it's a desperate situation.
Posted by: Dustin at July 29, 2011 01:54 PM (519+h)
Not bad. But the fact is that the amount of national debt, even if it were reasonable, would still dwarf planes and buildings, etc., because we're a big country. 300 million people can handle a lot of debt. The real problem is imagining the debt we have now, not as a gross debt that dwarfs the Empire State Building, but the debt per taxpayer that dwarfs what we owe on our cars, our college loans, our houses.
As everyone ought to know, the real taxpayers (the top 10% who pay more than 70% of the income taxes) are the people who really "owe" the national debt, just like it's me who owes money we've committed to pay for my son's Catholic boys high school, not my son (who doesn't have any income). Those top 10% (and that's just of the 140 million or so filers) are the real "debtors" who will have to pay the vig eventually. So there are about 14 million of us who are going to have to pay off the $14 trillion in national debt. Now we're talking.... that's about $1 million per taxpayer in that upper income group!
Put it that way and it really does sound scary big.

Stuff like this makes me want to go home, cut off the DirecTV, XM Radio and start listing everything I just can't make myself sell on Craigslist.
Take every ounce of cash I can find and start buying MREs.
