For instance, there's a push right now for scholarships for white men.  Most universities with which I'm familiar have eliminated accepting any gender or race-based scholarships (and have tried to get the donors to re-write old scholarship agreements to make them race and gender neutral; some are grandfathered if the donor is dead) as a reaction to the Michigan decision on race-based admissions.  But from time to time you'll encounter a donor who wants to do gender or race based scholarships.  A skilled development officer can discuss it with the donor and often help them construct a scholarship agreement that achieves what they're trying to achieve without using race or gender.  But some people are persistent -- those you have to walk away from.

I would not be surprised if someone posed as a donor who wanted to make scholarships for white males, but who during the discussion injected a bunch of bigoted statements.  Institutions need to prepare their development officers and other staff on how to handle that situation.

What I find to be unbelievable is how the MSM still considers James O'Keefe some right wing subversive hack.

Let's look at his track record. He was responsible for ACORN losing federal funding, thereby destroying a corrupt organization which had been committing vote fraud since its inception. He was arrested trying to prove Mary Landreau was not taking phone calls from her constituency during the Obamacare vote, and now has made a tape that resulted in the resignation of the head of NPR.

He's been more successful than any major networks investigative journalists have in a long long time.

In a sane world, a network would be hiring O'Keefe. The man gets results. And unlike Dateline NBC when they rigged trucks to explode, he doesn't make fake stories.

I'm not sure he's there yet.  For one thing, he doesn't seem particularly bright, so I don't know that he has connected the dots between liberal ideology and liberal behavior (and outcomes).  For another, his personality is soft - touchy-feely - not analytical.  I think he needs some positive emotional draw to come over to conservatism. 

Dating a conservative woman would help.

I'd also have him do a lot of one-on-one interviews of Allen West, Marco Rubio, Herman Cain, and any other prominent minority conservative you can think of.

(that's a joke).   He was saying he does two shows in two different markets and one of his callers said "the union bosses got to Walker" and likened them as "worse than the mafia" (which really is no big deal these days as the mafia looks like the nice guys compared to other groups and they were the ones rounded up and arrested recently)

1. He didn't remove the changes forcing the unions to hold re-certification votes every few years or automatic dues collection from paychecks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Veritas has something on V. Schiller, but I don't think that would be the only reason for her departure.  It may simply be that she's been the one at the helm for two high-profile scandals in less than a year: the Juan Williams firing and now this.  Both of these incidents have put a lot of unwanted attention on NPR in particular and Public Broadcasting in general, and if there's one thing cockroaches don't like it's a spotlight.  Tends to make them scurry.  They'd want to get that light shutoff as soon as possible, and in lefty circles that's always involved throwing someone under the bus "for the greater good."  It doesn't work anymore, but that doesn't mean they're going to stop doing it.  They're dumb as a brick.

Over at Hot Air, Walker released e-mails of negotiations he is having with the fleebaggers.

At first i was real pissed, but when i read the concessions he was going to give, I wasn't all that mad. The concessions are minor and they don't touch the most important issues. The "worst" one would be that the union has to be recertified every 3 years instead of every year.

The rest are very minor concessions.

It's good that he released these e-mails because it shows that he is willing to negotiate and it is the fleebagers who want all or nothing.

So in the end, Walker will either get everything he wants or will give some or all of the concessions listed at hot air which is still a victory for walker.

 

131 One bit of good news is NPR's listenership has been on the decline for a couple of years now. NPR boomed in the 90s and early 2000s and stole market share from other stations. But then it stagnated and now is slightly declining. Down about 5% or so from it's peak a # of years ago.

NPR caters to the upper middle class, especially the middle-aged. All radio stations have this problem of an aging audience and younger listeners abandon radio. For the upper middle class iPod generation NPR was one of the last things they listened to on the radio. But now they are even losing that habit.

This is a problem for talk radio, too, of course.

I was reading a NPR discussion on what NPR is doing to combat this. Their main response is to emulate TMZ. In recent years the only thing that has produced good bumps in their ratings have been pop culture heavy news stories. The problem is the older NPR listeners (aka -- the donors) hate the pop culture crap, but the younger listeners love it. So NPR is trying to appease the donors while increasing pop culture bits to grab the younger demo.

Look, dude -- a moral code is a fucking moral code.  O'Keefe's ACORN sting was the tits and everyone agreed it was.  Getting arrested for entering Mary Landrieu's office under false pretenses?  That's not so cool, and you can't mau-mau us by bleating "WE NEED TO SUPPORT OUR TEAM!" when they do something that's fucking illegal.  Furthermore, I don't know if you read the details of the "CNN reporter" debacle but they made O'Keefe come off as frankly a bit out there, very juvenile and with poor judgment (even if you accept the premise that it was an attempted punking -- it was a poorly conceived and misplaced one).  Even Andrew Breitbart, who mentored O'Keefe and has otherwise defended him to the death, said that it was a terrible, terrible mistake and that CNN's coverage in those "Tea Party interviews" O'Keefe was to be a part of were very fair. 

This latest sting makes me realize that O'Keefe still has genuine awesomeness within him.  He bounced back, which is great: he got his shit together, kept a low profile while he worked out his newest plan, recruited some great teammates to help with the sting, and got the goods.  It proves that he's got a real future IF he can avoid stupid crap from now on, which I think he will. 

But don't get your panties in a bunch because people on the right condemned for his earlier stupidities.  The fact that he pulled this off doesn't make those other two events retrospectively acceptable, dude.  One was crime, the other was cruel, sophomoric, and evidence of terrible judgment.  I like O'Keefe (especially now that's shown he's more than a one-trick pony), but you don't just get to rewrite history and accuse us of being pussies for refusing to defend the indefensible.

Go to tools, then add-ons. From there you can make sure it's turned on. If it isn't, turn it on and restart FF. If that doesn't work click the check for updates button and update it.

It blocks all script embedded in web pages except the ones you tell it to run. Most of the viruses now run by embedding in Java Script or in Flashplayer.

I don't have flash player loaded in FF and I only allow some script. I haven't been hit by any virus since I started that regime.
