Help Find Marizela!
— Ace

Michelle Malkin is doing what she can to help find her missing cousin -- which is just getting the word out, getting her picture out there. A lot of these mysteries are solved just this way. People see stuff. Sometimes they don't realize they've seen something important until later.

She was last seen at the University District Safeway in Seattle, between 1 and 2 pm, this Saturday just past (the 5th).

If you've seen this girl -- Marizela Perez, a University of Washington student -- let the authorities know!

4 Gotta make you wonder if her relationship to Malkin has anything to do with her disappearance. I would not put anything past a committed Pacific Northwest left winger. Hope I'm wrong and that she's just off her meds.

It's weird.  My sister emailed me yesterday to see if I had heard of this.  Apparently, her co-worker's daughter was friends with Marizela in high school.  She's originally from Egg Harbor Township in NJ, but was living out here to go to college.  I emailed her back and told her that I did know about it because it was on Michelle Malkin's homepage since Marizela is her cousin.

I guess MM was here in Seattle yesterday, looking for her.  The neighborhood she's living in (Rainier Valley) is pretty sketchy, although, she supposedly did make it off the train closer to the U.

I don't have a good feeling about this.  She was also on anti-depressant medications, so there's that too.

Yeah, she is the spittin' image of Michelle Malkin.

Hopefully she is just rebeling at her family and is hiding out.  Or something like that.

Just thought of this... Is it Easter / Spring break for her college?

If it is, there might be a benign explanation.  She's on a college holiday road trip or something.

I hope.

Spring break at UW isn't til March 20-27.

Rainer Valley where she lives has turned into gang central these days. The area around UW isn't much better.

Rainier Valley is where the cop killer (shot 4 Lakewood police officers in a coffee shop), Maurice Clemmons was killed--right in front of my Aunt's house.  It used to be a working class, lower income neighborhood with housing projects.  The housing projects got torn down and "mixed housing" was built.  We have some middle class friends who moved into the mixed housing who said "We're still waiting for the rich people to move in"--another friend of mine looked at them and said "You are the rich people."

And yeah, the U has some high crime areas surrounding it, including the Ave.

I met them at the last Seattle Moron Meet-up (which Editor had in Fremont, in "pissing distance of the Lenin statue"--it was the night of the mid-term elections).  I asked them if they were going to have plastic surgery to alter their faces after hanging out with us.  They were really cool.  They said they moved there thinking they could change things from within.  I asked them how that was going, and they said "not so good."

42 Unfailing Prayer to Saint Anthony

"Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints.

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God
and Charity for His creatures made you worthy, when on
earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on
your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in
trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore
of you to obtain for me (request). The answer to my prayer
may require a miracle. Even so, you are the saint of
Miracles.

O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full
of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the
Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and
the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.

Amen. (Say 13 Paters, Aves, and Glorias)"

50 I've been following this since MM first posted and live in Seattle. I suppose it's a measure of hope that she made it to the U-Dist but the trail goes cold from there and her debit card has been used since. MM also posted something kind of ominous sounding:

There are several reasons and grim evidence that cause the family to remain gravely concerned about MarizelaÂ’s safety, health, and well-being.

Very sad/scary. Prayers up on behalf of her parents and all of MM's family.

51 48-that's not very nice-this isn't the time or place for that. Our daughter was lost in a European city-the worst day of our lives. She took a wrong turn, got confused, and panicked. Wandered around for hours until she thought to go into a McDonald's, where they probably spoke English. The police had already posted her picture, so the McD's crew called them in and we got her back. But until then, we thought the worst had happened to her. Having a loved one go missing is one of the worst things that can happen-short of them dying. Joking about Marizela's ethnicity is rather rude, and certainly not appropriate now.

It seems like the family is as much worried about something she might have done to herself as much as something that might have been done to her.

In any event, there's a reason cops won't take a missing persons report for the first day or two.  A lot of people just sort of say "fuck it" and disappear for a couple days, only to reappear unharmed.  Fingers crossed that this is what's going on here.
